  1. I've got a piece of 4" exhaust pipe stuck in the neck of the BHAF. Then just soft clamped to the neck no different.
  2. We do similar down at the service station. When we are doing oil changes we check the air filter for a mouse party. If so Dan has a roll of steel mesh screen for that purpose.
  3. I can sneak home now with the 24V and still get in the door without MoparMom knowing. Just can do it with the 1996 Dodge because the main house garage door makes too much noise.
  4. I just changed one on a little foreign car, talk about PITA to do.
  5. I'm also 1/2 inch rubber hose from the fuel tank to the VP44. Then another 5 foot of 1/8" air brake line from the tap point into the cab on the old mechanical gauge and it used to buzz if the needle valve wasn't set right. So even with the change over I'm still 5 foot of tubing to the sender but have the snubber and needle valve at the tap point. Lot of people are wrapped up in the myth of using grease gun hoses will either suppress water hammer or suppress vibrations. Hate to say it it does nothing for either senders still fail...
  6. Suggestion. Spray the upper lid with WD40. Then when you check the filter check the lid for dirt. Stock box is known to deform and leak dust past. The tell-tale signs will show up in the WD-40 sprayed on the lid.
  7. That's really bold... I still wonder how long it will hold accuracy? Have you tested for accuracy?
  8. If prime is lost from using the engine to pump the fluid... Simple finish your flushing then hook up all the lines and again and refill the power steering pump. Now have front axle jacked up and slowly go from lock to lock. This will pump the fluid back through the steering system prime the pump again.
  9. I know the whole over filling is to makes sure the upper bearings are staying lubed. Is it possible the overfill is foaming up the fluid excessively?
  10. Just pull one return line. Cap the fitting on the pump. The two lines with hoses clamps are returns. Anything with thread fittings is pressure. Power Steering Fluid only. NO ATF! ATF is used in 3rd Gens but Power Steering fluid in 1989 to 2002...
  11. Only problem it's not on the articles.mopar1973man.com side of the site. It'll get lost in the massive database in time and never be found again.
  12. I typically just pull a return line route to a waste bucket and pump fresh fluid through till the return line is clean and clear. Then hook up and refill. Some like doing lock to lock steering wheel to push all the fluid from the gear box. If you going to do that jack it up for the front axles, leave the engine off and steer from lock to lock and it will pull the fluid through on its own.
  13. It was different when Deborah was down in Nampa, ID I could call up and get seals next day in the mail for cheap price. Now that she sold it I'm not sure what its going to cost for seals.
  14. Just remember that one failed cylinder can pass a blow by test.
  15. TMI !!! I'm not going to let you either !!! Still funny as all hell. Seriously my steering gearbox is still absolutely perfect no sloppy steering and no leaks. No problems with my 5th gear nut too. Even 200k miles on the VP44 and still going. 1/4 million milestone has been reached!
  16. You should write an article about that...
  17. Or pushing large amounts oil out the vent.
  18. 750 Watts = 120 AC Volts x 6.25 AC Amps Might of been something else pop on in the house.
  19. You need a minimum of the ECM and PCM to function. Overhead is not requirement. Remember most of the stuff starts from the PCM the ECM is a add-on to the PCM. So kind of required. Everything on J/C 7 can be ditched.
  20. Welcome to the family! Grab a favorite beverage and sit down and get comfy there is plenty of reading you can do. Also do ask plenty of questions! We love to answer questions here!
  21. Pager goes off at 3am in the morning for a barn fire near Whitebird, ID. I just barely got home at 1pm in the afternoon. The landowner lost his barn and about 300 ton of hay. Fire Chief figures its wet hay that started the fire. I got to admit hay fire are nasty and hard to put out. Fire Chief lost count on water after about 60,000 gallons and it was becoming day light at that point so 200,000 to 300,000 would be a valid guess of how much water we pumped on this fire.
  22. The most I can say is a break down of the power fluid (lubricity of the fluid) from the heat. Some say that synthetics tolerate heat better that petroleum based but again I'm running 250k miles with petroleum based fluid change every 30k miles. The other thought is possibly over sized tires placing more stress on the steering box. Like my truck came with 265's and I went undersized 235's to deal with a few different issues.
  23. Overflow valve can't be pulled open on a vacuum but it can't bleed through the hole.
  24. I bought NAPA blower motor for like $50 bucks. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Blower-Motor-AC-Heater/_/R-BK_6551871_0456282604 Just remember that the blower motor does NOT come with a plug you'll have to cut you existing plug from the old blower.
