  1. Ilikeoldfords numbers are impressive with hand math using GPS. The only difference I can't do those kind of numbers at those speeds. Mine tend to drop off rather quickly above 60 MPH. At 65 MPH I typically see 18-20 MPH at 75 MPH it more like 14-16 MPH. But now at 55 MPH I can easily keep mid 20's... So you got me beat for speed and MPG number that's for sure. I'm also 3.55 gears but my RPM's would be much higher at highway speeds.
  2. No hardwood out here. But even the BTU content is kind of questionable at times. Like out here everyone wants red fir because of its high BTU content. But I can't burn it right now because the wood is so hot that you have choke way down on the air to keep from roasting to death and now creating huge amount of creosote. But now like right now I'm burning spruce and alpine fir which is lower in BTU content than red fir but now I can burn with the air open bit more and no smoke and have to clean the chimney way less.
  3. Well here was our private birthday party for both Stephanie and myself. Michael on the left, Lindy on the Right, Stephanie in the Background.
  4. Well now that I'll have a few days off from work I'm planing on knocking out the wood pile as much as possible. I might even make another run to New Meadows, ID for more. Who knows. I always get picked on by the locals that tell me, "Oh you only need 2-3 cords a winter" The first thing I ask them is do you have a furnace? Do you burn solely wood for heat? Do have someone at home all the time? For me wood is our only form of heat so every morning a fire is lit and kept burning all day long and stoked in the evening and most night left to burn out. Come December it get really cold typically and there is about a 1 month span where we move to the living room for sleeping. Just way too much wood is wasted on heating a pair of bedrooms. So for me like I mention before I burn about a 1/4 cord a week or 1 cord a month. Now you also got to add in the gust house now too when it get down right cold I got to heat it too. Then if I happen to be working in the shop I burn wood to heat it too. If I'm feeling cheap I might fire up the propane torpedo heater.
  5. From one end to the other should be less than 5 ohms of resistance. From one end to ground should be infinite ohms (open circuit) so there is no shorts to ground.
  6. Are you sure you measured with both plugs unhooked both the ECM and Cam sensor right? So from the cam sensor plug to the ECM was 5 ohms your at the breaking point. I would look over the wiring closely for corrosion. You might need to repair what every wire you test that was 5 ohms.
  7. He's got a Ford Mustang to put back together and the body is on a rotisserie so you can flip it around to weld, paint or otherwise. Actually that is a modified Datsun (if I'm not mistaken) its got a V8 crammed under the hood.
  8. Time to unhook the Edge module and see if it occurs again. Even though the module might not of shown it was active it could be something internally damaged.
  9. There is a thread over on Cummins Forum talking more about installing a coolant filter with anode and recharge. The idea sounds good but I've only seen a few that added it to the truck but no testing has ever been done to prove anything. Anyone here considering doing this too? I would love to see someone do it and do the testing too. Price of coolant is getting expensive. I'm considering it because of the cost of replacement.
  10. That's hard for me. It's only 125 miles one way to my tire dealer...
  11. As they say wood warms you more than once... Fall and buck up the tree, load it in the truck, unload the truck, split the wood, stack the wood, etc. I was just thinking that I'm burning roughly 1/4 cord a week or 1 cord a month. So at that rate I need roughly 7 cords. I've got 8 cords as of now. I've still got another 4 cords unsplit. So I'm already bring on the winter. I know I got to crawl up and brush the chimney one last time... Maybe this week.
  12. That would be visible with the valve cover off and the engine idling. You'll see one or more rockers not performing properly. Still in all the compression test would show it too.
  13. Actually I went out to Grangeville, ID today and had lunch out. While I travelled the 120 mile round trip I was stopping along the way to shot pictures with my new camera. I'm going to re-celebrate my birthday and Stephanie (Wife of my boss) birthday tomorrow. I'm Oct 26 and she is Oct 28. So Mom and myself pickup a birthday cake, and some odds and ends. Then another neighbor Betty is making food for the party so I've gotta pick that up in the morning before work. I'll get my pictures posted up tomorrow evening.
