  1. You can get moog greasable lowers. The grease zerk goes into the top shoulder of the ball joint at a 45º angle. I have been using moog on customer pickups for about 4 years now with no problems
  2. Most diesel will never move the temp gauge because they are very good at cooling. This is why they say not to idle them. Low cylinder temps=poor combustion. I havent ran a single ounce of additive this winter and I havnt gelled once. I fill up at the newest and most turned over station in town with winterized diesel.
  3. I think you are over thinking this. When its warm, the intake heaters arent used, thus the wts light goes off right away
  4. The best way to warm anything up is to drive it. Idleing does nothing but wear stuff out quicker and burn fuel. I start mine, wait until the heaters cycle twice and then idle up to 1200 with the cruise control. I then unplug the pickup, clean windows and do what needs done then leave. Most I will idle in high idle is 5 minutes. Regular idle is as little as possible. Cummins/dodge want less than 10% idle time. This is at 0-10% load which is anything under 1,000 rpms and vehicle in park. The cruise control high idle is 10-20%.
  5. I have one customer running one. It was a great setup the only thing is their bracket was designed for a long box pickup and to go on the inside of the rail. I had to do some modding to get it to fit on the outside of the frame
  6. I would get a new one coming. Most likely fuel is starting to make its way into the motor. I had to tap one before to get it going
  7. Ya I heard bluffs had the nation low. We hit -29 here 60 miles away
  8. I timed mine today and it takes between 2-3 seconds to kick in
  9. -14 right now. Feels like -30 with a 5 mph wind. Suppose to hit -27 with a -50 wind chill. Im just glad there isnt any wind with this and I am not working midnights
  10. http://www.genosgarage.com/EDGE-98004-UNIVERSAL-GAUGE-MOUNT/productinfo/EDGE%2D98004/ Just installed one on a customers pickup last week
  11. Im very anti edge but I love the cts. I got one sitting on the shelf waiting for my pillar pod to show up
  12. We are at around 8" at least on the ground. Ive seen drifts 6' tall. Suppose to be windy and cold (-21) all this week
  13. Yes there is a floor shift and an electronic shift. The knob will be belowe and to the left of the radio
  14. Here is a better chart http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3rd-gen-tech-articles/150422-3rd-gen-popular-fuel-filter-data.html#/enter
  15. You wouldnt believe how many people think the color of the oil determins the quality. Even when I try to explain it they still dont believe me.
  16. Ya it had the recall done on it in 2003 for the head gaskets
  17. My first pickup was a 1992 toyota pickup with the 3.0. I bought it with 108,000 on her. At about 150,000 I started running rotella 15/40 and had great oil pressure. I sold it with 198,000 in 2008. Its still running around today and I know its been rode hard and put away wet
  18. If you have vacuum in the tank your pump cant supply fuel to injection pump. For whatever reason having the pump wired to a constant power (wiper fuse) seems to help. Why it builds vacuum, thats a good question. I just left my cap loose and I sold my pickup before I got to look into it farther. I would look at the roll over valves being plugged
  19. Yep sounds like vacuum in the tank. Mine would only do it after driving for awhile
  20. Ya its cold, -17 on tuesday. I know syn are good for cold weather start up but like I said Im not sold on syn. Now if you are running extended oil changes that would be a good use of syn. I wish I could find that article but some guy was at 20k on dyno and around 5k oil filters with good oil samples. And that was a 6.7 with emissions. Now on yours you could easily get 10-12 but it also depends on idle times and many other factors. Your oil sample company should be able to give you a trend on your oil life. As far as carbon, with a good filter, you shouldnt have any problems
  21. Im guessing torque convertor clutch is engaged. To test to see if its good, you put the pickup in gear, hold the brakes, and with the drb you activate the torque convertor clutch. If it works right, the truck will load up and die
  22. You are already throwing money away with 7500 mile oil changes on syn. I run dyno along with dozens of people I know. About 6 of them sample and change the dyno oil at 7500 with regular filter and all samples come back great with many more miles left on oil ( they are still building a history so they are unsure on how much more they can go). I personally run delvac dyno and fleetguard strat filter. I am gonna try that for about 6 changes then try different extended life filters and bypasses to see how well my sample comes back. Im not a big fan of syn oils its just not my cup of tea.
  23. Cracked injector is the most common or injector o-ring.
