  1. Yep manuals came with d80 and autos came with d70 rears.
  2. Well it fired up this morning, a bit slow but still ticking, it seems to do the bsod when left alone for a while, have to unplug it to get it to restart when it locks on the bsod, we did get our files off loaded and all pics on thumb drives disc so if it crashes no worries. I may take it in to a repair shop Tuesday and see if there is any hope for it. Can you buy a PC with Linux system or are they all windows based from box stores like best buy or similar? Next pc will get purchased with an external backup drive and will start doing regular backups from here on out, our last pc crashed hard and was told there was no way to get 5 years of our lifes pics out of it.
  3. So far I have burned most files to cd and wife only brought home two 16G flash drives which is barely enough for all our pics and videos so will head back to town and get 64 gig and do total backup. So far it is holding up hopefully it will hold up until tomorrow morning when I can do a total backup and then go PC shopping.
  4. I use nothing with an external server as of now everything on my pc only. I have been printing off as many documents as possible since my wife will be a while from town.
  5. OK wife is in town and will pick up some thumb drives and will try. I now see that it wiped all of my contact info from my e-mail acct as well too, was going to send some e-mails and no more contact list. empty?????? Not sure how this happened. It started getting like this a couple days ago and I did the shutdown for auto windows updates yesterday and it has totally wigged out since then.
  6. Help me out guys quick, I think my PC is dying. It gave blue screen of death this a.m. and took me several attempts of restarting it to get it to come to life again. How do I go about backing up all of my personal info docs and pics before it crashes again. My wife and I are tech illiterate and have never backed anything up which we have talked about doing for years but keep putting it off dumb dumb dumb I know :banghead: . we have several years of pics on the pc that have never been transferred to anything as well as documents and files and also the info in my e-mail. we had a computer crash a hard drive several years ago and we lost everything including years of photos do to the dumb thing we have now of never having backed up. What do I need to do. it is becoming unresponsive even now as I type and try to get through the site, every screen is slow and shows things as not responding. HELP QUICK!!!!!! I need more sleep will check back in a couple of hours, wife just woke me up and said we had the blue screen.
  7. They make fairly cheap tools for that. Is there no way of tensioning the chain that can be loosened enough to unhook it?
  8. Get a smarty, they have an low fueling setting that folks use to pass throttle snap smog checks.
  9. They're makin another left turn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://youtu.be/tVdFJIEk5wY
  10. :woot:Happy b-day who get the honor of........?
  11. I would look a bit closer at that injector hole then with a camera, you may have a cracked head. What did the copper sealing washer look like? Parts jobbers carry a very good snake camera under 150 bucks, we have several at work including some that are several thousand dollars and this is the go to camera for all, it has the smallest tip and the clearest view on the display. http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-ARZ604-Alkaline-Battery-Digital-Inspection/dp/B004P643LM
  12. Audi and VW are the same platforms just a bit higher class interior and exterior options on the Audi. Kinda like comparing a suburban to an escalade.
  13. This sums up what I believe in for saving our country going forward. Nothing more needs to be said! http://www.randpaul2016.com/
  14. Jurasic park is coming closer to reality daily. Remember when they found a completely preserved wooly mammoth a couple years ago and instantly started talking about cloning its DNA that was perfectly in tact.
  15. If you stick with an 03 or older TDI you will be fine. The gassers may have issues but the TDI are pretty straight forward. as to the comment of them being maintenance hogs, I do not know where this comes from, I have the dealer do the timing belt as I do not like working in the small tight quarters and do not have the tooling to time it afterwards anyhow. I look at it this way, at 45 mpg I have saved more than enough in operating expense over a gasser to have someone else do the bigger jobs like this every 4 years or so and am still way ahead of a 30 mpg gasser. I did do the Intake cleaning myself but that wasn't too bad. War eagle is about due for this unless he has bypassed or disabled his EGR then he would be ok. Mine is 100% oem stock.
  16. I guess they need to rewrite the middle school text books then as this is a common anatomy term, if this is blocked as a bad word then we are dead as a society. How can they teach this term to 10 years olds and hand out condoms to kids in middle schools and then ban the word on public forums where I have yet to see anyone under 16 years old. Doesn't make any freaking sense to me.................
  17. Must be whats referred to as the *** Com on the VW / Audi forums? Never had a laptop until a couple years ago so I never looked into it, Wife kinda wants a new VW in a year or two if it winds up being so I may look into this, she still hates the idea of parting with the 03 though. She got 310K out of a 95 neon so I guess this one will have to run for 500K.The body of the neon was a 2 door coupe and was a rattle trap past 200K this 03 is still solid as a rock at 250K. WTH why is it blocking out the leters v....a....g?
  18. The only issue we had with the engine was at around 150K was a couple of things, one was normal maintenance of having to clean the carbon from the intake manifold and second I take it to the dealer for timing belt replacements and at about 50 k after the last on we had an extremely hard start and heavy white smoke issues all of a sudden and couldn't figure it out, took it to the dealer and told them a few things to check to satisfy my own curiosity and had I not told them to check the timing they would not have and that was what the issue was, for some reason the timing slipped to a retarded point, I had them set the timing to the advanced end of spec and it has been flawless ever since.
  19. This is a result of making corporations equal to or having more rights than we the people through the corrupt laws the government passes to cater to the huge corporations lobbiests. The term is "Croney Capitalism". Until we get banking, business and military intersts lobbying out of politics and return the power back to the people we will continue to die as a country as the other thread is asking for. None of It will not happen until we end the federal reserve.
  20. Nope.................The reasons for a thicker gasket are, a milled block deck or head surface to get it back close to stock clearances, or if one is running high levels of boost pressure and need to increase the dimension to reduce cylinder pressures a bit, the other reason is if running a different style of piston or cams with higher lift rates and the clearance is needed between valves and piston crowns. The piston rings control compression. The difference in power would be so slight it would not be noticeable if at all.
  21. The machinist should have those specs if he does it for a living, he should be able to measure in certain spots to see how much has been removed from stock. The other way is after the rotating assembly has been assembled and measure how far from the top of the deck the piston is at TDC there are specs for this as well as the head dimensions. Like I said the machinist better have these numbers if he is doing it for a living if not he has no business building engines. Most machinists will actually have things all measured out and tell you during the job what you will need for bearings and gaskets or when he gets done machining your engine, at least all machine work I have ever had done which is a lot they have all let me know what is needed during the work.
  22. Even if the head or block were decked one can still go back with stock thickness gasket and compensate with different thickness injector sealing washers to keep the spray pattern the same in the combustion area of the piston. This does depend on just how much was milled off the surfaces though, if a lot was taken then one would need an oversized thickness gasket.
  23. I guess since I live within 25 miles of the Capitol of the state that may play a role too. I see lots of state flags flying around the area here. I have also never seen a flag taken down anywhere due to bad weather, if that was the case we would never be able put them up either.
  24. Not only gear lube but I have seen older equipment that still ran straight 30 weight oils yet where when the oil plug was pulled out on a cold engine in sub zero conditions the oil was like molasses and would'nt even come out of a 3/4 to 1 inch drain hole.
  25. A blown injector tip could allow compression to enter the return line and pressurize the tank. I think you need to pull injectors soon if you have not already beat the top of your piston to a pulp and scored a cylinder already. I never saw a reply, does it clear up when it warms up or does it smoke all the time and does it sound like it has a miss or not. You need to crack each injector line while it is idling to see which cylinder is week or dead. If it is smoking white all the time even warmed up I would park it ASAP.
