  1. An old trailer thread I think I should toss a few new ones on too... :whistle:2013 Bigtex 70TV trailer I purchased...My first haul of firewood in the BigTex 70TV trailer a bit light but still getting the feel for it.
  2. Empty truck is no problem lifting from the diff housing. The dry rear axle weight of my truck is 2,860# so its a long ways from the 6,084# gross limits. The front axle is 4,440# dry weight so its not suggest to single jack the front in the center because all the weight. But now if the truck was loaded with cargo I would not lift from the diff at all but as close to the springs as possible.
  3. Actually I do understand really well just the fact we had filled 2 fold-a-tanks with 2,400 gallons of water and the the tender sitting there with 1,200 gallons saves the engine crews the 9 mile round trip down to the creek to draft water. So they only have to roll out about 2 miles round trip and load up from our crew and not even draft we will pump to the fill port or top load if they want. You just start getting punchy by the time the type 2 team leaves and you are back to smaller type 3 that isn't doing much. Last few day they might of taken 600 gallons off the water tender to give you a idea. Even the engine boss was saying we are not empty but figure its slow so we'll top off with water to given everyone something to do.
  4. At the time of my adventure there wasn't any HX35W turbos available any where. I was stuck with getting it rebuilt. Yeah ISX is right I have more damage done to mine. :banghead:
  5. For historic reasons... Here is the web information on the fires... Rough Creek http://www.inciweb.org/incident/3512/ Electronic Site Fire - This didn't get listed for some reason but it was a small 6 acre burn with in about 1/4 mile of the Cold Spring Repeater.
  6. I missed that... :doh:But here is a video on spin balancing turbo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMA5RFpGRbg
  7. Mopar's Notes: P0500 Error Code - Explained Since 4 wheel anti lock brakes rely on 2 front axle sensors and 1 rear wheel sensor. The CAB (Controller Anti lock Brakes) is watching the speed output from all 3 sensors at one time. So when on a slick surface like ice, gravel, wet pavement, etc. when you accelerate rapidly and cause the rear tires to spin the rear speed sensor jumps up in speed rapidly and the front 2 sensor could be at zero speed yet. So the CAB (Controller Anti lock Brakes) can't understand how the rear half of the truck is doing say 35 MPH and the front half is doing 0 MPH. POOF! P0500 code is thrown. http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/23-brake-system/29-antilock-braking-system-abs
  8. I'm finally completed both Electronic Site Fire and the Rough Creek Fire. I'm not officially off duty from both fires and now back to normal life again. I'll admit I'm a bit sore and tire not that sitting next to a water tender and filling engines with water was tough job, it's just that long days and short nights tend to eat at you. Glad to be back to a normal life.
  9. APPS sensor fail that causes dead pedal willl 99% of the time set a P0121, P0122 or P0123 error code. The other dead pedal that doesn't set codes is either VP44 failure or ECM failure (rare). So please read your code and report back.
  10. Yea... Most of us don't even have isolators. Now I've heard all the tales of "I don't want to have a fuel leak in the cab" so why do people plumb a oil pressure gauge into the cab with nylon tubing and 60-80 PSI of black engine oil in the cab? Nothing said about that?! But plumb into the cab a small 14-20 PSI fuel line with Air brake line that has a burst rating of 600-800 PSI and its a OMG moment! Never made any sense.
  11. I paid $820 for the full rebuild on my HX35W but there is one thing they are not doing is spin balancing the turbo. So I kind of understand why the price would be lower.
  12. I'm also the same way I don't own much for autos and don't really care for them. But diesel4life is right you might want to double check the neutral safety switches and verify its not any safety system locking it out by chance.
  13. I would call Pureflow on a warranty issue on the fuel regulator. A good AirDog or Raptor only drops about 2-3 PSI from idle to WOT. If you have any stock fuel lines left you must get get of them to and change Big Line Kit. You pressures are getting way too low. 6-10 is damaging pressure and most likely caused the P0216.Good Fuel pressure is 14-20 PSI.
