  1. Remember on thing... "Boost doesn't make power fuel does" So now saying that you can still have good power and lower boost pressure and still make good power but now your EGT's rise quickly. This is the most common problem with guys getting large injectors... Lots of smoke but not enough boost to clear the smoke and control the EGT's. Even when I blew a single 6mm bolt out of the manifold I was down to a max boost pressure of 8 PSI still had all the power I want but smoke and EGT's... Holy chit dude! The whole thing cause by 1 single 6mm bolt popping out of manifold.
  2. That's what my steel white spoke rim are for my rescue boat of tire... And they did exactly that! Now to get ready to day to get the new rims and rubber! (Bling!)
  3. No... OBDII can't see that... Just like the 2nd Gen 24V... Only different is the CR is electrically fired not pressure. Like said before lack of boost pressure... Might be time to throw some gauges in...
  4. It was confirmed years ago on a dyno by a fellow Cummins owner they ran with and without a silencer ring and both runs basically where the same. So no there is no change in performance just sound...
  5. OMG... Thats funny...
  6. I'm nearly out of firewood! Burned nearly 12.5 cords...
  7. That explains it... AirTex doesn't have the volume rate you need... Airtex is like 35-40 GPH... Then all the stock plumbing is restrictive...
  8. Question how much do they weigh a piece (tire & wheel both)???
  9. Someone hitch on to that 95-100*F weather and tow some up here to central Idaho... Man today is going to max out as 59*F again... Cold, breezy, and cloudy... Nasty weather... Give me some weather worth drinking beer over Geez?!?!
  10. Too much restriction or air leak... You got to go back over the fuel system... From 18 at idle I got to 16 PSI at 80 MPH at WOT... 2-3 PSI drop is fine but a 9 PSI drop is a serious problem... * Stock fuel system (which I doubt since your at 18 PSI)* Suction restriction* Still got the stock line between the VP44 and stock filter* Suction air leak* Defective lift pump
  11. I got about 3-4 pages in and quit for the moment...
  12. Go to this link... http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/96-jeep-cherokee-need-opinions-1149721/ Then read post 1 and then post 2
  13. Smarty... It's causing the error code... If you reset to stock and clear the codes you'll be fine... But as soon as you run a Smarty program the error will show up... Of course because you modifying the stock fueling tables in the ECM and the checksum doesn't match any longer...
  14. Fuel pressure... (Idle and WOT operation at highway speed).
  15. Reason being is because all them are produced from Naptha (coleman fuel), Mineral Spirits (paint thinner), Napthalene (moth balls), Xylene (paint thinner) all of these have much lower BTU content compared to the diesel fuel. Just look up the MSDS sheet on any of them...
  16. Well this week I plan on hitchin' up and hauling out... But out here in Idaho everything is either up and down or twisting roads. So getting to 55 MPH is about all I can muster without getting crazy. I've got a killer video I just shot yesterday I need to finsh editing and get uploaded to YouTube but its from Grangevile, ID to close to Lucile, ID showing the Whitebird Grade (7%) and the Salmon River at high water... Video coming soon...
  17. Glad it was a easy fix...
  18. As for the white smoke (I'm going to be honest..) It not a good sign typically if you check you might find a P0216 error code which happens to be a death code for the VP44 injection pump. This goes hand in hand with the fuel pressure if the pressure is too low it causes this damage to occur. As for the black smoke it could be the wastegate, boost leak, or a plugged up air filter. (Lack of air - Boost) typically a boost gauge is handy for figuring this out. So you got a few things to check fuel pressure and error codes... As for the fuel pressure we need both idling anf WOT operation at highway speeds.
  19. Sounds like a time to grab a can of expanding foam and fill those gaps. Stuff with steel wool first but put a layer of foam over it...
  20. Ouch... Well take care of yourself and we'll keep your spot here warm for ya... If you can get your wife (or friend) keep us updated... Get yourself fixed up...
  21. Correct... If the fuel is uncontrolled into the cylinder as the cylinder goes into compression stroke it pushes the fuel past the rings and into the oil. Common rail engines are know for this issue if not delt with quickly it will take the rings out and create some serious blowby... @ OP... As for the connector tube if its loose it typically leaks out on the manifold of the head more so than into the return rail typically. Unless there is a damaged connector tube and its not sealing then there would be the leakage into the return rail but typically get a misfire with it as well...
  22. Addition to the diesel owners... Avoid using BioDiesel and cetane boosters if you can for the same reason...
  23. More information coming on the tires... I'll get pics of this stuff...
