  1. Happy bday Mike. I appreciate all the help thru the years and look forward to many more.
  2. The first time I used 2 stroke the queting effect was imediately noticeable. My son a brother were standing there and they both thought I was out of my mind. "Quieter ?" they both replied. I am pretty sure they thought I was crazy, but it was very noticable to me.
  3. I noticed it was sitting nice and level, thats why I asked. Mine also has the camper package and I once hauled 2 cubes of brick in mine. Thats just under 6k and mine stll sat level. It actually road very well but all of the weight was down low. It still amzes me as to what these truck will do. I dont plan to haul that much unless under the gun as I was that day.
  4. oops!! I have taken them out on other ujoints with a screw driver or maybe something else, but id ont remember them being very difficult. I am also assuming you meant the ujoints and not the ball joints.
  5. I had all my drive line off when replacing the tranny and did not need a blow torch for any of them. Wish I had had the time to replace them at the time.
  6. I have done that before, it just did not sound sophisticated.
  7. I have a ball joint press the supposed to work for that. I have not had a chance to use it for that purpose yet. As far as what brand, ther are so many to choose from I could not recomend one over that other. Trying to figure out wher some of them are made is difficult, for me anyway.
  8. How much does the camper weigh on you 02?
  9. 65* here in Iowa yesterday and misty. 35* today and its snowing but not sticking. I cant leave soon enough.
  10. My brother owned a Buick Someset many years ago and the tstat was under the radiator cap on a long handle. Just pull the cap, pull the handle and reinsert same and you were done. The wifey's Dakota is on the underside of the engine. It has a reverse flow cooling system. its really messy.:cry:As far as that tstat you have, I just went in the parts house and asked for one for an 02 and thats what they gave me. It looked right so I put it in. Worked as crappy as the rest. But since it worked in yours, the problem must be somewher else. I have got to change my heater core so I will be draining everything pretty soon.
  11. If my memeory seves me correctly, I googled the part number and it came back as a tstat for an 03. Not sure where I bought it, but the only Cummins stat I bought was a 180* and I still have that one. My problem must lay elsewhere. Glad it worked for you. If I ever get my problem solved i want have to buy another tstat for a long time. I have a nice collection of tstats and a couple spare ECT sensors to boot.

    Welcome sir.
  13. Me, Ihope to be headed south and away from all of the white stuff. Salt included.
  14. My truck was undrivable when mine went out. The engine was surging on its own. The throttle response was slow and would just keep going higher in rpm no matter where you held it and some times no response at all. The temp gauge would peg 15 to 30 seconds after a cold start. I replaced that sensor with no change. The voltage coming from the sensor was working properly but the ECM was not seeing it properly. I even replace the instrument cluster because the diagnostic I ran on it said it was bad. No change with that either. I am definately not an electronics expert, I just knew in my heart that there was no way everything went out at once. A reman ECM soved my problem. I am not saying replace it, some testing is in order before spending that kind of money.
  15. Welcome corey from another Tar Heel. Hickory to be precise.
  16. Hey CSM, I like your truck it looks vaguely familiar.A little paint would help mine also.
  17. I saw a gain from 18 to almost 20 empty on the highway running 70 to 75. It starts to drop off after that. Towing, I went from 9.8 to 11.4 on my last haul from Nahville tn thru St louis on the way to West Des Moines Ia. I did slow down a little and tried to keep at 65 mph and no faster. I am sure that helped also. I pull a 36' Cardinal that weighs in at 15k. The 275's are a very nice add on, especiallly considering the the cost and ease of instll. Very seldom do I have to down shift as long as the grade is 3% to 4% and I am seeing boost and egt numbers very similar to yours.
  18. When my ecm went i had high and low voltage codes on darn near every sensor on the truck. I could not believe they alll went at once and it did turn out the ecm was bad.
  19. Same her 98, this job is in my near future. The dash is the last part I must buy.
  20. As always much more detailed and elequent than I.
  21. Low fuel pressure will contribute to low cooling. The vp relies on fuel for cooling. The return fuel line from the vp starts to open at 10 psi and is fully open at 14 psi. Many of us are running after market lift pumps to keep that pressure up and the valve fullly open. I did not see what kind of lift pump you have. Do you know what fuel pressures you are running at idle and WOT? Thger are many folks here with 150K+ miles on there pumps with this set up.
  22. The key trick does not work on all of them. it seems to on the 02's but the 00 anthe 01 are hit and miss. if you try it you should see p done twice. If you only see p done once it is reading only one computer. The codes you get with this method are not always all of them either.
  23. He still has them listed there for $389. That incledes $100 core deposit. YOu get that back if you send your old one in for a net of $289. Thats only $20 more than when I bought mine. I kept my old one for spares. You cant hardly beat that for new Bosche injectors. Free shipping too.
  24. I used a metalic pad this last time and you can really see the wear on the rotors. Might get rid of them if I can find the time.