  14. Welcome to the site Marc... Did you ohm the leads from the cam sensor to the ECM? Where your reading less than 5 ohms? By chance is there another Dodge owner near you that you might swap ECM with temporarily? Another person you try contacting... http://articles.mopar1973man.com/manufactures-dealer-vendors/12-dealers-vendors/12-th-racing He's really great guy and he's on your side of the line too...
  15. Another birthday that I always forget... October 4, 2007 which happen to be the birth of www.mopar1973man.com as domain. So I turn 44 years old and the web site turned 7 years old.
  16. In my case I had the old 1976 Dodge motorhome for better than 10 years and the day I decided to trade it in both the hoses where leaking and neither would hold air. Same problem a PITA to get your hand into the inner duals to air them up. Grrrr!
  17. Remember if you use any flush chemical do leave them in too long because most are a acid nature to help break loose all the junk. Then make sure to rinse the entire system out really good a few times. In other words fill, drive, and dump a few times to makes sure you get it all rinse out. It really sucks when you don't and the CLR or block flush now eats your head gasket or heater core.
  18. Right on! Nice to see folks here jumping in to help out. Thanks Randy for helping Sara out...
  19. In the 911 contact list... http://forum.mopar1973man.com/index.php?/topic/4768-bass-river/
  20. Good. That what I was explaining to him about getting 2 different test show the problem. Then you know your on the right track. Then the compression test will tell if its a cylinder issue or a fuel issue too. It might be a plugged cross over tube or maybe a cylinder issue. But we need the testing to be done. Like Tyler was going to buy a full set of crossover tubes they are not cheap so figure $25 a piece times 6 gets rather spendy fast. So why not do some basic test and isolate some of the issue and find out what you need before buying a bunch of stuff. Just thinking about it Tyler you might ask Pepsi71Ocean about his compression tester.
  21. Ummm... Err... Ummm... I've had one last year where I could tell the chimney was starting to choke right in December but it just snowed so I hung in tight. Next morning I built a fire and wasn't long and smoke was rolling back in the house. So now I'm shutting down the stove and waiting for midday and hoping to climb a slick roof. What I found was the creosote piled up in the exposed chimney area (the coldest part) and created a flap from the side wall that got warm with the starting fire and fall over shut and plugged the chimney completely. Mine wasn't as bad as the video. My build up depth is about 2-3 foot of the top and the rest is smooth and clean below. I don't have any stains. But on occasion I get chunks of creosote that dropped on the roof. Thankfully I've got a steel roof. Funny thing is I re-stoked the fire and now its so flippin' hot in here its like summer time all over again. Ugh. Should of like the darn thing go out.
  22. Between these two test compression and fuel line loosening will give you two different test pointing to the same cylinder. Like I was explaining to Tyler is that if you at least have two different test showing the failed cylinder then you know where to start at.
  23. MoparMom was the one that got me to buy the first camera which began the adventure in web site development and the birth of www.mopar1973man.com. Well after 10 years of service my old Fuji FinePix served me well so it was kind of a shocker to hit a camera shop and find out that the shop suggested another Fuji FinePix again just a updated version. So now I can do wildlife photos now that where impossible to do with the old Fuji. Just didn't have the zoom to get the job done. Now with the new Fuji I've been experimenting with lighting, close ups, zoom, and combinations of things and wow! What a difference. No longer have to stuff a camera down in a dark hole and hope the flash and focus can do the job. Now I can stand back zoom in and all the features of the camera are aiding in producing a OK picture. Of course auto everything is just going to get you by. But I'm impressed with the power of the camera.
  24. Who would know I get to work on such beautiful vehicles that are mostly all original. There are a few that he bought that are modified but still clean and straight vehicles. Few hot rods in there I'm just waiting for the day when he fires some up in the summer and goes for a ride... As for his daily driver it happens to be a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L V8 Gasser with a 47RE transmission. Already worked on that rig did a manifold gasket and plenum gasket. Then his work / tow vehicle I think is a 2006 Ford Powerstroke 6.0L nice truck.
