  1. I know a good while back I heard of folks putting LS diff additive into the 5600 and claimed good results. Know one I knew at the time had any comment on it so I never tried it. I think I might just for the heck of it before the next trans oil change just to see if makes any difference. Just not sure of long term affects on the internalls.

Well shame on me. I guess why I did not mention it is that electrical advice and the chicken man are not normally mentioned in the same sentence. But here goes @Dodge2k. The thread below is what I used when I did I this. This is A good read on the subject. @W-T did quite alot due to what he runs on his rig . Mine has nowhere near the power requirements so what did is less involved. What I did was start at the alternator by removing the #6 B+ charge cable from the alternator to the PDC. I also removed the blk w/tan stripe ground wire from the passenger battery to the splice buried in wiring harness near the VP, just cut the wire at the splice and cut the other end at the y splice near the battery. I then cut the 4 wires on the other side of the splice and removed it. I crimped and soldered on a 1/4 ring terminal for 12 to 10 gauge wire on the 4 wires. I used a section of the larger blk w/ tan tracker wire that I removed from the battery and made wire with ring terminals on each end and bolted one end along with 4 wires now joined in ring terminal to the timing case cover with the bolt specified in the thread. And attached the other end of the single larger wire to drivers battery neg terminal. Next I made up a #4 gauge wire with ring terminals to run from the alternator charge post to the B+ on the passanger battery. I had some new battery cable laying around for this wire. I removed every thing from the harness including the wire loom all the way to the VP. I used a utility knife with a new blade to cut the tape off at the joints. I was very careful doing this so as not to cut into any of the wires. The tape that's on there will pretty much fall apart even if it is not cut all the way thru. After it was all removed I began the reassembly. Two things I have not done yet are replacing the PCM ground, I just reconnected the existing wire with all its splices and I have not run a ground to both battery B- posts. I ran out of daylight. But just this alone took my A.C. voltage from a marginal .035 down to .010. I was quite surprised. This is a very worthwhile mod to do. And my thanks go out to @W-Tfor the in site and also to @IBMobile for dumbing down to my level. Thanks guys. One other thing I did, and this will make @Mopar1973Man and @JAG1 happy, was connect my AD fuel pump to the PDC terminal vacated by the old charge wire. I had it connected to the alternator. That leaves me with one question. Does the B+ from the driver battery power the PDC?
  3. The disc springs are different. Here they are. TheValair The SB. As far as noise all I have ever heard out of mine was the gear roll over noise with Valair and 4th in the original started whining some before it got stuck. The only other thing I seem to hear is the Cummins. I looked into the Pennzoil Syncromesh way back when and it says it meets the Mopar specs and a lot folks were using it with success and still do. I am comfortable with it. A lot of folks use different oils with success also. As stated it is as clear as mud.

Welcome to the forum. Just jump right in when you're ready.
  5. The only time either of my transmissions was noisy was when I had the Valair clutch in in the second one. A lot gear roll over noise. Not peep out of it with the South Bend that's in it now.
  6. i am sure my Mom was proud back in 56. And apparently I was happy with it.
  7. I guess mine can be notchy, if you mean it seems to pause in neutral while shifting. Mine does to a degree but I have grown used to it. But if I want to shift quick I can do that, just requires some thought. The NV5600 is a big tranny and I never expected it to shift like a sports car but it is fun to try. I personally will stick with the Pennzoil.
  8. A little younger than 7 but I long for the days of life so simple.
  9. I have used Pennzoil in my first 6 speed and lost 4th at 245k. Got stuck in gear and I had to hulk out. Never went back in. It resides in my shop since. I bought one from a junk yard with 52k on it and it still resides in the truck. Still shifts fine and has had a steady diet of the Pennzoil and now has about 250k on it. I cant say anything bad about the Pennzoil.
  10. I knew when I typed my response it could be taken in more ways than one, but the more I typed the more I could not resist. Here's to being 7 seven years old again, boys and girls. No offense meant nor taken, just another good day on the forum!!!!
  11. Dude, FWIW she called my BHAF support a widget. So i just want to see hers. Petty fair trade in my eyes.
  12. I saw your post the other day and feel for you and her family. My sister in law was having the same problem and died yesterday. It was a little touchy for me to respond. But my thoughts and prayers are with her, Betty and her family as much as they are with mine. It is tough to loose those that we know and love, just know way around it. So to Betty I wish her the best and to Carolyn, I wish her God's speed on her journey.
  13. I want to see your widget, in the most polite way you can show it.
  14. The DRBIII is the tool the dealer would use to diagnose problems with. They are quite expensive unless you can find a good deal on used one. But even then they are pricey from what I have seen like in the 2k to 3k range. A good DRBII code reader will suffice for most of the problems we encounter.
  15. The only time I had that issue was when my ECM took a dive. But I would expect to see many more codes and the truck behaving badly, maybe undrivable. It does not sound like that's your problem, you would notice some of that at idle.
  16. You might want grab the wiring harness where it connects to the ECM. Squeeze it and move what you can. That has helped me with some of the issues of late. There is a splice in there that all the sensors share, very similar to the main computer splice near the VP.
  17. Wouldn't have it ant other way. A first for me in chicken land anyway. Now you see it Now you don't First CFA I have ever demolished. The building was about 16 years old. They were selling 7.5 million bucks a year out of this store. The kitchen looked like it was twice that old.
  18. It is finally getting spring like out this way.
  19. That is similar to how mine has acted though mine has no where near the drop you are seeing. I have seen mine drop 15* or so in a few seconds and somes lower but not as quick or as large a drop as you are seeing. I am not seeing the wid swings anymore except on a rare occasion, very rare. This after messing with the wires as a whole in there harnesses. Not sure where to start on the individual wires.
  20. Sometimes your windshield, sometimes the bug. Have a nice day Mr. Moth...
  21. Not hearing it is a bit of a handicap.
  22. I have never done a vdeo.
  23. Kind of hard to say without hearing yours idle.
  24. I was going to swap in the old one and it broke so i ended up with old back in place. My surging stopped the day I did that and has not come back. Of course then I started having MAP issues. Another thing on my surging, an APPS did NOT fix it. But my surging was different from yours.
