  1. Got rid of the 02 tdi it was cool just needed so much work. Few years go buy and this one pops up for cheap 2.0gas. Had steering issues, over heating, fans weren't coming on. Was the relay under the dash. Still blowing coolant with fans running. Hmmmm Yanked the head off resurfaced and back together. Seems solid have a few miles on it. I kinda like these vw's. I'd like to try another tdi
  2. Transfer case in neutral?
  3. Yes still running 9 3 3 3. My best tune yet Lol yes. Normally I dont get on but have been noticing less smoke since I have. Were doing a tree job tomorrow christine and I. Seems I'm doing all the work getting saws ready and shes already sleeping. Haven't done a tree job in awhile, she needs the money. And I'm usually working anyways. So well do it Thought about laying the tree on the goosekneck but think it's to big. Well just put it in the dump truck and use the backhoe. That's off topick. I did see 1100 on some small grades pulling basically the empty trailer at 80 just under 2000 rpm running 900s on the flats. Boost never going over 20
  4. Light towing stop and go traffic smoke is bearable I'll blow prett good black puff the turbo is lit and shes only hazing. Truck still feels light on its feet No I did not and wont tow the backhoe. Its 17k machine have to dump truck for that. In the passed I used to tow it but it's just silly in my opion unless theres no option
  5. Lol. I've been doing -2-3000 a month
  6. My makita has more than most air tools I've been around to
  7. Knock on wood I've been lucky. This time of year I never wait to start. Just turn the key like a gasser. Always starts no matter what.
  8. I think if they're after market there standard 1.5 " bushing size. I cant find anything 2" in my quick search. These pictured might be 1.5" I cant quite tell where the tapes at
  9. Looks awesome. Can you run a 1/2" impact off that?
  10. A friend passed me on freeway the other day and called to say my trucks dog tracking. Said passenger front was sticking out 6"more than drivers side. I've never thought I got track bar adjusted perfect so I pulled it in. I'm getting 1/2" off is all. To the passenger side. I just moved it 1/2" to drivers side. A few years ago I got in and accident that ripped the axle off the leaf springs. Wondering if I didnt get the rear axle back to straight. I dunno Reset steering now tighten track bar. Possible that crown in the rd pulls front axle to right I was in the slow lane. Control arm bushings are poly but no way track bar allows it to pull anyways. Just thinking out loud.
  11. Do you plow big pking lots little lots rds in retirement neighbor hoods? Walmart? I'd probly tear into my valve body and do plow upgrades. Might consider having the option to lock the tourqe converter in second on long pushes. If your pushing 50ft I doubt youd even see 2nd gear. I honestly haven't pushed with a pickup. I run a case 580 with a 12ft pusher chained to bucket. Pushike mad then remove pusher and run around piling snow. Also have a wing I made for the skidsteer it's over all is 8ft and rolls the snow to the inside. Good luck and whatever you do probly count on building the 47re after the season if you push much. I'd be leaning on running in 4low if I used my truck. I can see the 4th gen steering causing bump steer but only on hard bumps that really cycle the suspension travel. I doubt the plow makes it any worse then with it. It's the motion up and down that causes bump steer when drag link and track bar arent parrel to eachother. When suspension cycles the track bar will make the steering drag link move with it. It has to give so it bumps through the . If tra track and drag link are parallel they swing in arc with eachother and cause no bump steer. A bracket to upgrade track bar will intensify this especially at factory ride height You could play with mounting drag link over or under the pitman arm to make track and drag as close to parallel as possible. But this would take reaming pitman arm and using a insert to allow the drag link to mount up or down. Good luck
  12. Actually found that if I get after it smoke clears fast as turbo comes on sooner Christine was with me and we jumped into traffic from a dead stop we both got pulled hard into the seats and I was pedalling off tire spin. Out of the corner of my eye I saw here being pulled into the seat. She goes holy **** I was grinning. I dont like the tires spinning just to heavy to high chance to brake something at 10k. Still have not towed my guess is itl be good. Haven't noticed any change in egts empty. Truck drives around feeling lighter on its feet. I never push hard enough for a down shift it always makes plenty of power in the gear to do what I need.
