  2. You don't need a chimney brush you just need to light the other fire. Then call the Salmon River Rural Fire Dept. (True thing I get plenty of chimney fire calls)Oh I didn't know your party line was nailed to that tree? (Real thing back in the day they used old 1 wire party lines for the USFS look out towers)Oh don't worry about the chimney running horizontally along the ceiling.   3. Look out below the temperature are going to drop to single digits for my place. That means batten down the hatches and move to the living room for sleeping area. It just too cold at those temperatures to heat the entire house so we shut down the bedrooms and the extra rooms down stairs and just heat the living room & kitchen. Take notice its going to break minimum temp records for those days. Oh man its going to be minus temps in New Meadows, ID proper... Ekkk...

  7. Between pull the truck out of the shop, then getting to the gate and opening the gate, then closing the gate and locking it, then get to the highway waiting for traffic its had more than enough time to idle and warm up. Starting temps are typically above 32*F.

  10. I'm using a mechanical gauge but just plumbed directly to the gauge with air brake line. Exactly what all the big over the truck use for plumbing for air, oil pressure and other gauges. Soft copper tubing is known for flex failures so that why I typically warn against copper tubing usage. Most people get carried away and use steel braided lines which is total over kill and typically very difficult to route in the dash. Where air brake line is oil and fuel ready and with a needle valve if the line should leak it will not spray but merely drip and a fast pace. If a line was to fail and start to leak trust me you'll smell it for sure. At that point just shut the needle valve and continue till your travels till you home where you can fix it. My past history with old school nylon tubing it will work but the nylon gets brittle under the hood and typically gets broke while working on the engine. I normally broke mine are at the compression fitting. After getting tried of that I found air brake line and never had a single problem after that.
  11. Strange but true... But mostly lean meat and veggies and drop as much salt (sodium) out of your diet. I cut back soda pop to occasionally drink mostly water and fruit juice. I normally don't eat breakfast till about 10-11am some days skipped completely on the breakfast and eat a light lunch. Then dinner back to the meat and veggies. My highest weight was 235-240 pounds. Now as of today 205 pounds hoping to break under 200 soon.Sure make it nice when you doing search and rescue or fire dept work and not packing all that body mass.

  13. That the weird thing in ranching or farm country trucks tend to hold there value for a long time. But now in the cities the value seems to fall for some weird reason. Texas being one of the lowest priced spots.
  14. Last time on the scale I weighed out at 205 lbs. I've lost my spare tire and my pants are falling off me now. I wear suspenders just to keep my britches from falling down with a fire radio, multi-tool, and a 9mm pistol on my hip.I'm not doing T-day here. Just going to be another day for me. Our neighbor down the road just stopped in with dinner rolls and blueberry pie. (Yummy!)So far my morning I loaded my trailer full of old stuff from the attic and haul it to the dump. I got to admit it was nice to drive the diesel for the first time in nearly a month now. Fuel light is on and nearly out of fuel.
  15. Yes. There is a diaphragm right on top mark its position it came out. Then pull straight up. It might hang up on the fuel pin push it down and then pull back up. Then you get it out and be able to clean and lube the pin again. Check the wear of the pin as well. Turning the pin position will either steepen the fuel ramping or make it milder.   16. Cetane thing has always been viewed like octane higher the better. Thats backwards. Right out of the ASTM testing labs documents for Cetane. The ASTM Standard Specification for Diesel Fuel Oils (D-975) states, "The cetane number requirements depend on engine design, size, nature of speed and load variations, and on starting and atmospheric conditions. Increase in cetane number over values actually required does not materially improve engine performance. Accordingly, the cetane number specified should be as low as possible to insure maximum fuel availability."

  23. Yes. Its controlled by the IAT sensor and connected with the Fuel cutoff solenoid. The under the cap where the smoke screw and the starwheel is at will contain a diaphragm, spring and a fuel pin. The star wheel sets the prelod on the spring vs. boost. The fuel pin should be marked before removing because is ca be tuned by twisting. You'll see the offset of the pin when removed. My buddies 92 had dried up grease on it and tend to stick. After clean up and re-lubing it worked fine.
