  1. here's a good article ac repair.mht I cant get this article to open, maybe somebody else might have better luck posting it than I
  2. , I would pull a vacuum test on it first just to see if it will hold a vacuum. If not a couple cans of cheap freon should show a leak. If you don't have the tools they usually can be rented at an auto zone or something. They usually not the best quality but should get the job done. Your pretty much in the dark trying to trouble shoot an a/c system without them.
  3. Could have blown a hose or pressure relieve valve on compressor. Had this happen on another vehicle. If so something maybe causing it to overcharge. Only way I know how to check is with a set of manifold gauges and freon. I ended having a plugged condenser causing on overcharge and it set the pressure relief valve on the a/c compressor off
  4. Probably biggest reason my truck is still stock for the last 16 years ......but not for long
  5. That sucks that you have to play thier game. I think the state is self generated on all the paper work they create.
  6. It took me 2.5 quarts of power steering fluid to get home Sunday night from Longmont co. pulling the 5ver home. about 450 miles. It's hydroboost rebuild time.
  7. yes they do have a Bosch 815 stand. It looks like its already on the list
  8. @Bluelinecody It's been s few years since I delt with them but central motive power in Denver is who I went through for my vp replacement, It's a walk in facility and they seem to be a full scale bosch repair shop.
  9. Well I might be joining you all on the hydroboost rebuild, I pulled into a campground north of Denver yesterday after a 450 mile pull with the 5ver, I noticed my frame behind front wheel soaked with oil. Looks like it's PS fluid, and comming from around the hydroboost I guess I know what I'm doing when I get home..
  10. Do our hydroboost have a weep hole, like somewhere between mastercylinder and firewall?
  11. Might as well join the party, I'll just post some pics of my work and play
  12. Ya @Me78569 You are quite the looker.. but that dude on the right has got to go...
  13. I know that smoke and haze can be difficult to live with but it does make some wild looking sun sets. We been fortunate out here in the southwest with a short fire season and a wet monsoon season, finally starting to dry out a little. Already seen the first snowflakes hit the windshield at about 11000 ft. elevation. Oh boy!!.. can't wait havnt even got the first load of fire wood yet.
  14. you would think you were trying to regester a stolen Lamborghini or something
  15. If you do make sure you make the trip over red mountain pass between Durango and ouray, one of the most scenic and jaw dropping roads in the country
  16. From 2 days ago in the southwest corner of state neer silverton, co. Hard to tell from pic but fresh Snow on the peaks, it was 38 degree when I snapped this photo on Molas pass
  17. One of the first noticeable things to look at on a used skid steer would be the condition of the front bucket, you could have a general idea of what it was used for and if it was abused or not, also overall condition of machine Ike dents scrapes, tires etc... just like buying a used truck. Iif you find one that fits you, familerize your self with controls and gauges and find a safe spot and learn to operate it by starting out at a low rpm and checking functions and gradually work up to a higher rpm checking controls and functions ( be careful if you've never operated one they have tremendous power for such a small machine) and can be deadly on un even terrain. I would test it out as long as I could getting it up to operating temp . And check engine and hyd. Fluids for contamination and such. Like said by w&f , service and previous use of machine means a lot. Also tracked machines are a great alternative to a rubber tire machine
  18. If you total up front and rear axle weight on truck which is 9400 then add 7700 on trailer axles, which would be 17100 lbs. then subtract your truck Tare weight which might average around 6700 lbs. give or take a little? Won't know exactly unless you weigh truck by its self . That should leave your 5 th wheel at about 10400 lbs.
  19. Sounds like a classic example of CRS disease, fairy common in the aging process. I am showing symptoms of it myself, but you don't need to seek medical attention because thier is no cure. C. (can't) R.(remember) S.(....it).
  20. If I remember right I think Colorado may require brakes on one axle up to a certain weight I have had the local sheriff inspect my last one, It is a factory built trailer with obvious markings and I told them it came from Oregon which does not title trailers, He could not even find an existing vin #. He just filled out the form and gave to me to take to the DMV. Thier I just had to fill out a form stating That I had rebuilt the trailer and what I did to it. which was pretty much nothing except put new lights, spare tire carrier and repak the bearings.
  21. I know colorado can be real a..holes when it come to trailers, @Me78569 you can always register it as a home made and save yourself a lot of red tape. Ive done that to a couple of trailers and its a pretty simple process. I just did a boat trailer a couple months ago, no bonding required, and very little paper work. The only thing is when you get your title it will just state HM. instead of the factory name, if you can live with that your good to go
  22. Steering, suspension and brakes are a good place to start if not already addressed
  23. Can't complain about a deal like that
  24. Possibly the used ecm you installed is not triggering the lift pump as it should, Fist thing I would do is verify fuel pressure with a second gauge and wire lift pump directly to battery for verification purpose just to see if it is the ecm. not triggering your lift pump on.
  25. X2 on the coopers, I've run the discover series since I bought my truck in 2002. They weren't always at3 but my last two sets have been. For the price you can't beet them, I'm usually looking to swap mine out every 3 years or about 45000 miles just to make sure I had good tread for the up comming winter, since I do spend a lot of time i the snow and slush. A few years back when the coopers started to go up in price I went with a cheaper brand that DT sold, never again, those tires were good in the snow and ice but that's about it, you couldn't hear yourself think in the cab they were so noisy. the coopers are fairly quiet as far as I'm concerned. I bought my my last set of at3 last July 4 weekend during thier sell and with the discount and rebate I had around 500 invested in them .
