  1. I swapped over to CFL's a good while back. During that process, Duke Energy decided to help everyone out and sent me a box full of them, at least 12 but maybe 16. I dont remember now. Anyway started picking up a couple LED light out of the discount bargain bin at Lowe's just to try them. I like them too. Next thing you Duke Energy sends me a box LED bulbs. Any body need any CFL's. I got plenty of them and still have not used all the LED's yet. I even put some LED's in for the florescent bulbs in the kitchen. Big improvement.
  2. If it could jump a tooth we would have been discussing the problem along time ago with as many pumps that have been swapped out over the years. And I have to ask. If the gear jumped one tooth would that not make a pretty drastic change in how the pump runs?
  3. Any blue smoker? I experienced something very similar at 75k miles but had a lot of blue smoke when it would happen. Restart the engine and it go away and sometimes it would take 2 or 3 times. Sometimes it would just come out of it on it's own. Turned out to be the VP. It was replaced under warranty and I did not ask many question about the cause.
  4. I run Delo for now but ran rotella for q long time also and no additives. All dino and no synthetic. Again just what I do. I have nothing against synthetic.
  5. That is mainly why I wrapped mine, to keep the air filter from hitting it and it rubbing on anything in that area. I used some foam tape and wrapped that with aluminum tape. Pretty like the oe one was. Really was not thinking about insulation value.
  6. Finally got to look at my ac clutch this weekend. It seems it has worn enough that the metal plates on the front have actually rubbed the pulley enough to wear the metal thru around the outside. I just bit the bullet and ordered all new.
  7. No LEDs yet. I have had to fix both the switches. I used the same gray silicone I used on the front and rear diff covers. All I had on hand at the time. Still working a year later.
  8. I got 65k out of the first 2 sets. I am sitting around 72k on this set and have no doubt these will go 80k. That will be a first for me.
  9. I used a piece of 12" wide aluminum flashing. Put a bend in it to go down the fire wall and just set it on the valve cover, lifted it and pulled it right out. The flashing just stayed there as the valve cover slid out.
  10. He swears IIRC. Me I am sticking with the Coopers.
  11. I have a drainage ditch in front of the house. I just park on the side of it and put it in thru the fill hole.
  12. I dont drive much in a dusty conditions but I do idle in one a good bit just being on the job site. Never noticed any dusty intake pipes that I have read about.
  13. I should add my 435 mile trip is all interstate except for 8 miles. If I am in the left lane I move over for faster traffic and let them by. 2 lanes are a different animal. I do agree when on the rail gating, once my tailgate blocks their headlights they are way to close. I like to use my exhaust brake. Usually only takes once but some folks take twice. Never been tail gated In the store line. Maybe I look too mean.
  14. I suffered no I'll effects from mine that I could tell. Kept it oiled and cleaned it gently. I just found the BHAF more to my liking after learning about it. The wife had a K&N her 1st Dakota. Got oil changed somewhere on the road and the folks there cleaned hers with compressed air and what ever liquid they used. Had to throw that one away.
  15. That is a pretty accurate statement. There is more than one product out there that will accomplish goals. And just make every one cringe, I ran Fram oil filters and a K&N air filter for many years.
  16. The left lane riders get me the most. Just content to ride barely passing or not at all with the right lane open. But they all seem to need to speed up when you go to pass them on the right. Funny part is after I pass them and settle back around 75 or a bit more, I drive away from them with ease. Some of those passes would qualify as my bone head moves. The state of Virginia started writing tickets for people riding in left lane and blocking traffic.
  17. I run these for a oil filter. Could not guote the technical data. @AH64ID recommended it. Got them for about $11 each from filtrpro.com. I get my fuel filters and soon air filters from them.I ran rotella for many years. Then heard a lot about Delo, got deal on some and been using since. The new CK stuff is supposed to be even better. I usually get the 2.5 gallon jug and it's a bit cheaper still. I have never done anything to my drain other than remove and re install 11quarts takes mine to the full mark.
  18. Cell phones and left lane riders are my biggest peeves. The former mostly youth, the latter covers all ages. Ran across lot of the latter on this trip home.
  19. The dings are weird. It should not ding just for a code. Mine never has anyway and have seen my share.Even though you have a new FASS, monitoring fuel pressure is important. Low fuel pressure will grind up your VP, probably the reason for the p216 code. No telling how long the previous pump might have been feeding the VP to little pressure. With out a gauge you never know how much pressure you are feeding the VP.
  20. It was one of those wrecks you never see, gone before you get. 8 miles 30 minutes. Thank goodness for granny gear, save a slot of ware and tear on the clutch leg.
  21. And at least one nice thunder storm to add to the misery.
