  1. What I'm finding out it takes a special kind of person to drive with performance mods and get good MPG's from it. The best learning tool is the ScanGauge II that will aid you in tuning as well as how to drive the vehicle getting the most from MPG's.
  2. Correct... It vacuum controlled so if the vacuum line is damaged the the vents will not operate properly.
  3. Be aware of the double stacking lift pumps. I had a local Dodge Cummins with the exact same setup. What happen is the first pump (rear) was pushing so hard that it shoved the regulator BB out of the second pump (front stock) and started chewing up the sliding vanes till it wedge the BB between the vane and pump housing and stop pumping pressure fell to ZERO and the truck died. What I found out is Carter / Federal Mogul pumps are not design to have any inlet pressure only vacuum so watch you pressure gauge closely. I ended up doing a service call on this truck because neither the owner or the shop it was at knew enough about Cummins fuel systems to figure out why it died. But this is what I learned about double stack lift pumps (Carters) and the damages it could or can do.I ended up replacing the front lift pump and remove all the rear add on lift pump and the truck ran fine. I also warned the owner to get gauges but still hasn't.
  4. So if the fuel pressure is low enough and the command for timing change is given and the timing doesn't change POP! P0216 code is there. Typically because the fuel pressure dropped to low and there wasn't enough pressure to push the timing cam.
  5. This is what you don't want to happen... So be careful of where you put it.
  6. No problem... If I can haul around 8K pound travel trailer and get 13-14 MPG I'm sure you not going to have much for issues either.
  7. Sorry I don't... But there is always ISX (The Living Cummins 12V Manual!) If you find one I'll add it to the site instantly...
  8. There are some people on the planet that should never own a vehicle. Like a hitch cover on a friends truck says... "You can't fix stupid!"
  9. Right on... Maybe you'll get it.
  10. Yea... I would put a test gauge on it and see where your at. Is it the gauge/isolator or the pump?
  11. That's terrible. Well I'm back to creeping along with miles being I'm doing 99% of my travels on the ATV.
  12. For gasoline engine not diesel. :rolleyes:ECM controls the Fuel pump relay for the VP44.
  13. Welcome to the family... Well make yourself at home and ask plenty of questions and start plenty of threads!
  14. No you can't all the fuses under the hood are live 24/7 so there is no way to shut it off... That why I told you about the fuses in the cab that are key switch active.
  15. You might consider pulling the injectors and pop testing them.
  16. Bands adjusted properly? Valve body issues? Pressure issues? :shrug:I know my stock 46RE in my 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 has never had any debris in the pan since I've owned it! (112K to 149K from 2002)Auto trans are not my cup of tea...
  17. I noticed the same thing to. I know this filter is not going to filter properly either because the core roll is larger and the seal ring isn't cutting the roll like in the past and the roll being narrower is allowing it to slide in the can vertical. So now I know this fall I'll contact Debbie in Nampa, ID and find out if she has update filter part for me. www.wefilterit.com
  18. Here is a corrected link. But your going to need to get past limited member... Let me know I'll get you hooked. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=220
  19. Late to the party as usual... :banghead:Hmmm... Strange as it is MoparMom is tone deaf the upper freq's she has a hard time hearing like the phone ringers (digital). But its great to have another tech to the family.
  20. Fuse 9, 11, 17, or 19...
  21. You've got transmission problems it sound like. 83% of throttle to hold 40 MPH running 2,748 RPM's... Holy Cow! That a lot of drag going on... Typically at 55 MPH for me is about 8-15% of throttle at 1,689 RPM's consuming roughly 2.4 GPH and load of 10-20% on semi-flat ground.
  22. Hook it up here this is the start / run fuses of the power distribution. (Cab fuses)
