  1. Well maybe we can see how they compare then. Ryan had many good reviews and some bad like everyone does. Dont know how you sort all of that out sometimes. Just make your and live with it I guess. Could have got a life time warranty Dorman for a lot less money but I dont want to have to do this 2 or 3 times to get it right. We shall see. But I did get 525k out of the OE so I think I am ahead of the game no matter how it goes. NC does not tax SS benefits. And If I am reading everything right withdrawals from my 401k is not countable income towards whether or not you pay taxes on your SS income. Hope I am seeing that right. The 401k withdrawals are taxable themselves though. Thought democrats just might find a way to tax it all before I turn 100. Of course by then they will have to dig me up!!! Hell they just might do it. Glad you got it all together. I have never had any reason to think my bearing is bad. Not sound out of it ever. So I hope I dont need to do that one. Only time will tell. Got some play but my money is on the gear and a track bar showing signs of wear. Tie rod end getting some play in it.
  2. Nice and simple mod. Plan to do it while replacing the steering gear.
  3. I have a Blue Top on the way right now. My next weekend schedule is set right now.
  4. While I believe the EV's are coming, fossil is not over by any means. I like to think even our government isnt stupid to ban them out right in our life time. Certainly not mine. But they never cease to amaze me with their wisdom, supposedly. Whats another 1.9 trillion amongst friends.
  5. I would like to thank @Joe_Poolfor the info on toold. Picked up the Lang and it looks very suited to the job,
  6. I believe what Mike is saying is the live data tool is not able to read the voltage properly. Just like my scan gauge cannot read the MAP sensor properly. It is just a glitch and the ECM is not seeing that crazy high voltage.
  7. I am runjing off of an EV1 and it seems tomfunction just fine also.
  8. It will take time, its not going to come overnight. The tech is catching on and improving all the time even with small percent of sales the EV's are of the market at the moment. Cost of batteries while still pricey keeps coming down. I believe they are about half what they were 10 years ago. The power will come from good old american capitolism. Supply and demand. I could see my wife maybe driving one and I would drive it too, around town anyway. I still want a vehicle I can go 600 miles or more on a fill up. I could see myself back in the late 1800's not wanting to give up horse for noisy smokey contraption. Back in the 1920's my grandfather bought his first car. Before he would let any family member ride in it he took home and parked in the barn and took it apart to see what made it tick. Once he was satisfied he put it back together and they went for a ride. Think I got some of him in me.
  9. Its possible I guess. I just cant remember for sure where that number is. And it is listed as a 3 digit number like 036. I did find this. I googled "key number on a vp44 injection pump and a lot of info came up. Just dont have time to dig thru it.
  10. I have agree with @Me78569on this one. The EV's are coming and will outstrip the gassers one day. When the power companies figure that out the infrastructure will take off and then the EV's will be paying the road taxes just like any other vehicle. Oil will not go away but be in reduced demand and gassers will be around as long as I am alive anyway. Its coming and maybe not a bad thing.
  11. Either way would seem to work. Even with our seconds being straight you still cant open the rear with out opening the front. I guess straight is a little cleaner looking but it still functions the same.
  12. This has and still is fun to watch. I went back to post #1 just for the heck of it and Friday the 12th will be the 7th aniversary of the thread. Keep up the good work.
  13. The funny thing on mine while I was MAP sensor problems was 28+ at idle and then when the sensor let go 14.6 psi. That number sound familiar? never had it happen in in a higher altitude to see what it would say when they failed.
  14. I beieve the key nummber is on the data plate on the pump. Here. Not a very good place to try and read it though. You could try and take a picture of it with your phone maybe.
  15. Good clean DC power is a must on these trucks. The electronics struggle with out it. So I would say yes it could be part of your problem. Cables and connections need to good also. I replaced my cables and did the ground mod pretty close time wise and have not experienced a electrical gremlins since. I had surging and dead issues that cleared up afterwards Did all that about 2.5 years ago.
  16. WT's ground mod is worth its weight in gold and very easy to do.
  17. Was it running fine before that set went in?
  18. How long were the previous injectors in the truck?
  19. If everything was running fine before the DDP's, as you mention in the first post, that sure points a big finger at them.
  20. 290 is pretty low. That and IIRC the DDP have a bit different spray pattern than Bosch. Combine the 2 and they could be the culprit.
  21. I pulled the snap ring on mine and it appears to me I will have to hang it from the manifold and mark the proper orientation then take it off and reinstall the clip. That is one man sized piece of hardware.
  22. Thats my son that will have that done if the truck aint running good when he takes on my last ride. And he would probably sell to the first $500 that crossed his hand before leaving the grave yard. So much for the family heirloom.
  23. Injectors would be my first thought also. I had the same miss you speak of many years back and it was injectors. DDP injectors are known to be hot and smokey and its possible one may have been popped improperly, happens to the best of folks. I darn sure would not just replace the ECM hoping that fixes it.
