  1. Getting slower out here. I'm use to getting up at 6am and watching the truckers stream through the canyon in the early morning hours. No school bus, no truckers, highway is quiet. Work wise I'm now at the point of running out. I've got a few nickle and dime jobs but Not really worth jumping out the door today for. As for safety sake if Eileen get any medical problems or appointments I'm geared up with the RV. All the bedding is washed and cleaned. Reloaded with propane. Now to split up some food supplies for the RV and pack our clothes. My yard is big enough if others want to escape the city could come out here and camp on the lawn. Barely 33*F here but its an option.
  2. Finally in Riggins, ID turned into mad dash to get supplies now. Local grocery store is being raided fairly heavy. Limits placed on food and supplies. The local Chevron station that does repairs and tires is close till further notice. Most of the motels in town are empty. Restaurants are empty as well. I'm now going to be out of work and not looking for new job till things blow over a bit better.
  3. Anytime the TQ conv is unlocked. It doesn't even have to work hard to make it hot. An empty truck traveling speed limit of 15 MPH up grade is enough to over heat a transmission. This is really common out here with the steep climbs and automatic owners for all big 3 truck Ford, Dodge and Chevy. Hence why I having all the luck of changing transmissions.
  4. Kick in Riggins ID and New Meadows ID. Pollock is a smudge on the map not even a town. That would be like calling up Lucile ID also another non existent town.
  5. I never liked 5th wheels for the 25% pin weight they come with. I always loved bumper pulls you can have bigger RV but only 15% hitch weight and do fine. 5th wheels typically require a full one ton truck to do properly. Yeah @dripley should be on 1 ton truck for his too. Last time I scaled out I was -60 pounds from GVWR on the truck then only -3.000 pounds from GCWR. As for the trailer it was -500 pounds from GVWR.
  6. If you were to come here you would see normal activities still. No one is even worried or slowing down. I watched the news last night and watch how San Francisco is closing down all kinds of restaurants and places that 10 or more can gather. Here its just normal life.
  7. Just a fun day of pulling a Chevy Transmission. What is it with Chevy owners never change the gear box oil, check the level, or even thing about it. This one is locked up and transmission is being upgraded from the NV3500 to the NV4500.
  8. Not I said the fly. Already have my weapons, ammo, etc. Locally, Big cities like Lewiston, ID are now hoarding baby wipes, ammo, disinfectant wipes, etc. I know what Eileen's kids down in Boise area are saying about finding TP and other supplies. Bad timing on our part. Is that we started cleaning out the pantry in the basement. Most of the can goods were starting to rot the can and been on the shelf way too long. We tossed up most of it. Now the pantry is empty and we have a limited supply of canned food. Another one I do have is a few cases of top ramen. Then have a few cases of MRE's. We have managed to spread the food around the two building and now some out to the RV next. We are not in bad shape but limited. I'm hearing rumors of shut downs up to 2 to 8 weeks now.
  9. I'm the weirdest set up. I'm running 18.04.4 Ubuntu Linux. Then have Virtual Box with Windows 7. Then I can run the Quadzilla flash updater. Typically on Linux side I will call out the... lsusb This displays all the connected USB devices. Then using this information I can enable on the virtualbox the right USB device Im going to use. Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 001 Device 004: ID 058f:6364 Alcor Micro Corp. AU6477 Card Reader Controller Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 003 Device 003: ID 045e:00cb Microsoft Corp. Basic Optical Mouse v2.0 Bus 003 Device 002: ID 045e:0752 Microsoft Corp. Wired Keyboard 400 Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 005 Device 002: ID 04a9:26a3 Canon, Inc. MF4100 series Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Which gives you... Windows 7 running on top of Ubuntu 18.04.
  10. I've got to say thank you to all that have posted. This gives us a good idea of how bad things are going. For all you in larger cities please take your precautions and protect yourselves. Myself I'm going to bunk down right here at home and stay put. I know that Eileen has medical appointments but we are going to cautious as well. My 2002 Dodge is back in action. I've got a few things to fix. RV on the other hand Eileen pull all the bedding and washed it. We are starting to pack it with supplies and food. Even updated the Quadzilla software to the 2.8.4 firmware. Now for the 1996 Dodge I've got to figure out some minor issues. Most likely need to change the trans fluid and filter. Shifting weird. Eileen has a medical assistant behind her. She has been following this and advising her kids as well. They stay in contact all the time through Facebook messenger (video chat). Weather wise it should start warming up around here heading into the 60's the next few days. At least warmer weather you can be outside and don't have to be under a roof.
  11. @Dynamic What is is that Smarty software with TQ Man feature allows for much more fuel at low speeds. This means either light throttle or heavy throttle usage. This now changes the TV cable position without adjusting. Pepsi can go up on power and have it shifting early because more power less throttle. Now go down in power and need more throttle now it shift later. Basically what is happening is the Smarty is at 100% throttle by your actually at 30 to 35% throttle actually.
  12. Like my 46RE I've got a clamp on temp sensor for now till I get the bung and weld it in at the next fluid change. At least this is the hot line leaving the transmission to the cooler. As @Dynamic would say the fluid in the pan is what the transmission is going to use right now. The hot line is the temperature of the torque converter and it waste fluid headed for the cooler. Test ports are not useable because that fluid will not move for long periods if the transmission isn't shift constantly or using that port. The the fluid temp is just heat soak.
  13. Temperature is invalid. That is not a flowing fluid port. Either you need to tap the cooler line or weld a bung into the pan.
  14. I've got good neighbors that will keep an eye on things. Older people have a bit harder time fighting Coronavirus. It inflames the wind pipe and lung tissue creating a breathing issues and possible death. So far it only affecting older folks the most. There is a few cases of younger people but they tend to fight it rather easy.
