  1. Every one of those codes is a electronics failure code of the VP44 PSG unit which is most likely caused by bad alternator diode. I highly suggest to have the alternator test for AC noise levels (normal is 0.01-0.02 or 10-20 mV AC). Because if you change the VP44 without checking it could and will destroy the new pump in a quick hurry.
  2. I know the headlight circuit has no tie to the turn signals. Headlight ground is in the driver side kick panel and the turn signal ground is on the driver side fender near the headlight.
  3. I'm demob'ed for the time being and back home safe and sound. Might go again but unknown. Just for fun here is my full picture pile... http://mopar1973man.com/Tepee%20Fire.zip
  4. The specks are bits of ash on the camera lens when the flash fired it showed up. This was still early in the day and you'd swear it was night fall. The winds picked up and was pushing smoke down on us so hard there was no light. There was a wind gust that pinned me to the back of my truck. Dalton Ray Silva got sand blasted being down on the river bank he was manning the trash pump filling the water tender. We were staged at Carlson's Sheep Ranch. I have to say yesterday was a good day. Carlson Ranch thank Salmon River Rural for being there and protecting their home. We've been staged along there property area for some time and doing what we could to protect barns and outbuildings. Servicing other truck by keeping them filled with water. The end of the day USFS wanted to do a back burn behind the Carlson Ranch to clean it up. Both Engine 3 and Engine 4 were staged at homes near the fire line and Water Tender 3 was brought in to support the engines with water during the back burn. Our SRRFD was thanked highly for quick thinking, planning, and executing the plan fast and being setup well before the fire became a issue. I would like to return the Thanks back to USFS Engine 622 for working with us.
  5. I'll post a loonger story later. But I got to admit being in the middle of a wind storm with fire coming is rather spooky. I'll post more pictures later. I'm tired. We ended our day with a serious down pour and thunder storm. I'm pretty sure we'll get demob'ed after tomorrow. I was thanked by the Carlson Family for being there and protecting their homes. Then our crew was thanked from Eng 622 for supporting them with 2 engines and water tender during a back burn and quick thinking and good planing. Oh... It's still raining off and on yet... Here is one of my crewmen (Dalton) supporting my water tender during a fire storm... That orange color is the thick choking smoke.
  6. Hope not it would create serious issues with mudslides. Bad enough with rock slides and log fall out right now...
  7. Another long day of heavy smoke and fire. We all got a bit worried for a Fire Chief today he now stuck up on the fire with 7 other engine crews till morning. There is a segment of road with rock slides and then the French creek is closed from fire. So there is homes in there he's protecting. I know he's OK and got food and place to stay. So we bailed out late last night, none of wanted to leave till we were sure he's got a plan. For AH64ID... Then my 2 Cummins...
  8. Here is from my adventure yesterday is is blew up and ran into Partridge Creek and continued East and jump the Big Salmon River at about the Manning Bridge. Don't bother with Inciweb its WAY WAY behind and not reporting true size or correct map yet. We were stage at Partridge Creek and The Big Salmon just for location. Still driving my Cummins Water Tender (1983 KW with Cummins Big Cam 400)
  9. Just you wait.... When you come up here and drive from Boise, ID to Lewiston, ID and see what is actually here you be kind of shocked.
  10. Pray for snow because that is the only thing that will stop this fire...
  11. I'm alive yet. The fire has now cross the Big Salmon River and still heading north burned about 5-10 acres north of the river. They might get it stopped there but its still spreading east and west yet. Looking at Inciweb they are way behind on updating the fire map and size it much much bigger that they are reporting.
  12. To early in the day when you were up. Later in the afternoon it cleared up really good.
  13. I typically pull about 25-27 inHg with my pump which is fine. I would just run the vacuum pump longer to draw the moisture out. Then shut it all down and leave the gauges on and check for leaks. It should hold vacuum over 12 hours without change. As for compressor oil I typically call the NAPA store and have them look it up for the vehicle. But I know my 2002 takes PAG 100 oil and it a holds of 7.1 ounces of oil to the compressor. So just pull the drain plug and drain out and reload. Just like a oil change.
  14. I'll have to dig through some books to find it.
  15. Straight down. I'm right up behind the house on a old logging road. So if I bailed off on foot and went straight down I would land most likely in the neighbors yard but really close to home. That is why I ran that direction to get a feel for time and movement. I've also went to Riggins, ID tonight for a meeting. Basically in a nutshell it made it to the Salmon River just east of Riggins, ID. USFS is already Evacuating people out of the Salmon River area and I'm just waiting for the tones or phone call to head out again. It was made fairly clear the only way this fire is going out is when winter snow gets here. This was shot at Riggins, ID as I left the meeting.
  16. Smoke cleared and I made a ride up the mountain to a better look out spot. Not good it north of my house now and spreading west and east now. I've been informed that Big Salmon River Road from Riggins to French Creek is in now a Stage 2 Evac.
  17. You would trip a error... http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/59-obdii-error-codes-cummins/155-p0168-decreased-engine-performance-due-to-high-injection-pump-fuel-temperature So far I've only seen one case reported in a very long time.
  18. As for me I'm a bit concerned and going to do some ATV riding today to get more information even if I got to ride all the way to Seven Devils lookout.
  19. I'm just waiting for the page tones to go off. Then its off to the races...
  20. Things just got worse. Stage 1 Evacuation notice has been give from Elk Lake Road to Riggins and up the Big Salmon to French Creek. The fire today made a good move to the north and past me now. I've had a visit from Adams County Sheriff informing me of the fire evacuation orders. I'm not sure how big the fire is today being that Inciweb is not updating the map today. https://www.google.com/maps/@45.2489236,-116.1499921,28283m/data=!3m1!1e3
  21. Just done a delete locally and it turned out awesome. Big improvement in power. I've got to talk to the owner and see what the MPG's are like now.
  22. Here is the timing piston out the VP44. That piston is harden steel I know it takes a lot to scar it up like that. Which would create the p0216 code.
  23. I'm at roughly 400 hp / 900 tq and tow and haul heavy no issues with a single disc. There is no real reason I can see for daily drive to need a dual unless he's got huge tires and high horse power like 500 or more...
