Truck stolen
I think Mike is looking to make a sort of "exclusive" side to the forums where these topics could be discussed openly and safely, but like Hawkez mentioned, nothing too revealing has been put out.

The time has come to produce the Mopar1973Man High Idle & MPG fooler switches again.
Got it, I'll get those numbers as soon as I can.

Yea I can plug in my obd. What all do you guys need to see? Like numbers while trucks running/moving or just what numbers I'm seeing at key on and switching through modes?

Fuel pressure problem, again
If I remember correctly, white smoke on a cold start up is typically just a timing thing and nothing to really worry about. Plus with your injectors it'll only add to that. If it smokes with constantly then that's an issue. Btw, your truck sounds mean! What exhaust are you running?

New BHAF options!
Yea that'd be great!

Truck stolen
I guess that's really the best way to look at it, but I still hope you get your truck back!

The time has come to produce the Mopar1973Man High Idle & MPG fooler switches again.
Hey guys, got a high idle switch question. I haven't driven the 99 in a while so yesterday when I took it into work, I was going to start, made sure I had the switch in the MPG mode, turned the key to ON and my WTS light stayed on fffooorrreeevvveeerrr! Like seriously at least 45 seconds! After it went off I just started the truck and went because I didn't have time to do any diagnosing. So on my way home, I did the same exact thing, thinking maybe it was just a fluke, but nope, did the same thing. So instead of starting I removed the key, let it sit for 30-45sec and tried again, same thing. Next I removed the key for the same time, but moved the switch the off position, turned the key on and the WTS light went out almost immediately as expected since the truck was somewhat warm already and the outside air temp was pretty warm as well. Just for kicks, I let everything reset and tried again with it in MPG mode since I should be getting basically no WTS light and again, it stayed on suuuper long. Any ideas?

New BHAF options!
Ok so I finally got my heat shielf made so finally going to get a BHAF ordered up for the 02. What, if anything, do you guys use to keep the filter in place? Wish I wouldn't thought of this before hand because I would've tried to add something into the shield itself to help with holding it down.

High EGT's
Gotcha, just curious. I was thinking back to when I was towing the travel trailer. Up some fairly steep grades I saw probably 1000-1100, but that's stock fueling, stock exhaust, stock intake so either way I knew I'd have to really try to get myself in trouble.

High EGT's
De-fueling at 1150 seems sorta low doesn't it?

Anti-Theft ideas
I was thinking the same thing too Mike! Just felt like it wasn't really my place to go about making such suggestions about the site! I think it'd be a nice edition!
-
Anti-Theft ideas
Definitely thought the same, but as @leathermaneod pointed out, we probably shouldn't discuss minute details to our exact rigs, just generalities and go from there!
-
Anti-Theft ideas
Yea same here, wiring is not my strong suit! I like the idea of using something pre-existing in the trim as to make it even more hidden. If I remember from previous posts about things somewhat related to this, wiring up a lift pump or injection pump kill switch doesn't guarantee the truck not starting, so sounds like we'll need to get creative with how to keep the truck from starting 100%.
-
Anti-Theft ideas
Given that we've now had two forum members recently get their rigs stolen () I figured I'd start a thread on any and all ideas for anti-theft devices, switches, alarms, gps things so maybe we can compile our ideas to keep our trucks safer from these damn thieves! What do ya got?!

Truck stolen
Dude, I just scoured through all my craigslist areas from all over Washington and down into Oregon, no luck, but I'll keep looking!

Truck stolen
Man, this gets me so fired up! So sorry to hear about this Tyler, I really take this stuff personally when it happens to people on this forum. I really hope the truck shows up intact. I'll keep an eye out in the PNW.

Overhead console
If you check out this pic, it shows the one plug that connects into the upper console with the temp/compass read out. I couldn't see any wires from the open console space running back that would indicate they were going to the 3rd brake light. So maybe they're routed around the side or something. I was starting to have second thoughts and was thinking maybe I'd give this a go, but after seeing all that wiring, nah I'm good!
-
Overhead console
Yea I hear ya @dripley. Only reason I even considered it was because my current plastic is broken up there and I have a truck with a non broken plastic, it just also has the console with it too. @TFaoro the wiring harness that goes out right is the power for the lights in the sun visors. They have the option when you flip down there's lights on them.

Overhead console
Well to out everyone at ease, I think this is a no go for me. I was figuring it would be a straight forward easy swap, but I forgot about the sun visor and auto dimming rear view mirror. I don't have either options in the 02. So that's another set of wires I'd have to undo and re-wire. I don't think it's worth the time and hassle at that point. I really do like the look but so I anything I'll wait until a used one pops up so I only have to take apart my truck instead of both Here's the wiring on the 02 Wiring in the 99 two modules side by side

Overhead console
Ah ok, I got bad gauge on the figure out nonsense then lol I'll probably look into this a little more when I get time. Honestly seems like the hardest part is getting the headliner out back in without screwing it up too bad. That and taking my a-pillar and gauges just to run a wire down it! Ugh!
-
Overhead console
So the over head I'm looking to swap, I don't think the compass has ever worked. It always says it needs to be calibrated, I tried the figure 8 deal but didn't clear the calibration up. Would that still be there if I swapped? I know the trip meter can be pretty far off but does that also effect the DTE read outs? Is it difficult removing the head liner and getting it to go back in nicely? I don't want to mess it up! Haha
-
Overhead console
So it's probably not even worth trying the swap then hunh?
-
Overhead console
Yea I know it's not going to be accurate but the one in my 02 is broke so it'd be nice to have working storage compartments and things.
-
Overhead console
Hey guys. I'm looking to swap my overhead console out of my 99 and into my 02 before I finally sell the 99. Yea I know, I'm swapping everything I can! Lol! Anyways, is it just a simple one for one swap on the console? Maybe a plug already there? Or would need to take the plug along in the swap? Figure I'll have to swap the front sensor under the hood as well. If this was just something I was trying to piece together I wouldn't even bother but, DTE, a better trip meter and outside temp would be nice (if that would even work). So if anyone's done this swap or knows more about it, please chime in.

Busy & MIA
Sounds like good distractions there! Glad things are going well my friend!
