Mike do any driving today? Are we lucky enough to see a video to compare the before to Any smoke on lvl 6 now?

Well this happend on the freeway today...
I love the E28. They just don't stop working. the only fix for what you have is bailing wire!

@Mopar1973Man OBDLink Questions
I'd be lying if I said I knew how they calculate that. As with any computer for calling mpg you should always hand calcd with GPS verified numbers. The computer will no be accurate unless you spend all your driving time at whatever point you did the calc for. I am sure the more you move away from that middle point the farther off it gets. I am pretty sure the scan gauge used a user defined offset for fuel flow also. Again not terribly accurate unless you are cruising. In theory we could build a very accurate mpg meter off of the quad. What we would need to know is injector flow and the duration. We know duration provided we keep it on lvl 3 and below

You need a Windows box to flash tunes, but I don't think you would need to flash tunes. All of the tuning can be done on the Android/ihone device. Larger than stock injectors, regardless of size would benefit from the tuning. Key thing to remember is it really doesn't take much extra fuel to flood the turbo down low and smoke. Even Mike with his little 50hp injectors is using a starting point of 91% of stock.

@Mopar1973Man OBDLink Questions
We can't begin to guess how the software people wrote the calculations so sometimes you need to fudge the needs until they result in something that makes sense. I had to do the exact same thing to make map read correctly via obd. The equation I used was clearly wrong in terms of what the obd standard said it was, but that's how I got map value to report a valid address.

Sounds good. Take a video when you get a chance haha. I wanna see the difference.

@Mopar1973Man OBDLink Questions
Due to the way these types of things calculate MPG and HP it is a best guess based upon inputted variables for fuel input vs load. This is not a terribly accurate way to do it, but it does help greatly when trying to get an idea of on the fly power requirements. I would say you need to look at all of this as an average rather than exact, even if the reading is off by %15 at a given point it is still useful for driving style adjustments. I don't know if I would say it is not useful as I see nothing suggested by anyone that does a better job for an on the fly rough guess of power being put down. By all means if you have a better way to calculate this I am sure we would be all ears. If you you disagree with the volume efficenty part of the article would you care to rewrite it to be accurate? I agree that his use of it is incorrect. From what reading in the past I have done on VE it will range on our trucks depending on a lot of things. honestly 73 is pretty close to what I has read in the past. We would welcome an edit of that section. We can say something is wrong all day long, but unless you put the effort into it to fix it it is wasted breath.

How was the tune I sent you last night? Smoke on WOT when on lvl3? lagginess? thoughts?

Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
Yep might as well gain all we can provided we remember that some times we buy things on the truck as a hobby. A lot of the things we do I life are not financially justified. Treat it as a hobby and let's see how much improvement we can see.

I was looking at that wondering if you had actual input the other day.

The time has come to produce the Mopar1973Man High Idle & MPG fooler switches again.
I'll have you send it to Mike and he can take a look. I am guessing the it for 6cyl and 3 cyl are mixed up. Easy to fix. I will pm you an address

Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
I've had my quad for 3 years now so getting better mpg is a thing I am interested. I bought the quad to have fun with it. My truck is a tool and a hobby, unless you can say you don't ever spend money on a hobby we are in the same boat. I can tell you all day long that money you spent on your hobby is not going to payself back. However if someone said I will give you $ 1 a day for free...wouldn't you take it? Sure there is already money vested but a buck is still a buck. Keep in mind Quad sent mike this box to try and give his thoughts on....he did not go out and buy this box to save money. Quad specifically wants to know if Mike's mpg increases.....end of story. It is hard to get your money back on mods, but keeping an old car or truck on the road is almost always much cheaper than buying new or another truck. Ah64ID, We get that you like solid numbers to prove what you take as fact, but I am sure you can understand the feeling when the sudo hp and torque gauge wrapped around like it never has before. That's exciting and good enough to report. It's not exact and that is fine. The point of this was not to show hp. I get the point of a dyno but there is no need for one unless you wanna pony up for us to waste your money proving something? The butt dyno and visual smoke tells us everything we need to know. What we are after is Compared to the edge how happy are you with drivability and smoke. We all get excited with new toys so let the hp thing go. If it will make you feel better we can remove it from the first post. So let's not ruin this by pointing fingers about the past.

It looks like the ECT for 3 cly is mixed up with 6 cyl. I am more than happy to fix it for you. You can run it how it is and not worry though. If you ship it to me ASAP so I get it before Friday I will have it fixed and back to you right away. After Friday I am gone for a few weeks so it would have to wait. Or you can ship it to Mike and he can fix it. Either way. All I need is the switch itself, not the harness. Let me know what you wanna do.

