  1. Too aggressive of a tire and over inflated will decrease MPG's. I would suggest next set of tire to drop back to a normal tread pattern and then with this set use the inflation formula to get the right tire pressures. Like for my Coopers (which are very close to your Toyo) you'll see the inflation pressures in the article. But for every 4 pounds of rubber you can ditch will require 1 less HP to keep rolling. My current 235/85 R16's are about 62-63 pounds per tire in weight. http://articles.mopar1973man.com/general-cummins/35-exterior/354-tire-inflation-formula Double check your actual IAT temps. Optimal point of IAT temp should be between 100-140*F roughly. For every 10*F below 100* you see you'll lose roughly 1 MPG. I never used any synthetic oils in my truck I do well in the 20's for MPG's. So synthetics are not required to reach this point. The only way to test a VP44 is to pull it out send it back to a Certified VP44 pump rebuilding like industrial injection and pay them $300 bucks to run the VP44 on the Bosch 815 test stand for 3 hours to certify if the pump is damaged or not. There is no test for the end user to verify the condition of the pump other than error codes and fuel pressure. Here is my fuel logs over the lofe of my truck. Now peek at my signature...
  2. I'll give you a call tomorrow sometime around noon or so. I got to make a quick run to New Meadows, ID and I'll take care of you as soon as I get home.
  3. That tube seen in the picture is the engine oil feed line. It feeds oil into vacuum pump to lube the parts of the vacuum pump. So as time and age of the seals for the vacuum pump shaft it will start leaking oil out like mine is and get worse over time. Like Dripley he had Exxon Valdez I'd rather fix small problem early on than wait too long and have another big issue.
  4. Sorry to hear about your mis-adventure with the trailer. I do know what a frost heave is we get them up here in Idaho. So I'll say a few prayers for your safe travels from here on out.
  5. If the Wait to Start is not lighting up then the ECM isn't booted up. There is not going to be any engine function at all unless you see that light. Double check all fuses and battery connections too. I hate to say for its a ECM and find out a bad connection or a blown fuse is causing all this grief. Also have you alternator tested for AC noise output it should be less than 0.1 Volts AC.
  6. She not leaking on the floor yet but starting to consume engine oil. Just to get a 5 gallon bucket of oil I need to drive over 120 miles round trip. I've enjoyed 10 years of not having to add oil. Now when I check the stick at 7k miles on this oil change I'm down 2 quarts already and already added 1 quart back.
  7. Sound like a electric motor failure. Most likely it bound up and drawing more amps than normal which is blowing the fuse.
  8. Got a free moment to crawl under the Cummins with my camera and shoot a picture of the leaking area.
  9. If I worked in a city fire dept with hydrants I would do the very same thing too. But alias out here in Rural Idaho the only hydrant we got is the Salmon River and and a Honda Pump.
  10. Truly sad to see other fire fighters lose there lives to fire. Also have to keep in the bad of your head how dangerous this job is. Like during our Red Card training this year we had a awesome class that was based solely on local and historic events. During this one video it showed how 2 fire fighter lost there life to a fire because of poor planning. So also remember you have the right to say "I won't do it, just to dangerous of a task." This applies to rural fire fighters right up to hotshots and specialized crews. I think the Good Lord has given me a good sense of when to flee. So far every time I get that feeling and bolt right it seem like the fire has over taken our spot. Like on Heavens Gate fire we were just a water tender for the fire. Small maybe 20-25 acre lightning fire. Weather started to warm, light breeze, etc. Started getting the feeling this isn't good. Well we had a empty tank and started down to get a load of water. By the time we returned with 1,000 gallons more people were getting panicky. It blew up. We managed to get turned around again and head down within about 10-15 minutes it over took the very spot we were last parked in. This very same thing happen with the Sheep fire last year. I got the very same feeling to bail out and sure enough the fire burned right on through the area where the tender was parked.
