  1. I have driven by there many times and never stopped... One of our favorite springs is Loftus off of the Middle Fork of the Boise.
  2. Interesting, I always read about the 1-2 shuttle shift.
  3. I don't recall hearing about this issue on other forums.. Seem's odd, how low are the rpms when it shifts, must be just above idle.
  4. I hit 70K on our last camping trip!!!
  5. My guess is that I had the bottom part of the clamp sitting on the lip and after 7K miles of boost cycles it slowly moved back. I know boot was fully seated and the clamp in the proper spot on the top. I don't make any more boost than stock, just much better flow, so I know it's not too much. I was fully expecting to see a ripped boot when I popped the hood, so an easy fix was quite nice.
  6. I must have goofed the install, thou it made it miles over 7K miles, of which over 3K were towing before it popped... About a 5 minute fix. I was able to still easily hold 65 and get to work at about 800° and 2-3 psi.
  7. It's little more of a scan tool than the Smarty. Other than being able to read PID's. In fact I can't even reset codes on my 05 with the SG, which they claim is common for some Dodge platforms. I have a Y cable in the garage I ordered to run with my Smarty Jr PoD function, but no dice the SJR didn't like the split OBDII signal.
  8. I ran kitty without muffler for a while and the sound was good, but the drone was horrible. I also don't think the kitties like the added smoke/soot from my Smarty so the kitty went for a vacation to the attic and the 40" went in. The sound was great, good tone, zero drone.. until you turned the exhaust brake on. The Donaldson did nothing for the high pitch EB noise, it actually hurt your ears if the windows were down. That's when I put the mega cab resonator in and now its a little quiet on the exhaust volume when empty, but perfect when towing and the exhaust brake is as quiet as it can be.
  9. Cajflynn, Do you have an exhaust brake? If so do you monitor backpressure? With my baby cam it his peak pressure about 500 rpms sooner, and I have yet to run it above 2500, not sure if it will stay below 65 psi?
  10. Don't let the size fool you, the 40" is only rated for 8-12 db of attenuation..Also straight piped, or lightly muffled 3rd gen's sound like a wet goose fart unless you change the turbo/manifold.
  11. A cam does do wonders! I have the 175/206 cam the Hamilton/Colt/PDR all sell. I didn't want to go any bigger for exhaust brake reasons.. but I LOVE it!
  12. Anything aluminized will probably work, so cheaper is good right!Do you know what you want for a muffler? Donaldson's are good, 40" is very high flow and great on sound (unless you have an exhaust brake) and the 51" is a little quieter. farmboysdiesel has a cheaper kit, as do many of the diesel websites.
  13. He has an 05, listed in the bottom of his sig.
  14. Running tubro's in parallel will do nothing for spool unless you go much smaller than a 62/65 as you only have 1/2 the exhaust volume to help. Even a HE351VE would spool slow on a 3 cyl. An S480 is a big turbo! With the fueling limitations of a VP truck I would think a S474 would be a much better turbo and light much easier. You can find S400's in the 600-800 range, but they all have the larger 1.32 a/r, which is fine if you only want upper rpm performance from your twins. A waste-gated .80 a/r for towing or a non-gated 1.1 ish would do much better for a street performer. The biggest cost to twins, unless talking BB turbo's, is the piping, or do you plan to do that yourself? On a variable vane turbo the turbo itself is the exhaust brake, so its within the secondary. If you go with a non-variable turbo the brake is external and in twins is in the downpipe. --- Update to the previous post... Personally I want to put a .85 non-gated housing on my GT3782R, use an external gate and put a GT4202R under it! Crack the gate on the secondary at about 15 psi, and get 45ish total. Now that's some $$$$$
  15. If you do I wouldn't run a super charger. In a super charger application you have a blower for low speed operation and a larger turbo, S400 or the like, feeding the blower at higher boost/rpm.To run a parallel system you really need two equal sized turbos, and doesn't work overly well on a I-6, more of a V-8 thing. The tripples do run the primary in parallel but its easier to split the exhaust in the hot pipe off the secondary. The HE351VE makes a good secondary turbo, but not big enough to be a primary on a CTD, it actually flows less than your 62/65 and only has minimally better spool. You could sell your 62/65 get a HE351VE, a Fleece controller and a S400 as the primary.. would be a slick set of twins with an exhaust brake. There are lots of S400's out there, or are you looking used only?
  16. Thats okay.. my buddy has my OEM's in his '00 F-250!
  17. That sounds like it needs an update. Plugging it into the computer will also tell you the software version.
  18. Depending on the exhaust brake it may not use power, my Jake goes to the battery direct and my truck can sit for 8 weeks without a battery issue, it's just giving a relay the positive for switching. I would guess time for new batteries. Sears Platinum's are about the best thing out there.
  19. When you plug it into the truck it should tell you the version. The current version is S06V419AR21E for non-PoD and S06PV405AR21E for PoD.
  20. Have you updated the 1st Smarty yet? There were some ECM updates that the Smarty had to be re-programmed for. www.madselectronics.com But either way calling Bob wont hurt, he's a great guy. If you do call him be sure tell him I said the new Jr tune is great!
  21. You are probably going to have to go to a dealership and pay for a stock tune. Nothing out there will remove the aftermarket tune. I'm 99% sure Smarty can't do anything for you, but have you called Bob? www.smartypower.com When you call him be ready to plug the Smarty in and tell him the error code.
  22. I would call FASS and order the proper spring.
  23. Dave Smith put a rolled 4" tip on my truck when I bought it, the rolls made the ID of the tip about 3.5".. was I PISSED!
  24. Honestly unless you are over 450 rwhp, or more, the stock setup can be made to preform better than aftermarket for less money.
