  1. I would opt for a gauge check if you can see if the gauge is accurate. Air being sucked into the fuel stream might cause this issue as well.
  2. I really hate to scale my trailer right now. I rather heavy. Not to mention I didn't shut down the engine much through the day and kept the A/C running between stops. But during unloading I did shut down the truck. I'm pretty sure I'm close to the weight of my RV weight.
  3. After today's firewood haul I made a solid 12 MPG. At least I'm getting work done and hauling materials.
  4. Back at it today. I've hauled six cords of firewood. Four cords went to a close family friend just down the road. Then seeing how slim the log yard was getting I figure I'd better jump into the pile too so I hauled another two cords for myself.
  5. A Mafia Godfather finds out that his bookkeeper, Guido, has cheated him out of $10,000,000.00 His bookkeeper is deaf. That was the reason he got the job in the first place. It was assumed that Guido would hear nothing so he would not have to testify in court. When the Godfather goes to confront Guido about his missing $10 million, he takes along his lawyer who knows sign language. The Godfather tells the lawyer, "Ask him where the money is!" The lawyer, using sign language, asks Guido, "Where's the money?" Guido signs back, "I don't know what you are talking about." The lawyer tells the Godfather, "He says he doesn't know what you are talking about" The Godfather pulls out a pistol, puts it to Guido's head and says, "Ask him again or I'll kill him!" The lawyer signs to Guido, "He'll kill you if you don't tell him." Guido trembles and signs back, "OK! You win! The money is in a brown briefcase, buried behind the shed at my cousin Bruno's house." The Godfather asks the lawyer, "What did he say?" The lawyer replies, "He says you don't have the guts to pull the trigger."
  6. So people have found that the return line can draw air in but the air allows the prime on the VP44 to be lost. Now the weird part is the return line is not submerged in fuel but hanging at the top of the tank. So the return line should be dry technically. But if the VP44 is able to use the air leak for back draining the fuel to the tank then prime is lost. The overflow valve does have a unsealed hole.
  7. I've been enjoying the 20-24 MPG back and forth to work. Just depends on if that day I decide to hype-mile and drag my butt to work or do I just set the cruise for 65 MPH and haul tail to work. Still with $2.839 price for diesel and $3.129 for gas... Yeah I'm enjoying it.
  8. Temperature is possible as fuel cools the pressure for electric pump typically goes down. Like start of the morning 48-55*F I show about 1 PSI lower typically. Now on my trip home from work after sitting in 105*-110*F temps the fuel pressure is about 1 PSI higher. As for altitude there is no effect on my ISSPro EV2 that I've seen.
  9. I HIGHLY suggest against using any noise filters... What you may do is protect the PCM from the noise but end up killing the VP44, ECM, ABS and other computers with bad power. No, There is no way to properly filter the alternator other than replacement because the diodes are fried.
  10. LOL. My last lawn tractor was the same way. I just chucked the entire hood assembly and covered the engine once cool with a tarp.
  11. Just out of safety I would still test the alternator for AC noise levels. The fact it capable of lock/unlock issue bothers me and rather error to the side of safety knowing the alternator is working properly. Measure the AC voltage at the BATT post of the alternator and NEG battery post. A good alternator is 0.01 to 0.02. Marginal is 0.05. Failed is 0.1 and higher.
  12. Remember all shut off valves and snubber should be installed right at the tap point of the fuel system. Now coupled with the length of run to the sender or gauge will give even more dampening ability to the system. Do not use a grease gun hose! Keep line size down to small line sizes like 1/8" tubing will help but make the run longer than 5 feet if possible. I found one member than used 1/4" air brake and it did not dampen the water hammer it actually past it along to the gauge.
  13. Left and right pressure are set internally in the power valve sleeve (7 & 8) and the input shaft.
  14. If the engine isn't running yes it will run over because the gear box will naturally pump the fluid out while steering. That is one of the methods to changing power steering fluid by going locak to lock with the return line unhooked and the engine off.
  15. Basically the rubber seals are shot. You just need to replace them. When you do put a small amount of silicone on the rubber seals. I would highly suggest to stay with exactly what you got so you don't risk having to drill new holes or have sealing issues.
  16. I'm curious is the fluid overflowing when the engine is running or while its parked for that long period?
  17. Hover on the dotted underlined acronyms and see the meanings... PDC > Power Distribution Center As for driver side follow the red wire to the PDC and you'll see it runs right to the alternator fuse. This provides a nice stud for hooking up accessories. Constant 12V power. Switch power is from inside the cab.
  18. If I'm not mistaken that is a 80 MPH piece of interstate there in Idaho.
  19. No leaks, acid or corrosion problems on any vehicle or my home system. Give you an idea these are 20 year old battery cables on the home system that have never been cleaned nor has they ever seen corrosion. So corrosion and acid issues is a sign of charging issues or improper maintenance of the batteries. If your venting acid shows sign of excessive high charge rates possibly from a bad battery temp sensor or discharging too deeply? As your looking at the box and see the acid splash that is from the previous battery set that had bad cells and I left the caps off during a equalize charge. With the bad cells they would get hot and boil more so throwing acid out. Lead acid batteries can and will perform if maintained and charged properly. Being that my battery bank powering the house is about $4,800 to replace I'm going to insure it crosses the 10 year mark and possibly the 15 year mark before replacement. As for vehicle batteries they are built basically the same so using the same knowledge from the house system on the truck got me to 10 years on vehicle batteries. Heck even my little ATV battery is nearing 8 years now.
  20. Correct... The injector o-ring does exactly that where the crossover o-ring prevents fuel leaks on the manifold.
  21. Maybe you might have to post that link, then allow the staff to start working to add another vendor to the list.
  22. I've also heard the same thing about leaks on the return side but never been able to prove it. Crossover o-rings, return tee seals, banjo sealing washers, etc.
  23. Thanks ABennin I knew that it was used before... Thanks for posting up your set up...
  24. I doubt you'll make 10 to 15 years like I do... OEM lasted 10 years in the diesel. I replaced with WalMart batteries. The batteries that power my house are 6 volt lead/acid batteries and those last upwards of 15 years if taken care of. Which with a lead/acid you can top off the electrolyte and also perform a equalize charge to stir the acid and distilled water as well as reclaim some of the sulphated plate material. These are some things can't be done with any sealed batteries.
