  1. What it boils down to is you almost CAN't screw it up! The worst that you should need to do is recalibrate the APPS and or reset your clock. Just as an FYI, both kidshave a 2006 VW and I put a new radios in it for them. I wound up replacing both with the stock ones and after a year they both retained their preset memory!
  2. If you disconnect both at the same time, yes, you loose the memory for the APPS and your radio, clock, etc. If you disconnect one at a time then no you retain all memory. Just remember, if you do one at a time the positive cable will always have power on it so try not to short it to ground.
  3. Well, look at it this way, if you did not pick up the starter you would have needed it.
  4. If you unplug the TPS you say you get +5V on two of the three wires at the connector?
  5. That to me sounds a lot like a PCM problem. There is no reason to have any voltage on the sensor wire since that is what the PCM looks at to figure out what the load is on the engine.
  6. I have been running an Autozone water pump for the last three years with no issues. I also had to replace the alternator at the same time due to the rusty water sprayed into it from the water pump.
  7. I question why you have +5 V on the sensor wire with the TPS unplugged. Dave Goerends told me that these PCMs look at the TPS (for engine load) and the speed sensor (on transmission) to determine what gear to be in. With +5 V on the TPS signal wire tells me the wire is shorted somewhere and you need to find it.
  8. Soft as that stuff is I would think you are going to go through quite a bit to keep warm!
  9. 1/2 of the second repair cost. I feel it should have been more, but in order to file papers in court I would need to drive 2,000 miles, wait for court, then see if a judge agrees with me or not so it was an agreeable settlement for both of us.
  10. Just remember, your turbo requires fuel to make boost and if it is not smoking when you should have boost then the fuel is not being delivered.
  11. That is my concern too.
  12. OK, Boss, what are your thoughts on this?
  13. Um, before you condemn the turbo, did your truck smoke at all when you had no boost?
  14. 500 pound capacity is plenty. The 100 pound bottles are about 175 pounds full. The bottles are generally between 70 and 80 pounds empty and with 100 pounds (23.5 gallons) of propane is 170 to 180 pounds.
  15. The winch holds the tire the same way the drag on a fishing reel works. It is just a friction disk to keep it from unwinding until you overcome the friction when you unwind it.
  16. I just checked and the credit has been posted. Stick a fork in it and call it done.
  17. Yep. All they do is build parts.........
  18. I even has one spare just flat out disappeared! That was the same time a hitch cover that was held in with a hitch pin with a hair pin holding it fled the scene too........
  19. Oh yea, the P-7100 starter is the BEST IN THE WORLD!! LOL LOL
  20. I was told Monday that my card will be refunded some money, but so far it has not been posted to my account. Hopefully soon.
  21. I still have a little bit of moose left in the freezer. You are right, that meat is real good when aged. One year it was in the 60s for temperatures and I didn't have a cooler then so we packaged it up and put it in the freezer. If you didn't pressure cook it you could not eat it. I have heard that if you ate nothing but moose meat you would starve to death because of the lack of fat in it. I don't know if that is true or not, but I like a baked potatoe with butter and pepper too much to see!
  22. Two years on gasoline I will agree with. There are some companies around here that claim 30 DAYS is all you can store it for. The last five+ years I have not even drained the three carbs or ran them out of gas or even fogged the cylinders in my boat. Just for the record it is a 1977 Johnson 70 HP. All I do is pull the plugs and clean them every spring and they are the 'anti-foul' type so it is easy. This spring I saw 32.6 mph on my GPS. It is rare to get over 32 mph with it.
  23. The fastest my 16' boat has ever gone is on 87 octane mixed gas from the season before, so I PERSONALLY don't buy into the whole "gasoline won't last" theory.
