Firewood
Excuse me I've lost weight... I'm down to 205 lbs now... I was 235 lbs last winter... All good. Even fat people gotta eat... Unlimited??? Free??? Ummm... No. I hardly doubt that... I've got to buy a firewood permit to even cut wood $20 bucks for 4 cords. As for my old firewood hole I'm going to have to turn my back on it. Even though there is a ton of standing dead trees I'm getting tired of the so-so wood. This last batch seem to be more punk in it. So with the new forest fires that burned its time to investigate the new burned areas for new firewood sources.

DANGER! Becareful with this method...Single hand saw running is very dangerous! But what I'll do to test the saw is cutting true is start the saw cutting into a log and release the handle bar and hang on to the throttle. Let the saw fall under its own weight if the chain is dull on one side it will stop cutting but if the chain is truly sharp then it should continue to fall/cut under its own weight.Tomorrow in the daylight I'll get out the chainsaw and show you a few pictures of wore out bars and dull chains.Take a close look at the tip of this cutter its been hit on a rock. Blunt nosed and worthless. My old 26" bar and chain need replacing.Pushing the chain away from me... On the next two ipicture look at the teeth they are totally dull.Pulling the chain towards me. You can see the movement. Bar is wasted...

Firewood
Well since the weather has been mild I've been busy doing catch up on the firewood here so I'm ready for old man winter to strike. So here is a collection of pictures...So here is the 1996 Dodge 1500 getting in on the action of hauling firewood. (MoparMom is hiding!)MoparMom helping out stacking wood. Then I had to have my pic taken too...And then the group shot..

[*]Chain isn't sharpen properly [*]Chain bar is wore out and not holding the chain true vertical [*]Pulling hard on one side of the handle bar What does your chips look like long nearly stringy or dusty and small? A sharp chain should have nice long chips. Does your chain rock left to right in the bar? Shouldn't. The chain should have little to none rocking left to right. When you cutting are you forcing the chain into the wood or are you letting the chain cut on it own? Looking at the pic I say your forcing rather hard and digging the saw dogs into it. Sign its dull...

First winter snow are you ready?
Operational limit specs. As for what happens I'm not sure. Warped or cracked head, etc.

:rolleyes:I watch people out here in Idaho with either electric heat or propane heat that basically pay $300-$500 per month to stay warm. As for myself for $300-$500 per year in fuel, permits, saw supplies, etc. I can have enough firewood for entire winter season if not some for next season.Winter out here is officially from October 15 to April 15. Those are the dates to close down all irrigation systems state wide. Basically 6 months of cold freezing weather.

:lol:Well I'm down to 3 pieces of miscellaneous fir. But I got a shed full of dry split wood. Just roll the truck down and load it up. Bring it back to the house and stack it in the wood hole.

Time to change the anti freeze
If it was me I would wait till a warmer weather day when you can do it properly and flush it all out and load it properly without the worry of freezing.

First winter snow are you ready?
Huh? Unless they are chasing the performance craze and looking for colder everything. If a 200*F would fit a 24V I would jump on it. 2010 6.7L 200*F Theremostat (2 25/64" x 29/32" x 1 1/8" x 49/64") 2020 5.9L 190*F Thermostat (2 25/64" x 29/32" x 1 1/8" x 49/64") So according to RockAuto.Com measurements it should fit...

SAR's call...

SAR's call...
No. I was at the top of the mountain with the ATV when he rolled in the base case and the bottom of the mountain. Well at least he's fine and I got to go out and enjoy the fall ride on the ATV and meet up with SAR friends...

SAR's call...
Well I'm home quick... The hunter walk past his trail missed camp and didn't return to camp that night but walked into base camp we had at the bottom of the mountain. So it was a nice ride on the ATV...The hunter had a good sense of humor he standing there next to the Sheriff and said, " Yeap! I'm the one you want to kick the crap out off. Everyone row up and take your shot!" I laughed a bit and told it best that your still sucking air and alive to tell us you OK. That's the good news!

EDGE EZ ?
Mopar1973Man replied to DUCKHUNTN_NACUMMINS's topic in 2nd Generation Dodge Reliability / PerformanceMAP sensor plugs and MAP sensor voltages are different. Then the pin assignment on the MAP sensor is also different. Don't think of chopping a plug off and wiring on another. Won't work.

Ummm... I've got nearly 8-9 cords in the yard now and splitting wet firewood. So what I got to do is ran with the dry stuff in the shed and stack the wet stuff out in the yard to allow it to dry some more under a tarp. I learn my learn long ago you never split wet firewood and stack it in front of you dry.

New injectors, do I need a bigger hammer?!

New VP, now how to add power....
Midwest fuel injection also does new computers too. (At least what I've heard).

Run my 2001 dodge out of fuel now will not pick up fuel air dog 100 just got tow in
Ok. Is the lift pump functional? Is the filter plugged? Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/25-fuel-system/49-fuel-pressure-specification-for-bosch-vp44-injection-pumps Did you try to prime the fuel system? http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/25-fuel-system/90-repriming-a-bosch-vp44-injection-system More ideas here... http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/26-engine-systems/40-basic-diagnostics

New injectors, do I need a bigger hammer?!
Here is how I've been doing it. Place the injector in the hole and then slip the cover in place and lever back down to seat the injector. Notes Then tighten your cross over tube before you even think of putting that bolt in the cover.

New VP, now how to add power....
The top 3 killers of VP44's.1. Lack of fuel pressure.2. Lack of lubricity.3. Lack of filtration. To this day I've never seen a wire tap kill a VP44. Seriously. Usually one of the above things that kills it. Just Bosch rebuilders love to blame the owners for mods because they make more money that way. :whistle:I listened to all the horror stories too and got to the point and said, "Screw it! I'm going forward just like everyone else on this planet did." If it wasn't for the wire tap we wouldn't be making serious horsepower with these engine and would be the laughing stock of the diesel world. But this is your truck and your money so you can listen or ignore me your choice...

How much water are you talking about?

First winter snow are you ready?
Rule of thumb for 4WD and tire chain users. I typically run around everywhere in the winter in 2WD. If I've got to run 4WD I should reconsider what I'm doing because I'm using my last line of defence from getting stuck. I might use 4WD to get moving on slick ground is fine but I return back to 2WD. Now if I'm going up a plowed forestry road to a friends house. Yes, I'll used 4WD but still thinking about the last line of defence is my chains. Now if you 4WD and chain up and you got stuck your somewhere you really don't need to be. So I've gotten use to being solely 2WD most of the winter time. There is so many people that assume they will just use 4WD and there fine. They will never get stuck. Yeah Right. When they do get stuck they are screw because they used their Ace to fast and now don't have anything but to get walkin'... No chains, No studs, No 4WD...

Sitting for a year - any suggestions?
Park it. Disconnect the batteries. That's it.When you return you might put a 2 amp charger on the batteries. Check over all the fluids. Then fire it up. As for diesel fuel its not like gasoline where it evaporates. Diesel is a light oil product and shouldn't evaporate. So there is no real need to treat diesel fuel like gasoline which does evaporate out. As for the fluid of the truck if they are not in bad shape or close to due time/miles then there is no need to change a bunch of fluid if stored in a shop/garage. Now if it was outside I would consider the fluid change more so because of moisture collecting in the axle, transmission, etc.
