  1. mine is doing the same thing. i am pretty sure that the basket rotated slightly when i rinstalled it and i just did not notice:doh:. i think the float is probably hitting in the corner of the tank and giving me a false reading. i use my trip odometer as much as my gauge anyway.i am just going to have to get used to it until i drop the tank again.
  2. can the ecm the mech got from chrysler be programmed before it is put on the truck? the truck never went to chryler for programming. the nearest dealer was 40 miles away. he had an obdIII to do the vin #. the software from chrysler has got to be proprietery i would think.
  3. the starter comes off pretty easy. 3 bolts, one is a little difficult the other two are easy. you could take your fuel filter cannister off and probably see just as well unless its real low. fuel canister is easy to move on my 02. not sure how differant the 01 is.
  4. this is intresting suff. beings i need to adjust my valves in the near future i will be watching closely. i can be used for a guinea pig if that would help, but my tanny must go on first. after that i will be happy to try or just use some of this information to my benefit. either way it sounds l like a win win situation.
  5. my wife is on her second dakota. the 1st was a 2000 auto 2X4 4.7 quad cab. it had quite a few mods on it. we put 165k on that one. i would of kept it but the lowered suspension had caused us some heartache and was getting ready to again. it was a good looking truck though and the jet chip that was in it gave it some very good power. i did not realize how much until we bought the new one. chrysler had employee pricing in 06 and we traded on a new one. we have 125k on this one with no problems. i just replaced the spark plugs today. they had a light tannish brown ash on them. the elctrodes were worn though. we got this one with the 4.7 4X4 Quad cab. gas milage was a little better with the first one. milage with the 06 is about 20 highway 12 to 14 around town. that just depends on your right foot. we have gotten good service out of both of them and i would not hesitate buying another.
  6. i am not trying to muddy the water on this but why is there multiple part numbers for the ecms? when i was looking for one for my 02 it seemed the part number mattered more than the year and options.
  7. my first 100k a got between 18 and 20 mpg with everything bone stock. the milage depended on how fast i drove. there was no towing involved. i checked fairly regular, but did not keep any records. i then added the banks stinger plus. 4"exhasut, with straight thru muffle, quick turbo, ottomind tuner. i got pretty good power ou of it, with no change in the milage. i could hot rod aroun or just drive normally and it stayed the same. the only differance i ever have is from speed. now this is for highway driving and around town iusually get 14 to 15.my milage has been very consistant since i bought it, before and after the banks. for a brief period i was getting 20mpgwhen i installed my new vp running between 70 and 80 mph.
  8. good looking wheels. i had a set of American Racing rims on my 96, same style. good price too.
  9. i guess anything that keeps us talking and thinking is a good thing. speaking of thinking, hows Stuntmen of Mopar sound. could be a whole new forum.
  10. i went the rebuild route about a year ago. Autoecu.com. i do not recoment them. $400 for the rebuild plus a $200 core charge. the kept my core charge because they said it could not be rebuilt and they had to use another. took 2 weeks to get it back and it did not work. i had to send it back and they fixed it, but it took almost 6 weeks to get it back. every thing worked but the cruise control. needed the truck on the road a gain so i just drove it no cruise. it lasted about 6 months and now it is sitting on my front seat. I ended getting one from chrysler through a mechanic for $1000. he had the tecnology to program it and charged $100 for that.i was not a member here then and was on my own. i would not do it again unless some of the guys here had some experience with a rebuilder. just my .
  11. it's been in the low to mid 80's out on the east coast of nc this week. humidity is low for now also. very pleasant. in a bit of drought. we could use some rain. great weather for getting a building out of the ground, but the farmers aint loving it.
  12. that is freaking hilarious. did you read the other elelven pages? maybe ill find time.
  13. the injectors themselves might be hunp up causing fuel to leak into the cylinder causing the oil level to rise
  14. my new air dog bumps on when i turn the key on for a 1/4 second. i dont know wether the othe 2 lift pumps i have had did that or not. i dont know why yours is coming on for so long.my 02 has a schrader valve on the fuel inlet of the vp44 and if you have or know someone who has a test gauge youcan check your pressure with out having to redo your current fuel pressure gauge. while you have the bed off check and see if you have an in tank pump. you will either hear it running in the tank or on the side of the block just rear of you fuel filter canister. it would be very easy to put a good fuel system on while the bed is off, if you have the luxury of time.
  15. i have LRG tires on my 5th wheel. both tires and rims are rated for 110# psi. i am having to replace one that was stolen and the guy at Discount tire told me he could not find a steel rim rated for 110 only aluminum. have not been able to check that out yet, sounds odd to me.
  16. i think that list is another whole website.
  17. never had to go into mine yet,but when i am in there i will also do the vacume pump also. i think they both run of the same drive. they both have a rebuild kit available and dont appear to be that difficult to work on. since i have never done it i could be wrong, but would not have any qualms about tackling it.
  18. some of the guys here have electric gauges and some us have mech gauges, as long as they are installed properly they both work very well. does your pressure normally run as high as 24 to 26 psi? the best i ever managed out of a stock lift pump was 10 or 11 psi. the excess noise could be the pump going bad, though the pressure reading is strange for a bad pump. is the pump a oe pump?
  19. Hawkeye, i am curious how that rebuilt 6 sp worked out for you? was it worth what you paid for it.
  20. very good pictures. Hows the shoulder?
  21. when i was in OK they sold B5 at the love's i was working at. a sticker on the pump said that it could contain up to 20%. does that ring true with yall's experience or am i i just dreaming that it said 20%? meant to ask yall that while i was there.
  22. were you having a hard time keeping your tire pressure up or were they cracking from the center?
  23. very very little bio out here. i think i wil just get me a tranny and let the fuel lay. appreciate the info guys.
  24. i filled my tank up the day my tranny crapped out. so it is sitting in the driveway with a full tank of fuel. it could be a couple of months before i get it back on the road. how long can the the fuel sit there before it degrades and is there something i can doto prolong its life? really dont have anything else to run it in.
  25. i feel your pain. dont happen to have a cheap but great 6 speed door stop laying around do you? love to see those rims though.
