  1. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. Then other times it grabs by balls.
  2. It could crack the gear case since the fuel lines would be the only thing holding the rear of the VP up. Then you get to pull the cam and all of the other gears to replace it. Cant say I have ever heard of that happening to anyone but its possible.
  3. My 5600 has no doweis to line it up. I would assume 4500 does not either.
  4. Steel mud wasps!!! Carb cleaner wont even kill them.
  5. I think mine is a Spectra too. It was the first one I could find. Mine blew the end cap on the stocker. No leak it just emptied itself rather quickly pulling the grade up I 40 into the mountains. Fun day. Glad yours is working again.
  6. I want argue with either of you on these trucks. I am not knocking them at all. Bought mine new in October of 01 and I am fast approaching 500k. In those years it has left strand about 3 times I believe. Its been a labor of love keeping her going and I have not had to spend alot money over the years on her to keep her in good shape. She makes me 175 dollars every week of the the year just to have it on the job. They will pull anything you put on them on to them new, just not quickly. You do have to spend some money on it to do that. How much is entirely driven by how much power you want. Large or small pile it is all relative to that and what exactly a large small pile is to the individual.
  7. Well how much money is a lot to you Evan. My 02 would not do it new and I put about 3 grand in to to make the 50 mpn up the hill after the warranty expired. If you have some way to make the 99 pull it at 60 I am all ears. No offense meant.
  8. I guess I am a bit different. I ha e always liked the rake od a 3/4 ton. They just look like they are ready to haul anything you want put on them. Leveling one just goes against my grain. Of course if I had a new self leveling one, I could be persuaded.
  9. I would have to say to slay the hills like you want you need a newer truck or be willing to lay a pile of cash down to make the 99 perform like 2018. These 2nd gens are very good trucks and will pull house if you set them up to. They just want pull it fast. Mine will still pull that same 6% grade with15k on her back at 50 mph and the rest of the way thru the blue ridge mountains out my way. This is with 480k on her. My 96 with a V10 would pull it faster but at 4 mpg versus the 11.5 I get out of the cummins. Your 4th and my 5th are almost indentical, the only difference is the rear end gears. I would think yours would pull a 6% grade easy compared to my 3:55's. My foot is on the floor climbing those grades at 50 by the way and if someone slows me down I am in 4th and pretty much there for the rest of the climb.
  10. I am happy with my six speed also. They are more expensive to work on for sure. I have pulled many a 6% grade towing 12k to 15k in 5th with 3:55's around 50 mph.
  11. Used is only problamatic if the unit has problems. The edge products are somewhat year specific as in the 01 and 02 are different than the earlier models. I dont know about the xzt.
  12. I drove mine with just rv275's for about three years. I also have an aftermarket waste gate that opens near 33psi. I could feel the extra power up until boost exceeded 20 psi or so then the engine would defuel. Pretty much had to drive by the bosst gauge. I got pretty good at it but it was a pita.
  13. Thought these things didnt break in till about 400k. At least it seems everyone selling them wants you to believe that.
  14. Once the ECM sees about 20 psi of boost it is going to defuel the engine. You either need an electronic boost fooler so the ECM does not see 20 psi + of boost or a tuner that has it built in. And then a boost elbow to allow the HX to build more boost. Pretty much what @Me78569 just said.
  15. Happens to me occasionaly too. The ad thing that is.
  16. Kinda shied me away too. But I just bought 4 from RA for $14. Think I wil try them.
  17. You will save a nice chunk of money diy. Even upgrade the wire size from OE. Its not difficult at all.
  18. You can buy pre made ones off the internet at several places. It is alot cheaper to make your own with the ring terminals. and military battery terminals. I did all of mine out of 2/0 and place ring terminals on the smaller wires for about 100 to 120 bucks.
  19. I soldered mine about 20 months ago with no problems. Nothing against crimping, I just dont possess a crimper. I used an electrical grade of solder but dont remember the designation now. I also used the adhesive lined shrink tube but dont remember it being dual wall.
  20. My 3 AD 165 pumps have all dropped 3 to 4 psi at WOT. Even the new 4g pump. My pick up is only 3/8", could be why.
  21. Not much sliding with the 5600 on plywood. Dropped it with a floor jack and was able to get it out just dont remeber how. The second time was to replace the throw out bearing so did not have to get out from under the truck. The third time was in the dead of winter so I paid someone to do it.
  22. They are the same on mine too. Maybe the 02's are different than the 00's?
