Coolant temp
These engine do not produce alot of heat idling especially from a cold start in 30* weather. I can let idle for 30 minutes or 2 hours and not see any difference in temp until I drive it. I have never found any benefit by letting run in the morning more than a couple minutesI. am sitting idleing after driving to work and only at near 175*. But if you have a 190* t stat it should come up near 190 and hold while your driving. Might just be starting to fail. They are not expensive and easy to replace.

1999 24 valve high idle and bucking at highway speeds
You are not setting any voltage on the Timbo, just taking a reading and watching for a rise in the voltage. Much different than the OE.

RUST: what is everyone doing to prevent it?
Any body remeber the cash for clunkers program a good many years back?

Be alert!
As straight as that road appears to be he had to get by a falling rock. I wonder about that whenever I drive past a Danger falling rock sign.

Mine is far from dry except at the front. I ditched the breather bottle a while back. That breather will also plug your radiator with oil and dirt. You cant see it either without pulling the radiator or the engine starts overheating. This is very mild compared to what it can do.

I would have to add that a leaky rear main will do about the same except when stopped the puddle is more contained than with a leaky tappet cover. Had one of those once and it was like driving the Exxon Valdese, what a mess. I also squirt a little motor oil in the opens at the bottoms of the doors to help with them. It is working to a degree.

Pilothouse/RAM3500 build
Looking good. Did you have to give up pants to keep the tranny warm?

how much 2 stroke oil?
One ounce per gallon is all you need. It is 128 ounces of fuel to 1 ounce of 2 cycle. Being precise is not absolutely necessary. I know my fuel gauge pretty well and estimate what the tank will hold then estimate that out of the quart bottle I keep it in.

Crappy Mileage No Matter What Tune
That would be a question for @Me78569 or @Mopar1973Man or someone more knowledgeable of the Quad.

Crappy Mileage No Matter What Tune
I think you should swap the old ECM and PCM Like you suggested originally and just see what happens. Cant hurt anything and easy to do.

when it starts it cuts the injection 8 times and goes off
What year truck and how are you checking for codes? Any other info on the truck would help. The VP trucks are different from year to to year.

Crappy Mileage No Matter What Tune
Leading up to my vp failure I started seeing lower mileage. Not as low a mileage as I remember you seeing. With all the idling I do in the winter its kind of hard to say what I saw for a drop. I was getting down in the 17 mpg range from 19,5 on the highway best I could tell. I was also experiencing some hard starting, but worse than it seems you are. I did however find another issue with my exhaust brake. Mine is off the truck for now but the elbow with the damper is still installed. I had it wired open but the wire stated failing and had partially moved towards closing. Discovered this after the new VP but fixing did help with boost pressure and mileage I believe. Kind of hard to know for sure what was responsible for what since they were both happening at the same time.

Rocks dont have any crumple zones in them. I hope every one was ok. Looks like one helluva an impact.

Crappy Mileage No Matter What Tune
The original Bosch specs were for lower pressure. IIRC that was dealt with on later versions of the VP. I have run 18 to 20 psi I thru mine for 8 to 9 years now with no issues. I did just loose my VP but it had 270k miles on it. All but the 1st 20k at the 18 to 20 psi level.

Help Please
If you are running an OE TPS the voltage is on a sticker on the TPS. They vary from unit to unit. Get a Timbo apps and that is no longer an issue.

Oil change interval
If its 5% or less it does not have to be labled.

New Headlights for Big Blue
I put clear housings and LED's in mine that are working fine. I have the beam adjusted fairly low but they still reachout better than the halogens. The reflector in them is only wrapped around the sdes and back with nothing on the bottom. Thought that would help wit the glare is see from other ones. Seems to work but I want to try some different LED's in them to. The yeild sign is about 150' out and I have tweaked the aim on them from this picture.

Oil change interval
Not as a steady diet by any means but I hit mine with some STP evety so often for the added zinc. Never hurt anything in my other vehicles not sure it made much difference in the long haul though.

VP44 leaking fuel
The diagtam makes it look simple I would have to say. There is a spring in there so be careful of it shooting the internals out. Maybe the cover screws just need a bit snugging, dont know. Just my opinion, but I would not want to open it unless I had a spare $1000 laying around just in case. Be my luck I would need it.

I have had to do that. Just thought that part was normal.

Hey you guys I got to get rid of a skunk.....
I guess l have not experienced that myself.

You both get a gold star. The answer is what l thought but l had to ask.

Hey you guys I got to get rid of a skunk.....
I guess I dont know since l remeber this thread and where it ended back in October.

Oil change interval
Is it safe in the container before you put it in the engine for use? I guess I mean shelf life.