  13. I see grasshoppa it wasnt on a flatbed. You made a jeep out of it
  14. Bumping 310 sunday dont know how much shes got left. Been rolling about . Posting so I can track time/miles
  15. Those look like poly bushings. Does that bushing fit in 2" tube Looks like if it was 1.5" it would be easy to find bushings. 2" not so easy. I've been looking alittle and havent found any bushings to fit a 2" tube. https://www.barnes4wd.com/Poly-Bushings-and-Bushing-Kits_c_24.html I get stuff from barns on acasion. I'd call him to find the bushings I'd makes sure they arent 1.5" OD that would save you tons of money if they are https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F202738917587
  16. Did you end up just about maxing out castor adjustment.
  17. Not sure why drive line had to be pulled to drag truck on flatbed. 9mm is nothing special seem to be in my 1/4" sets. I pull drive lines all the time. Not saying snapons bad they're specialty stuff is good. I did try to find a truck to buy a poly drive socket to work on vw engine but was unsuccessful and ended up ordering an entire set for what one single snapon would cost. At sure at some point I'll break cheap stuff well I do all the time. I walk in and get a replacement same as snapon. At the shop it did kinda sux breaking the tool you use all the time and having to wait a week for the truck to get there then 2 weeks then ounce a month. I bought this set of poly drives off ebay. Harbor freight didnt have them. The set cost 25 free shipping and showed up at my house in 2 days. I spent 2 days being stubborn trying to track down a snapon truck. I see them when I dont need anything. In the 2 days th hey must have not been around. I to do like snapon ratchets but have never bought one. I have some gear wrench ratchets and old craftsman stuff a few also say NAPA them. I like tools alot they make me money and save me tons of money. If I was made of money I still would by cheap
  18. We might do alittle more wrenching than the normal forumn goers. As a kid I got sucked into the snapon fan boy stuff. I've literally broke them all lots replaced lots not replaced because I now have no luck tracking down trucks. One biggest waste of money I've ever done. I to run lots of harbor freight. I have a set of Pittsburg wrenches that feel damn good. I've cleaned the 1 1/8 1 1/4 to better fit between hydraulic lines. Even lacking alot of material the open end is holding up to my abuse. I've got some snapon and mac sockets but mostly Pittsburgh also full sets of torx mak and female and just orderd a set of poly drives to work on the vw engine. What I have would cost like 10 grand if all snapon. Snapon box was given to me by the owner of a shop I worked at. I'd never buy one.
  19. I have snapon mac Marco cornwell broken them all. I'm no longer working in a shop. So big names mean nothing chuck it in sage brush and roll on. I've chucked some snapon sit wtf out out there. I can buy 3 sets of cheap stuff and have spares I cant afford 1 snapon but I still did. Used to be competition you don't want be guy in shop who's tool box is full of craftsman and Pittsburgh tools. Now i wish i was huge waist of money
  20. Any meetings lately? I'd work for free if theres food
  21. How long if a job.? I think it took me two long evenings to do the timming belt and water pump I'd look to the ball being cracked where the vent line comes out. It's so in plain site I over looked it. It would only leak when head gasket put pressure in the system at an idle nothing. I got it cleaned up put about 50 miles on it with no issues well right up until the alternator quit charging. Grrrr so I just got done putting a alternator in it. I think its quicker than the tdi jetta we got rid of fun driving car. Kinda nice to cruise around in it instead of the truck. Still haven't got the ac pump to fire up. I did get fans working by replacing relay that's barrierd in the dash I was hoping that relay would kick the ac pump into gear to but I didnt get that lucky Coul possibly be the fan control module under battery fans dont turn on when ac is turned on. Gonna need struts and shocks at least 1 rotor is warped. Going to drive it for awhile and see what else happens. The damn alternator was kinda a huge blow as I didnt want to invest that much in it at least until it proves itself for awhile. Damn mirror
  22. Got it running. Had the timming off on the first shot. No leaks and running smooth
  23. I'm up late got the head resurfaced and back. Got the head on new head bolts full gasket kit put the timing gear and belt on and go **** the camb sensor. Take it apart. Then back together. Hoping to have it running tomorrow. Crystal was supposed to pick up spark plugs but didn't grrr. Head wasnt cracked and cylinder walls look very good all rings holding fluid . Finding it to be quite the puzzle going back together. Cant sleep.
