  2. Just read an article that got me thinking how merciful our Lord is and how we all need to keep the faith. I say this because of the panic over the Virus makes things much worse than the Virus. I know that statement can be severely proven otherwise in a lot of situations, but look at the folks going to lose the very shelter they need to stay healthy, lose their retirement, their livelyhood, their medical insurance and in some cases their pension if companies fold. In my estimation thy are shutting us down too hard that all the way, have greater consequences in the future. All we need is to stay a distance away from each other, wash up real good........ but........ Evan needs to wash his mouth out with soap, and ever wonder why Dripley looks so shiney lately? he uses Armor All for protection. Another point is that a medical report says most flu type infections typically taper off severely by May due to drier warmer weather. That's a good thing. Keep the faith for all of us
  3. 50horse injectors are considered stock replacement. I dont think you've got enough fuel to stall
  4. Im sure the US will follow suit like the other county’s, for it will probably get worse before it gets better. Around here it’s mostly vacation homes, I’m one of the very few that live here year around, in the winter we probably average less than 10 people per square mile. but lately, I have been getting calls to go plow peoples drives so they can escape the city’s and come up and un-board their vacation homes and hopefully escape the chaos, I just got back from town, spent 80.00 bucks at wal mart stocking up the RV, to head out on a week long very primitive camping trip while some relatives house sit our home. I’m just going to enjoy some cheap diesel prices ( 2.38 a gallon now and falling) and burn up some saved up vacation and sick days from work, I could probably ride it out for a few months If I had too but not going to get that drastic right now. I’m just going to get away from all the TV and internet chaos for now, Im sure it will be worse when we return but just going to enjoy the solitude while we can.
  5. I do believe if the VP was starved of fuel enough that putting it into gear killed the engine that the VP would have already crapped the bed. The VP is heavily reliant on fuel for lubrication and cooling. Upgrading from the carter is highly recomended just for the VP's sake. Do have a fuel pressure gauge? But i would add to this that manual trans trucks do have anti stall programing in the ECM that adds fuel when the idle starts to drop when the clutch is engaging and autos don't have this feature. Seems it would be good to have for this situation.
  6. If you jack axle up and spin wheel while turning adjuster it is easy to tell
  7. I "brand bash" Derale pans because they are flimsy, made of thin gauge metal, and I've had issues with them leaking, not because they don't strengthen the case. I simply don't like them, and won't use or recommend them. Feel free to endorse whichever pan you choose, but to say that the strengthening effect of a well built aluminum pan is a "side effect that isn't necessary" is not accurate. Most deep aluminum pans do use their extra capacity in their marketing (as would I if I were in marketing), but you can buy stock depth pans aluminum pans as well. What would be the purpose of that if it weren't to strengthen the case? Believe me, the strength gained from adding an aluminum pan is significant. But, what do I know...?
  8. That is the problem with people today we all got narrow sighted and thinking only of our own families which is fine but also think about how your choices affect other families. When we go shopping we don't spend every last penny on TP clearing a shelf off. Nope, we get what we need for the 1 week or 2 weeks most. 2 cans of this, 2 cans of that, 2 boxes of this and 2 boxes of that. I've got faith that Good Lord will provide us with what we need. In the same token you have to be sensible as well and not hoard products of any type. If you have extra anything share with other around you. Like yesterday knowing we were heading towards Lewiston I called my neighbors which are in their 80's. Asked if they needed anything? Like most of my energy is spent here at home making space for other to possibly escape the cities and craziness if needed. Like Eileen has 5 siblings, then 3 grand kids too. If anyone wants to take a chunk of yard to park a RV you more than welcome. The only thing I ask is everyone contributes to supplies and work. I'll share what resources I've got as well. At this time I might not have a lot of food but I'll be still tending the website and turning wrenches even if the light go out. I'll share my bit of light, shelter, food and my knowledge so you can keep going!
  9. Didnt know all that. Somehow it all works out. If your ever in bind I can run things up. For now I may starve not be able to wipe my *** but I'll be ******* welding even if the lights go out
  10. What "shift kit" was used? What is the stall speed of the torque converter? VP44 trucks are notorious for not being able to fuel the engine quickly enough to catch the load of a converter with too low of a stall speed when cold. Plus, depending upon which "shift kit" was used (I'd guess Transgo if it was done by the corner transmission shop), there are a couple of things that can make it worse.
  11. Mike I dont think you need to go anywhere noone drives passed McCall anyways Yesterday I got wire and tips for my welder some flap disc and cutting wheels I don't have any food in house and two rolls of toilet paper. But I'll sure as hell be working on my jeep
  12. Hit a bump today and all these parts fell off. Weird.
  13. I tapped into an unused fuse pin. Worked great for me. It's been that way for years. And the fuel heater is run from the ECM is run right through the fuel heater plug. I have a master switch, that controls it but yes I have it too.
  14. The main reason to use an aluminum pan is to strengthen the bottom of the case. There is literally no structure down there, and a good, heavy aluminum pan will strengthen the case by a pretty significant margin. The extra fluid capacity of a deeper pan is a nice benefit. It really doesn't matter if you have a filter extension or not. Some pans come with them, some don't. It doesn't really matter much. I don't really care how hot the fluid is getting, as long as it is being cooled by my cooling system. A good, well built torque converter, when working hard up around its stall speed will generate a lot of heat as it multiplies torque for you. Some guys like to watch the temp of the fluid coming out of the converter, and that's fine, I guess. But to me, it's fairly useless information because I know it's going to get hot (sometimes REALLY hot) while doing its job. I need to know how effectively the cooling system is removing that heat. That information comes from a probe in the pan. BTW, 157 degrees F is barely even warmed up yet. You DO need to have some temperature in the transmission. I like to see an operating range of about 150 - 190 degrees F. A transmission operating in that range is a happy transmission.
  15. I don't know about apple cider vinegar but I'm with you on the hard cider
  16. I've been drinking apple cider vinegar nearly every morning for a while now. I'm a believer in it. Might try peroxide too if I can ever find any again. My aunt used to flush her sinuses every morning with vinegar. I'm not that tough yet. I like the way hard cider makes everything else feel good after drinking
  17. Here is my wiring diagram for the Pacbrake using the Cummins ECM. I found the correct terminal on my 2nd try and they are cheap. $2.33 for 5 with free shipping had them in 2 days. Source and PN will be listed when i get everything together. I am wiring it so the led lights when the brake is closed, not when the switch is turned on. Pacbrake says there is a 3 second delay from closed throttle to brake activation. In my tests I'm seeing 1 to 1.5 seconds to relay closing, so i guess another 1-1.5 seconds for butterfly to close sounds close. Relay opens instantly with throttle, i noticed no delays. The only thing i don't like is with the switch on the brake will apply any time throttle is closed. I see that getting old in heavy stop & go traffic, drive thrus, etc so i may add a momentary switch along with the toggle switch but I'll add that later if i decide to. Just waiting on Amazon now.
  18. They shut down Ohio as of midnight Monday night. They call it a "stay home order" rather than this shelter in place term I've been hearing. Basically we can't go anywhere unless it's essential for food, prescription or other needed items.
  19. Found out a couple hours ago that myself along with all the other 90+ drivers at my terminal have been laid off until further notice.