  14. Actually its kind of backwards... Used trailers typically have no issues because the previous owners dealt with them. Then new trailer typically 80-90% of new trailer owners show up over on the RV forums complaining about quality and workmanship. Then you full-time usage of the RV is not normal because the definition of RV is a part-time dwelling not a full-time. So lot of RV manufactures tend to look down on the full time usage. Like I said before my used Jayco was in excellent condition everything worked just a few minor issues. But I've never looked back...
  15. That is one of the reasons I bought a used RV and not new. Just like when I bought a new truck I been back down to the dealer three time to fix warranty issues (Water Pump, Pinion Seal, and VP44) So I didn't want to even consider buying a new RV because of this issue. But now my utility trailer I did buy new because I didn't want to deal with hunting for a utility trailer that was abused. So there is a place for everything but its really common so see new owners of RV do exactly want your doing is complaining about there new RV because of all the issues. I will say it smarter to not live and a RV till you gotten at least a year of just weekend trip to debug the new RV. Like I said it really common to see several issues or complaints of manufacture quality.
  16. I too have had a close call with lightning storms and really like to watch but hate to see it too close. I'll never forget the smell of lightning... It's very spooky...
  17. Kind like my buddy and I on the fire line. We wear bandanna's and keep them soaking wet by dipping them in the fold-a-tanks or creek. In the heat of the day find a shady spot under a tree. Limit the exposure in the direct sunlight if possible. Like this fire we been very lucky to just be working a water tender and filling fold-a-tanks or small wildland engines. But we are seeing close to 100*F weather just about every day. http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=45.4221105&lon=-116.31541099999998&site=all&smap=1&searchresult=Riggins%2C%20ID%2083549%2C%20USA#.UevTruFx2Bw
  18. 5" down to 4" is a noise reduction and there is actual no need for 5" till well over 500 HP. Your no where near that. I'm still running 3" exhaust and getting better MPG than you are most likely. Exhaust size is mostly for racing. 3" Exhaust is still capable of touching as a maximum of 25-26 MPG and everyday towing also 3" is rather very quiet even without a muffler. Daily driving for me to give you idea of flow. I've typically see 2-3 PSI on the highway at 55 MPH and towing maybe 7-10 PSI. Absolutely no EGT's problem even towing.
  19. No such thing... Cam and crank sensors create a frequency pulse for the ECM so there is no way to hot wire it. All you can do is replace the sensors. But I've never had any problems with cam sensor as of yet. So its rather rare for those. But Crank sensors do fail but typically give notice of fail with error codes and dropping tach.
  20. Like my truck has a full life of heavy hauling of trailers or just cargo in the bed still no issues with 5th gear nut.
  21. Yeah I got my fingers in too many pies at times... But Yeah. Brian and Dylan are to great guys trying to build up a web site for the Smarty Programmer. Hopefully with the help of these two gents we can glean me information on tune these great Cummins engine making them better. (Wave Magic Wand) -= POOF! =- You now granted access...
  22. Welcome to the family hopefully you have some tales and information to share as well.
  23. You might have that A/C looked at on your little Cirrus see if it can be improved. I know what you mean its over 105*F in Riggins, ID and like 95-98*F on the hill where we are still working the fire and I'm hiding under trees to keep cool while waiting for engines to come out for water from our tender. Nasty hot these days. So you be careful and hide from the heat for now.
  24. Remember this will cost you fuel to use to get the heat. So typically I use it till about 100*F and then bail out. But for those day that are icy it wonderful. I'm also in a hole too so as I climb up out of the hole it gets colder.
  25. Oh I'm not too worried about it... There is friends around here that ask me to haul their firewood so I get paid a little bit for fuel and time and do the truck driving for them. Most of my friends either don't have pickups or small Dakota's... :duh:Not like I'm loading up and hauling across state lines... Basically going maybe 40-60 miles round trip. Mostly up forest roads.
