  1. Never done beer can chicken. Usually when I cook chicken you have make chicken salad out of it. You need plenty of mayo to help you swallow it. Tastes good just a little on the dry side. As far as the wiring once I knew I had a grip on it I allowed myself pre victory beers. And on the beer can chicken I do know it is most important to be sure you don't use a full, unopened can of beer. That is unless you like space chicken.
  2. Your almost right. You left out the part where he backed into a giant zip lock bag.
  3. My youngest son is driving to the grave yard in this one. But, as he put it, it better be running right or he is calling ahead and telling them to "dig a bigger hole". Feel the love!!!
  4. First thing i did was disconnect the batteries. Then checked and rechecked everything to be sure it wasmright and i had not picked up a not for ground somewhere or a ground for a hot. Trust (me), but verify(me the electrician). Burning wires and electronics would have been a major set back. This is why I hang around this place. Learned a lot from these folks here. Great bunch. Pretty easy for me to rack the miles up. I am back to near 1000 a week again getting back and forth to work. I just checked it again after arriving here in Maryland and it still sits at .010v ac. Another thing i noticed was the charge in the batteries seems a bit higher. I usually see 12.45v at best. I checked today and see 12.65v. I will try to remember to check it in the morning after it sits all night. BTW I chickened out on it last weekend and just bit the bullet and did it this week end. So far nothing has fried, not even the chicken.
  5. 439.5k. I will make it, but some electrical education cant hurt.
  6. If I can you can do it, and I despise wiring. But I do know that to see 500k out of her, I am going to have to get educated on this side of things.
  7. Dont throw the towel in yet on the ECM. I have had crazy temp swings on my truck for 10 or so years, most swinging low. Pretty sure its in the wiring and most likely grounds you cant just clean. I lost my ECM about 8 years ago and had surging, more pronounced that what you are seeing and the temp would peg on a cold start sometimes and sometimes not. Never saw it drop like yours. I have however seen similar drops before and after the the ECM was replaced. The surging returned about 3.5 years ago and stayed with me for a while until one day messing with the MAP sensor and for some reason it stopped and has not done it since. That was 6 months or so ago. I dont have the answer to the problem but I am willing to bet it has nothing to do with the ECM, and probably not you sensor either. I have 3 to prove it was not mine. At least I will not have to ever buy another.
  8. I just got thru doing @W-T ground mod. Not complete however, I lack the ground between the 2 batteries and did not remove all of the splices on the PCM ground. Those will have to wait, not long I hope. I did just as @W-T and @IBMobile describe. All went well and when I fired it up everything ran hot straight and normal. Now the thing that surprised was the ac voltage reading on the alternator. Prior to this I had marginal reading of .035. After the mod I have a reading of .010. I was expecting a difference but not that much on the same alternator. It took me a lot longer than @IBMobiledid, but I expected that. Whenever I do something I am not used to doing I move pretty slow and deliberate. I would be interested in knowing if anyone else that has done this is seeing that much improvement on the ac voltage.
  9. I have run the RV's on mine with a Banks tuner, 75hp, by themselves with no tuner, and with an Edge comp. They ran great with and with out the tuners. Picked up a little mpg bump as well. Thinking about getting mine re done and reinstalled. Great for daily driving and towing.
  10. My tester will do that too. I just put a piece of wood between the end and something solid on the truck, Keeps it there. Dont forget to check the turbo and intake manifold cover.
  11. You want to see somewhere around 34 35 pounds max. Any thing over is detrimental. Might be hard to get if you still have any boost leaks.
  12. I have the Banks 4" with flow thru muffler on mine from back in 05. Not sure how much it has changed over the years. The sound has remained constant and I like it. It does have some drone it around 75, but being by myself most of the time I dont pay it much attention. It is only when some one rides with me do I notice how much noise the truck makes. We ran Magna Flow on the wife's 2000 Dakota. I really liked it. Great sound and no drone. All you heard was what came out the pipes. No clue of how it acts with the Cummins.
  13. The thought has come to mind. I think have RV's rebuilt and put them back in for now. They were pretty clean with the Comp until I make another swap over. The Banks was good power for me at the time. But it sucked when it died. Lost all but my fuel pressure gauge. Remedied that one though with stand alone gauges. The Comp was a big step up and then like you say the Quad came out not long after I bought the Comp. Just my luck. The good thing is I got to watch ya'll work a lot of the bugs out. So for now we tide with the Comp.
  14. If it leaks in the hvac box you cant see it. Used the green dye on mine and it puddled in the box. Never saw until I pulled it. Not even sure a sniffer will go in there.
  15. Well at least now I know there is such a thing. Amazing how old the technology is.
  16. Dont forget every ones favorite, the evaporator under the dash, had one there a while back, now I have another.
  17. That would help even better. My Comps helps but is smokey until the turbo spools.
  18. Try rolling into the throttle and dont stab it. Mine likes that better.
  19. Its going to be a laggy down low. Just the nature of the truck with no tuner on it.You are pretty much stock right now aren't you? Or did you put some bigger injectors in recently?
  20. Not quite there. 2 more years I hope. My finances are getting there. Just don't need a bunch of lingering crap when I do.
  21. Not sure mine wss that clean when I left the dealership with it. Good to see you back.
  22. My oe came rated at 136 amps. I think all the diesels all came with the 136, maybe not. But it was at the least an option.
  23. Out of necessity or convenience?
  24. Forgot about pump bracket, definitely could be source.
