  1. Do you have and H&S or a Smarty Jr? Have you tried running different tunes? The injector codes are calibration codes, so I would say then need to be programmed.
  2. I get about 30K miles out of my LRE 17" tires, 5 of them, at around 1200-1300. If I get 60K miles out of $2,000 worth of tires I am ahead and it doesn't take long to pay the wheels off. Aside from the speed rating they so far are superior in every way to LT tires. There are no SRW takeoffs.
  3. If the money is there get the Stage 1 BBi's....
  4. Ill have to go see if I can find some of the threads, I know there was at least one on CompD. I am still not 100% sold on it, but like I said it's starting to get proven. I think the BMS50's would be a good OEM replacement.
  5. I have the Yukon hit, and have been very happy with the kit. I have the Yukon Hardcore lockouts, which are much stronger than Warn or MM, but have been threw some growing pains with them. Yukon has been excellent in assistance thru the issues and just last night installed their new spring spacers and issues are a thing of the past. The Yukon kit is a little wider than the Spyntec, but that spacing should run cooler and have better bearing distribution. Then again all the kits run better bearing spacing than the OEM bearings. Either way it's hard to go wrong, the freed up steering is great as is 2WD Lo. I have noticed maybe a 5% towing and 10% empty increase in fuel economy. It's not night and day how I use my truck, but still is there.
  6. I beleive this is where the claim comes from. "The true milestone came in 1972 when AMSOIL became the first synthetic motor oil in the world to meet American Petroleum Institute service requirements."
  7. Yes they have a smaller diameter bowl (all 03-07 bowls have the same cc's), and a wider spray pattern. Timing is the bigger reason to spray on top of the bowl, unless there is a serious problem with the nozzle.
  8. The 03-04 is actually flatter, wider, than the 04.5-07 but it works, and is becoming more common. I am not sure I agree with it, yet, but time will tell. There are quite a few people talking about how the flame front works, etc and apparently it works with 03-04 in 04.5+ but not the other way around. I know quite a few people doing it, and so far I haven't seen a single issue from it. There was one possible issue on Cummins Forum but there where other issues so it's really hard to say.
  9. The BMS 50's are the 03-04 spray pattern and come in the QSB 440's. The BMS 100's are the 03-04 spray pattern and come in the QSB 480's. Lots of people running 03-04 spray pattern in the 04.5-07, just don't run 04.5-07 in a 03-04.
  10. I agree on the baffled tank, we had one at IDF&G that was 1500-2000 gallons and not baffled.. NOT fun when partially full.
  11. I use Amsoil Diesel Concentrate, it seems to keep everything in good working order.
  12. He want's to get new ones only, they will hurt the bank a little more but will be trouble free vs many of the reman issues. The BBi's are top notch, hands down. They are more money but your old ones can be sold as cores for around $600. BMS are #2, and OEM are #3. I would suggest getting OEM's with a minor upgrade, like 50hp. Better fuel economy and a nice increase in power as well.
  13. The mileage isn't bad, but 30 mph? Where EGT's the limiting factor? I would have expected a mpg more on the trip down, but lots of things can vary that.
  14. Stock 6.7? Not bad mileage, but what speeds?
  15. I would definitely get to work on that 6.0, or it may not be a reliable fire truck. I know quite often that used 6.0's have started to show the signs of 6.0 failure and are sold so the owner doesn't have to deal with it. The 450/550 aren't as prone to failure, but still not worth risking. One of the big issues is they blocks were not cleaned well and are full of casting sand. That clogs the EGR cooler and then bad things happen.
  16. Not sure up there. Call some of the big rig driveline shops, they usually build shafts.
  17. Where do you live? I had a 1 piece aluminum built for my truck for less than 1/2 of what you where quoted.
  18. So what do you have for specs and pics?
  19. For pulling and racing I would consider the marine gasket to drop the CR a little bit, but either way only Cummins stuff.
  20. Better than a 6.0.... My dad had an '84 6.2 with a Banks turbo and sold it in '92 with 250K miles, he saw it on the road for years after that.
  21. I did a little playing with the inverter today. Small crockpot on low Small crockpot on high Fridge on inverter power, I added a plug so I can use inverter or shore power for the fridge.
  22. Where they in pickups? Are you talking about the 350 converted? Can't be much better ;-)
  23. Anything with a 6.0 is cheap, it's the worst and most unreliable diesel ever put into a pickup and the resale value shows that.
  24. I bet your glad to be home!! 2006 7.3??? Repower ($$$$) or misprint? Even the F-550 has the 6.OH-NO in 2006. https://www.fleet.ford.com/TRUCKBBAS/non-html/2006/vs_pdf/fseriessd-ms_06.pdf If it is a 6.0 I would bring it to Deranged Diesel in Boise for a bullet-proofing kit and start saving for www.destroked.com, even the "bullet-proofing" is a temporary fix.