  11. 8-12 cords of firewood - since I burned up my reserves I need to pull another 4-6 cords yet to cover my tail just in case like last year. I ended up working the forest fires till snow fly and wasn't able to get out to get wood so my backup pile saved the day. Approximately 2 acres of yard to mow, water and weedwack. Irrigation dam 1/3 mile back that has to be kept up for us and the other 2 homes down here. Maintain the power system, inverter, batteries, pelton wheel, etc. Keeping 2 Dodge trucks rolling, all the yard equipment (wood splitter, lawn mower, ATV, etc.) Plow snow in the winter time. Then typical house maintenance, painting walls, shampooing rugs, plumbing, roof issues, etc. Then toss on the fact 90% of what you need is in Boise, ID or Ontario, OR. So this now throws in the time and mileage factor. Like planning for a trailer. Drove down to look at measure, talk, etc. Then come home think about it and then drive back week or so later to get it in between the other stuff too. Like food shopping you could shop locally but you pay dearly price wise or you can wrap up your shopping trip to Boise, ID and hit WinCo and make a huge saving buying in bulk. Then bring it back home and put it away. So then I'm wrapped up with both Search & Rescue and Fire Dept. So there is more that requires attention... Then you toss on top that I deal with the server for my site "Mopar1973Man.Com" and 8 other web sites too... more stuff to handle. So right now tonight I got a fire meeting and extremely hot weather. Ugh. Kind of nice give me more slack time but not much...
  12. Remember both Whitelightning and myself are both 4WD truck so that is a apple to apple compare. But now fuel system wise and injectors tosses a monkey wrench in. ISX is a hard one to catch in MPG's I've touch 25 MPG once and only once. But over my life of the fuel logs I typically can hold 20-23 MPG on the open road, 16-18 hauling firewood, and 13-14 hauling the RV. But then you also have to consider what you building for and why. More HP/TQ the lower typically the MPG's will get. There is those rare few that can get a good mix of both.
  13. Err... Umm.. Open mouth insert foot. I know I crunched numbers with ISX on this before but for the life of me couldn't remember all the number differences. From what he math'ed out one night on the phone was a very small difference he calculated down to the last mole (atom). So what out having the facts... I dumped the post. But as for the IAT sensor and temp change from stock air box to BHAF there is none that I've found. The only thing I found between BHAF & Stock box is the filter don't seal good and leak dust bad. Stock Air Filter are too small and restrictive. Even playing with the turbo temp calculator there is such a small rise in manifold temp from a rise in intake temp. From 80-130*F intake to may 5-10*F manifold roughly speaking. Once again without all the fact of measurements but plugging numbers and playing. http://www.stealth316.com/2-turbotemp.htm
  14. No. You can't barrow it. But you can hire me out to haul what you want... Thanks... It takes a lot of work to keep this place going. Right now everything is at a stand still till this heat wave goes over. Going to be another 100+ day here.
  15. I'll have to agree to disagree with the BHAF...
  16. ... and you didn't stop to say "Hi!"??? Shame on you...
  17. Long ways from ISX yet... (25-27 MPG) I'm still above 20 MPG with a VP44 & +50HP Injectors... Time to tune that thing in...
  18. Done... 0 sent / 0 waiting...
  19. I always have a hard time remember everyone else abuses there truck. In my case there is 0 ZERO rusty bolts.
  20. Hex0rz...It was 101*F here at the house for a high and 110*F in Riggins, ID today as my buddy Kelly told me tonight. Tomorrow is suppose to be the hottest day yet. Suppose to reach 104*F. It was so hot today we had to abandon the living room and shut down the computers 86-88*F in the house and go down in the basement. At least there the rooms are maybe 70-73*F. Man... It sucks I get a phone call tonight to do A/C recharge on 2 Dodge Vans for the rafting company in Riggins, ID. I told the owner that I want to have access to the Van early morning to get the job done. But really what is bothering me is the haze tonight. It looks like a smoke haze blowing in from the west looking north of the house. Man this is not the time to end up with a fire call.
  21. Well would you let me do a total purge of it? :shrug:It's your sent folder that is full of 55 messages.
  22. Want me to purge your PM's?
  23. From what i've been told that Mopar filter are just re-badged Fleetguard filters. But I know that some of the other Mopar Filters are just Fram filters.
  24. I wouldn't suggest a DDRP pump... The only way I would do that is to buy a big line kit and relocation bracket to move it back by the fuel tank. Pumps are not design to suck fuel a long distance but to push it a long distance so relocate back by the tank with 3/8 or 1/2 inch plumbing then your good.