  15. Yup. I went into Riggins, ID and did a bit more shopping. Shocker! We have toilet paper, bleach, disinfectant wipes, etc. The fact is eventually that will dry up and not be restocked in the future. I was informed that the supplies they have now will not be replaced for some time being the bigger cities are eating it up. Now I came up with the ultimate protection idea. Since I'm out here in Central Idaho why not wait till it get a bit worse and I'm packing to the wood with my RV in tow and stay away from people. We can always sneak home in the evenings and grab more stock of food and goodies. Then during the crisis just stay out in the back country away from people. I've got better faith in drinking from local creeks than most of the bottled drinks.
  16. All @pepsi71ocean has to do is change his tune on the Smarty and it will change the shift parameters because the TQ man setting gets fuel down lower causing the throttle to be lighter than other other tunes and now it shifts different because TV cable is pulled less.
  17. OK I stand corrected... Then I'm only ~90k behind... Keep trucking...
  18. Yes I'll take precautions toward the virus. Like Eileen and I already talked about her medical appointments in Boise. Instead of staying in motel rooms and eating out in restaurants which give you the highest contact chance of getting the virus. Why not just pull my RV down to Parma, ID or Boise St. Luke's (RV lot). Then just stay with our own stuff. Yeah I might have more to spend fuel wise but the eating out and motel cost are gone. Personally, I would just rather stay away from crowds and close contact with people as much as possible. As for my own health I'm running on my 3rd winter without a cold. I'm taking a multi-vitamin, hawthorn berry (blood pressure), and then benadryl. There is a huge perk to living way out here in the forest of Idaho. The chances of me getting the virus is even lower. Typically working alone in my shop on trucks. Local grocery store still have toilet paper. Everyone is just normal up here. Now go to Boise, Ontario, or Lewiston. OMG! People turn into crazed idiots. Toilet paper all gone, bleach is all gone, sanitizing wipes all gone, etc. Just plain stupid. I'm kind of glad Mom passed on with her need of dialysis would of for sure at some point got her infected and brought it home to Eileen and myself. Being dialysis centers are one be open room with people coughing and sneezing. Last year there was a case of pneumonia going around dialysis center, which mom caught a bit of and managed to fight off.
  19. I know its been a while since my last posting. Finally getting control of my life. This is my first weekend at home in a very long time. Last weekend I ended up taking Eileen back to the hospital with stomach pains and vomiting again. After being there for 4 days find out that Eileen has issues with her pancreas. After 4 days in the hospital they finally nail it down more, but still have more medical testing and such down in Boise. In the meantime I got my transmission back from Weller truck and they told me sorry for the two bad sets of syncros. Covered under warranty. Truck drives nice and shifts smooth once again. Now I'm focused on getting the RV cleaned up and fixed ASAP. Reason why is if Eileen has any medical appointments in Boise I would rather stay in my own RV with my own supplies than hotel and eating out in restaurants. It will be cheaper and safer this way for us. Still got my buddy in Parma that will allow me to stay with Water and Electricity for the RV. I'm kind of happy Mom passed on seeing this Corona Virus problem this would be a ultimate down fall for her not to mention being in the dialysis room would be very dangerous to her and us if she would of brought home the virus. Other than that I'm going to back to work on Monday morning stuff a transmission back in a Chevy Truck.
  20. Man now that I'm retired medical driver I'm not going to be able to catch you now @dripley. I've got 410k miles but no where near 600k miles. Wow! Congrads to you my friend.
  21. Locally there is no problems, there is toilet paper on the shelf. Now yesterday I headed to Clarkson, WA and Lewiston, ID. OMG! This is totally insane. Costco is out of toilet paper, WalMart is out of toilet paper, and even Albertsons is out of toilet paper. I've still got plenty here for now. See people wearing surgical masks, etc. The paranoia is nuts. Now back home its just a normal day and no one is even talking about it. Just normal people living there lives out here in the back country of Idaho. That is one thing I've done is more or less turned off the TV. I go tired of the BS rolling out of the media mouth of how bad this is. Truth its pretty light weight virus being the death rate is so low. We've got states call for emergency relief or emergency aid with only a few cases of Corona Virus. What you will notice is no children are get getting sick or dying. Middle age people have really good chance of beating the virus. The only people having issues is elderly and people that have immunity issues. (AID's / HIV, etc.).
  22. Mine only bucks bad about 30 MPH in 4th gear. Every time I went through Council, ID the speed limit is 30 MPH and the engine load is super low but RPM wise I'm right there at 1,200 to 1,300 RPM's and it bucks pretty good. Anything that brings RPM down that low tend to make it happen. I could downshift one but running 3rd gear at 30 MPH is like 2,200 to 2,300 RPMs for me.
  23. He's only running about 17* at 2k. Rather retarded.
  24. Give you an idea. First off my transmission was rebuilt back at 235k miles roughly. The countershaft 5th gear was replaced (larger of the two). Now at 350k miles last summer (2019) I was cruising the I84 heading west towards Ontario, OR and managed to tear the teeth off the weaker small 5th gear and eat both gear faces. NOTE: I've never had a 5th gear nut issues EVER! 410k miles and rolling... So make sure to upgrade all your weakest links. Also design in a way to release torque so the driveline doesn't get abused too bad. This is why I've dropped 265's stock tires to 245's stock tire this changes the final ratio to the ground to 3.69 which is my design release being the tires can't hold the full 47 PSI of boost so the tires will spin free. Then the lower gearing with smaller tires makes it super easy to get up to road speed quickly. Here is my long list of all my mods... 4 pages and growing... https://mopar1973man.com/garage/vehicle/101-2002-dodge-ram-2500/?show=mods
  25. @DKfummins I'll call him out maybe he'll see the email and respond.
