  1. Looks like were getting more pics!!!
  2. That's not the fluid I would run, as it's also a GL-5. The Amsoil fluid you want is the MTG 75w-90 GL-4. https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/transmission-fluid/manual/manual-transmission-and-transaxle-gear-lube-75w-90/?code=MTGQT-EA While the OE fluid may have been Castrol Syntorque, Syntorque is a fluid and not a specification (unlike syncromesh). The specification is MS-9070, which is a GL-4 fluid. There are several fluids available that meet MS-9070 so the "right stuff" does still exist. Many OEM's have fluid specifications that are separate from SAE ratings, such as Cummins CES20086 and CK-4 oil. That doesn't mean that something that isn't the OE fluid isn't properly spec'd. OEM's cannot require you to run a specific brand of fluid/filter/etc.. If they do, then they must furnish it. What they can do is require you run a fluid/filter that meets a certain specification, which in the case of the NV4500 is MS-9070. Even Mopar changed the P/N recommendation of fluid for the NV-4500 over the years, but it appears to always have been MS-9070. IIRC you paid about $265 (tax included?) for 5 gals of Delvac SAE50, and I can get 5 gallons of Amsoil MTG to my door for under $280 (tax/shipping included). Even if your price included tax the Amsoil doesn't come at "quite a price". If tax wasn't included one can get Amsoil cheaper.
  3. I know with my Mag Hytec diff cover that my axles take a long time to warm up in the winter, even without a temp gauge. I can see the increased engine load from 45 mph for 20-30 miles or more depending on temp.
  4. My point is that if it’s enabled it may as well be at a value that will do some good. 1400 is above that value.
  5. Agree. I’m quite happy I ditched my double A-pillar mount.
  6. That is too high for the timing your running and towing. If you ever got close for any amount of time you would likely have issues. With advanced timing and towing I would set your EGT high limit no higher than 1300° and pay close attention above 1250°. Remember as timing increases EGT's decrease and cylinder temps increase. This is why my stock motor could hold 1450° all day and now it can't. I have my alarm light hit at 1250° and I pretty much don't even need gauges, but the lights gone off a couple times over the years. On an average tow I don't break 1225°. I can pull white bird at 19-20K GCW and 65mph and, normally, not break 1225°.
  7. That's a lot of miles! Looking forward to more pics.
  8. While I agree with @Mopar1973Man about most failures not being able to be fixed in a remote spot I do carry a few simple things that will alleviate some more common issues. In my truck box I always have Tool set Air compressor (used LOTS) Tire plug kit (used LOTS) Serpentine Belt Fuel filters (getting bad fuel in remote locations/stations is more likely than a hi-flow station in town) 1 jug of emergency anti-gel (2 in winter) 2 pairs chains (3 in winter) 1 Qt of engine oil Tow strap, tree saver, etc Blanket for laying on or warmth 4 MRE's ~1.5 gallons of water Jumper cables, never needed to jump myself but they have lots of use Various plugs for external oil/coolant fittings on the motor Inside the truck I carry Fuses SPOT tracker Glock(s) 600A self jump starter I also have a hitch mounted winch that I take with me on most really remote trips. Not often in summer, but always in fall/winter/spring I also generally have my smaller chainsaw and a shovel. Depending on where I am going I will also take a 2nd spare tire.
  9. Pretty normal. I run a 190° and cruise at 188-193° depending on ambient temp and load. At a light it drops down to 182-185° depending on ambient temp and load. Why drop to a 180°? Although marginal, a 190° will yield better combustion/mileage than a 180°. I've considered running a 200° for the gains, but don't want to add 10° to my oil temp.
  10. My generally downshifts very smooth, but occasionally I'll have to do what you just described with some 4-3 or 3-2 shift but it's VERY rare.
  11. Are you talking about floating gears without the clutch?
  12. That's what I use as well. I have about 25K miles on it.
  13. That's my issue as well. Over 1/3 of my miles are towing at this point in my trucks life. Most of that is in the 18-22K GCW range, and I run about 400 lb/ft of torque over stock so I don't want to be the guinea pig. I'm curious on what Cody tells you.
  14. Exactly. There are plenty of accounts of a GL-4 and the NV5600 not playing well, but the stuff superstick runs doesn't appear to be a GL-4, just a MT-1. But it could be missing specs too. Even the stuff @Mopar1973Man runs only has GL-4 on the bottle, and not on the website or if you call them. It's ironic that MT-1 is a spec for non-syncro transmissions... GL-4 spec actually says it's often suitable where MT-1 isn't. Kinda funny. I can't find one online spec where MT-1 and GL-4 are on the same bottle. Only place I've seen it is Michaels photo of his SAE50. I can find MT-1/GL-1 and MT-1/GL-5 thou.
  15. Are the 2nd gens pretty accurate on that? The 3rd gen's don't appear to be.
  16. I too use filterspro.com. They have the best price I’ve found on the DBL7349. I buy 4 at a time and usually a couple fuel filters too. They don’t carry all the fuel filters I use thou. Geno’s is great, but far from cost effective. I only buy things from them I can’t get elsewhere.
  17. Hey dorkweed! I just ordered that switch for my MM3! It’s not an issue in the summer, but if the truck sits a few weeks in the winter I like to unplug it.
  18. Still seems like a wide tire for a DRW, but if you’re going for looks over functionality then a spacer may not be horrible.
  19. Yes, just don’t put it in a NV5600. Its too bad mobils website doesn’t have the full specs on it.
  20. I have received multiple comments on how nicely my NV5600 shifts. I have ran Amsoil MTF (assume that's what you mean by MTL??) since I owned the truck. My only shifting issues are stopped it hates to go into gear sometime, but that's a clutch issue and aside from pulling the trans it's here to stay for a while.
  21. Correct. Like the SAE 50 the website says it's a MT-1 which is a non-syncro manual transmission fluid. It may also be a GL-4, like the SAE 50 that only says it on the pail not the spec sheet, but either way that's not a fluid I would put in a NV5600.
  22. What tire size? The size of the rim doesn't mean much as you can have 20-40"+ tires on a 20" rim.