Difference in the V1 tuning is the map and how aggressive fueling comes on. Typically any large injector truck should run the 1000 series as there is no need for an aggressive fueling map. Big injectors flow enough fuel even on stock tuning to flood the turbo down low. Once boost is up the tuning maps are pretty similar. Now for the V2 tuning there is really not much difference the vast majority of the tuning is done VIA the canbus tuning. You could run a more aggressive wiretap map behind the canbus tuning but I double you would notice much difference truthfully. Having the custom tuning variables in place for fuel stretch, low limit fuel and low limit % will give you more than enough "aggressive" feeling. If you wanna play around with it some you are more than welcome to swing by once I get back into town in early october. Hey if I can bump my MPG by a good %10 I am going to. Don't care if it is a truck or a Prius haha. There is no drawback with this so I am going to use it.

so you are trying to start the truck in the mpg mode? first click clock wise? If so I don't see why the ecm would be letting hte WTS run so long. If you had it in the 3rd or 4th position it makes sense, but not the 1st or 2nd posiiton I am still confused about the last position now that I look at it. It looks like the ect is swapped. If you are willing ot ship it back to us we will test it and get it fixed if there is an issue.

And altitude. I will have to do some videos when I am up there to show the difference it makes.

Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
Yea we are working to that point now Tyler. I know Mike needs a starting point betwen 89-90 or 93 now. Trying to fine tune it from that point. I am more of the opinion that I want that full range of throttle input haha.

Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
Lets not forget those guys running windows 10 could do a virtual box of a windows xp machine and do the same thing, The flasher program works better on older machines. HOWEVER once the app bug is fixed there will no longer be a need for this. The tuning is all done on the fly on the phone.

So your numbers look right but your placement seems off. The switch position from left to right is off | MPG | 6 cyl | 3 cyl. Can you put those images in order of notchs when you turn the switch clockwise? Once you verify image location vs switch position we will get you fixed up. Thanks!

Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
The HP meter is nothing more than a very vague comparision. We are purely looking to compare the driveablity of the Edge vs Quad, that's it...... I would love to compare the Canbus message to tell us exactly how much fuel is being asked for but Edge does not display that info so we cannot make that comparison. Lets not forget, there is nothing new in the HP wars for a 2nd gen truck. Who cares how much power it makes.? They are both wiretap boxes. We can assume the Quad makes more power on a stock truck due to the prior dynos, but beyond that it is unimportant. Even a Dyno is going to read different from test to test. There is nothing exact about it and it doesn't need to be. Even if it was we would only have this useless number when you are talking about how a truck drives on the road. So lets throw out all the HP / TQ talk. So lets keep this purely limited to driveablity and not hp or torque. Things we can compare, is 1. smoke output comparison - Offidle smoke - WOT Smoke 2. How much throttle pressure do you need - Do you get full useable throttle range? - Are you able to use the full range of the throttle vs before? 3. How does the butt dyno respond? - This is valid as that DIRECTLY influence the "drivablity" of the truck. - Where does the edge feel mor epeppy compared to the quad? Are you able to tune the quad at the cost of smoke if you wanted to? 4. What kind of MPG can be had with the Quad vs the Edge - towing MPG -Unloaded MPG - IAT temp MPG vs the fueling message and timing -More aggressive timing advancement settings vs MPG I think the goal of 30 mpg is a good thing to try for, it might not get 50 like a VW, but for us guys who DD the truck because we need or want to a few MPG difference is a large % bump. I know I gained ~2 mpg with the tune. That 2 mpg is a signficant savings when you consider the trips I take my truck on. So lets keep this all related to how the truck drives rather than how much power it may or may not make. I am not going to throw it on a dyno because it would be a waste of money to figure out what we already know. This is a piggy pack system

I will talk with Mike about it.

Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
The first tune I sent mike was a little lazy down low. We are trying another one with more fuel low and less fuel high. This should round out things some. Keep egts in check and give some more bottom end. As for Mike's mpg tune, I am sure a few mpg can be gained by making it lazy down low. This will get the truck higher into the timing map without fuel. Spencer over at quad has gotten the app developer involved at this point to sort out the communication bug. Once that is taken care of all these tuning changes can be done by the user in the truck on the fly. You an do this now but there are no promises that the settings will stick lol.
-
Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
One of the tuning variables that can be set by the end user, on the fly, is max timing advance.
