installing solar on the RV
Looking back at some old threads I see some that have installed the Harbor freight RV solar kit, I was thinking of going the same route, just wondering if any pros or cons with that kit/ anything I need to upgrade? I plan on making it portable, but one thing I would like to do is wire in a inverter so all the 120 outlets would be available for power. Just looking for some input. thanks also plan on using to 6v batteries They are about 215 ah. I hope the 45w panels are enough for charging, but I do have a generator for back up if needed.

Last sunday was first time in awhile I got to see blue sky around here, so took advantage and done some clean up work- Teach me how to drive up hill or get more power
I am in the same situation as you @015point9 I gross about 19K with truck 5 vr. and boat together. and with running stock power I just drive by gauges, nothing much you can do except take your time, and don't push the temps beyond the limits. I think in the near future some performance mods or going to be necessary since I am going to be increasing the payload a little. injectors and a tuner, and seriously thinking about an Exaust brake,( long overdue,) but with the 47re you can only do so much and it's not the uphill but the downhill that's torture on the brakes. Thier is is a few passes around here and down in southern Arizona that I am at about 25 mph when I hit the crest but even with stock power I'm able to keep the temps and tach within thier limits.- Multi meters for AC testing
Keep an eye on eBay, Used fluke are on thier quite frequently. I figured all flukes had the capability for reading .001 acv. but I may be wrong. I picked up a used fluke 77 III and very impressed with the quality.- Headlight options
Does the brite box take the place of adding the wiring harness with relays? It seems to me the box would have built in relays or something.- Shirts?
I think its a good idea. I would contribute, anxious to see the design- Headlight options
I got a chance to install my sport headlight conversion from DAP, went out at night to try them and on dim they were 100% better than before, as soon as I hit the bights things went dim I couldn't drive with the bights if I had to, I got to packages of harnesses in the kit, and have no Idea the way they are wired on the ones I installed. they were just labeled 9004 & 9007 and I installed them accordingly. So I got the extra harness out of the kit to look at the wires and compare to these from @Spike48. So maybe this is my problem. I will enclose a pic of the extra harness. I still plan on adding the brite box but don't know if that's going to fix my issue or not- Headlight options
I just purchased the sport headlight conversion from DAP, got the link from a previous post, you can't beet the price, and they are plug and play. Just received them couple days ago, I can't wait to install and try them.- Help with short Questions...

Is the reason I carry a spare, mine has been going for 6 years and about a 100k, I don't know what assembly line it came off of but just don't have the level of trust in it I should. The first one only lasted two weeks and locked up. I checked the gear rotors and they were clean but the shaft would not turn. I called air dog and told them and they sent me a replacement and did not want the old one back. So I tore the old one down and used visegrips on the driveshaft and it finally broke free, and thier were some contacts that looked burnt and I cleaned them up and bench tested it and seemed to work ok. So it might work for a spare but for how long who knows, but it may get me home if needed. That's good to hear jag- Mean While on Hoth....
norhing but wet slop around here, The major highway passes have been closing down do to avalanche activity, only two remain open, wolf creek and the one ithat runs past my place, lizzardhead. But I will be suprised if they stay open through the night. I think the other half of the state only has to deal with the 100 mph winds.- Mean While on Hoth....
It sounds like California could be seeing to much of a good thing when it comes to moisture. With friends in the Sacramento area that have been deeling with drought and fires for the last couple years, They say it's a welcome site. I m sure if it keeps it up flooding will be the next issue for them. Ive been through the drought conditions before, it can be rough watching your rivers and reservoirs go dry. As for us in the southern Rockies were about normal for precipitation. My neighbor down the road who acually has time to measure snow says we're about 45 inches total accumulation of heavy wet snow so far. Last year at this time we were at 150 inches at this time.- Mean While on Hoth....
When I was plowing snow for the state full time up on the passes, still do it on a temporary basis, but if a vehicle is even left close to the roadway, and considered a hazard we will call state patrol dispatch on the radio and they will have it removed by the next wrecker on rotation and it's usually gone within a couple hours. With a 12' front plow and 9' side wing and poor visibility, don't leave much room for error, If thier not stuck do to a slide off it's usually skiers or snowboarders who leave thier vehicle to go hike up the mountain. But with plenty of warning signs about parking some just don't get it. Your snow sound a lot like Wyoming, It never melts but just gets wore out from blowing around.- Mean While on Hoth....

you can laugh at the LWB. trucks when they are doing a 9 point turn on a narrow mountain road. Ive been pulling my 5 th wheel since 2006 and only had to use the slider a couple of times, and those were when I was trying to jackknife the trailer into a tight spot. As far as the auto goes, it really sucks on hold back power on the steeper grades, but if it were a perfect world I guess we would all have 6 speeds. but thats what I got so I just live with it. An exhaust brake is in the future though.- New Cummins owner - Intro and beating the dead horse on fuel delivery
nice truck, looks well preserved. glad to see another shortbed with auto trans. Now I'm not the only one. (LOL) I'm sure you will get some good feedback on your fuel system for they both are good systems whichever one you decide to go with, the important thing is that your getting it done before another dead VP. welcome- Happy New Year and conversation with engineer
that stingray emblem on that first pic, definitely says its a late 60;s or early 70's corvette, I guess if you can dream it you can build it here is one in a jeep- Happy New Year and conversation with engineer
I know the feeling in RV parks, I do both boondockin and RV parks, and one thing about the parks is the old dodge always starts up a conversation with someone who just enjoys talking trucks. Or just complimenting on the looks. You just don't get lonely in RV parks that's for sure.- Birthday present came...
Now that would have been something to see- Merry Christmas
White christmas ..Ba Humbug!!!! I havnt even got a chance to see what's under the tree yet. wife got me up early said to go plow the road before guest show up. ? Yay !! I just love living in the mountains sometimes. oh well. At least I got a trusty old Chevy with a plow and heater. merry Christmas to all- Funkyness 4wd
Are you locked in 4 hi when this happens? will it do it in 2wd? my guess is if you got a used one or had to repair it that is probably your issue, If it is I would remove it before something catastrophic happens. broken driveshafts or u joints at hiway speeds usually don't turn out good. If you remove the driveshaft and problem goes away then you defiantly need a new shaft, A rebuild by a driveline shop would be your best bet. Personaly if if your getting that much vibration at that speed I don't think balancing is going to help- How's everyone doing?
