You still run the 7317? how is the oil looking. I use wix now but am looking for a better filter.

What is the difference in these.

The H.O. has 17:1 compression the standard has 16:1. Iirc the vp pumps are also different. Other than that you are good to go.

Make sure the new key is in the new pump correctly,that key only goes in one way. It will run bad if you put the key in wrong.

When you took the pump out was the key at 12:oo? If yes ,does it still look like it is the same? The teeth of the pump gear should still be together with the other gears. If it was my truck i would do the best i could with getting the pump gear like it was before.I would not remove the big cover if i didnt have to. If you put the pump back in and it runs fine then it would be a waste of time. If you put the pump in and it runs bad and you need to remove the big cover you dont have to remove the pump again to fix the gear. Either way you look at it the pump can stay on.My money is on the gear being locked into place. putting the pump on is my vote

I have one, years of use with 3000+ rpm no trouble. Solved my squeak problem at shut down.

Most like 10/20 on the valves. I have had good results with 8/18. It helped the spool just a taste.

I had 170k on or so when i did my cam. Just to be safe i replaced the tappets.

Use an oilfilter wrench on the big black part,as you face the engine turn left. Look inside the hole with a shop mirror,you will see the line.

neodymium work perfectly. From what i am told they are the strongest. If they would somehow fall off the oil filter they would never hit the ground.

dont loose the little keyway. It locks the nut. mine has one on the dually maybe you dont. I would remove both tires and look at one side as a reference for the spring location or take a picture. If the springs go flyin it is hard to remember if you dont do it too often.

When i build boost at the line then take off my truck starts moving but it feels like the key gets turned off for a fraction of a second. This goes on 3 or 4 times. Without the smarty it is 7 or 8 times. Thats about the best way i can describe it for you.

I would like to know more info about dyno's. I ran my old truck on one,it was fun. So can you tell us what the difference between corrected and uncorrected is as far as hp and lbs. Why do some dyno's differ in hp and lbs? I would like to learn more about this,i am sure others would too.

I dont know what it is going to be like. The bigest complant is the t.m. problem so it would be my guess the new smarty could fix that.The other problem is some say it kills top end hp. Hey Michael, that could happen or close to it.

I can still feel the torque man. cut my fuel when i spank it out of the hole. The smarty only helps maybe 70 %. From what i read smarty is working on a new program for the 2nd gens.

edge/drag+smarty on 6 , speed limiter 150, torque 6, injection 3 ,duration 3.

my lines are a pain as well. I clean them with the green scotch pad too.

I have replaced the coolant a few times. Once becaues i had engine oil in the coolant system i blew a hg. Dawn dish soap works good. Then the water pump went bad. Yet again when the rubber o ring in the drain petcock was broke and leaking. You have to pull the thing out to get the new one on. The last time was when i relpaced the 20k over head gasket with a factory one.

Can you get back to that shop and get your old spring?

I sent them an e-mail asking some questions,they never responded. The guy that started this thread is smart when it comes to filters. I trust him. I like the one time cost thing about it,i just dont know if i would trust it on my cummins. I am sure they work good for some applications.
