3rd gen track bar on a 2nd gen
Napa bar here just changed last night and what a difference!! Just got to straighten the wheel now. I suggest getting the Napa bar with the lifetime warranty and then if it fails which it likely will you get a new one for free!

Coolant leaks - Oil Cooler
Iv got what I think a front main seal going out that I need to fix. Leaking oil pretty bad and plastering the underside. Also my truck threw a crank sensor code today and started bucking so that’s next tomorrow. I might add that I put a new track bar in tonight and I started on the heater core. Oh and it got a new steering gear last week and running boards etc. the list goes on.

Where to buy front end parts?
So I was having a fair bit of steering slip so I replaced my steering gear with a Napa reman box. It is now 2 times worse. My front end is literally falling apart. I can barely keep the truck on the road. Dry parked the truck at the shop and I need new tie rods, tie rod ends, track bar, etc. I can’t afford anything to high end such as Synergy but I’m thinking maybe Napa parts? https://www.1aauto.com/2000-02-dodge-steering-and-suspension-kit/i/1asfk03897?f=1084240&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIicKHjd2h3gIVxR6GCh35qw-yEAQYBiABEgJgxfD_BwE Also found ths kit from 1A Auto. Seems earful cheap though. Likely trashy parts? Here is a list of the parts I believe I will need to rebuild front end. Please add anything to it that I’m missing or that I should include. Inner tie rod outer tie rod 2 tie rod ends track bar 2 sway arm links 2 upper ball joints 2 lower ball joints

Thanks that’s a great help! I have shifted this way before but obviously I haven’t gotten the rpm and road speed perfectly matched becuase with t resulted in a jerky shift.

No that’s how you destroy synchronizers. Maybe that’s what they meant by gear matching? @leety

How do you match gears when shifting? I have always just shifted when it felt right. I see some of you like to match gears when you shift. Do you somehow match speed and rpm? How?

What makes 24 valves sound different from each other?
F I wasn’t replacing my steering gear I would likely be buying Qaudzilla. I’m going to be installing a track bar bushing kit tonight and if that fixes my steering issue well then mebbe I’ll get a Qaud coming!

Best batteries for our trucks
Yep I learned the trick from you and it worked! Not only that but I used a couple squirts of WD-40! Now I just got to move my Fass power wire to the PDC.

I don’t have any issues either since I first cleaned them and oiled them.

Hankook ATm
My boss is giving me a set of 235/85/16 studded snow tires for the winter to mount on my old wheels. I’m thankful for that. It will save my current tires for summer and I’ll have better traction with the snow tires for winter.

Precautionary travel items.
Marcus2000monster replied to Marcus2000monster's topic in 2nd Generation Dodge Reliability / PerformanceAgreed Mike. Woodcutting yesterday in the mountains and had zero cell service. Satellite phone is the only option I believe.

Precautionary travel items.
Marcus2000monster replied to Marcus2000monster's topic in 2nd Generation Dodge Reliability / PerformanceI agree with you gentlemen. I plan to carry all of the above. I’m thinking maybe a spare Carter fuel pump, serpentine belt, and I always carry extra engine oil. Also have a Haynes repair manual.

Marcus2000monster replied to Marcus2000monster's topic in 2nd Generation Dodge Reliability / PerformanceThanks man! Don’t you carry a spare chicken in case you get hungry? Lol. I have a serpentine belt on my list along with a small toolset including a 3/4 end wrench for cracking injectors in case I run out of fuel.

Precautionary travel items.
I’m looking for a list of items to keep in my truck on long trips and trips into remote backcountry. I can think of a few things off my head but like a detailed list of things that can keep my truck on the road if necessary.
