  1. Sheesh i think you were warmer than i was yesterday in the northeast. I cant find anything definitive on the dragon flow or lightning 2 (scheids version of an equivalent high-performance vp44) adding timing. Hot rod vp44s however all add timing.. Might be worth a shot.. @dieselautopower, is there anything you can tell us about timing with these pumps? Proprietary info im sure for specifics but any info is welcome..
  2. I don't hear a knock or ping personally, if I'm honest it sounds like my truck when its cold.. i thought it was just the timing of the engine being cold.. could be that depending on when the video was taken.. Also remember you have a cam, probably a Hamilton 188/220. It flows quite a bit of air, same with the turbo. Only caveat is the lugging.. that puzzles me.. Same with the fuel tank smoke.. does it smell like fuel only or something else? How warm is the fuel vs whats outside? Was the video taken ice cold or after a long time driving? Just for shiggles and gits, are you making forbidden chocolate milkshake or do you have more oil than you put in? Fingers crossed for neither of those, both are worst case scenario..
  3. Someone many years ago had a Duramax with compressed natural gas, I think, in the diesel power challenge. Got 43 mpg if I'm remembering correctly.. I'm sure the hydrogen could be pumped in to the intake similarly. Just make sure the intake heaters are off when running hydrogen, don't need anyone doing a Hindenburg re-enactment.
  4. @LorenS, you aren't wrong about my statement. I still need to mull over how to properly do something like that. Not even half baked idea, havent put it in the oven yet lol. Even though my job is 2 or 3 levels above in the supply chain, depending on the mandates and how they are worded depends on whether i have a job come January (still at my drafting job from my sanity check thread).. @JAG1 ummm...
  5. Yes it does.. What happened when you pulled cruise timing out? More power? smoother power? Tbh the 0 cruise was actually for @YeaImDylan, but if it helps you figure out the timing for your truck then thats good
  6. The segment you want is whatever you pick or want to focus on. I have made the 10,000 row graph. Its a mess but interesting depending on your use for it.
  7. @Mopar1973Man, its not just lubricty that causes issues. Its contamination and aeration.. And I think 2 stroke will plug a dpf..
  8. Hard part is the timing displayed is ecu commanded not vp44 position. It has no idea (more or less) that theres modifications to the pump. So even though the ecu commanding say 15*, if there is 3* of advance built into the timing rotor, its firing at 18* not 15*..
  9. I think @Me78569 had made an article already about making the graphs. I cant seem to find it in the quadzilla section, or I looked too fast.. It was Excel specific though. Google sheets is a bit different. its not hard but there is a learning curve. post a copy of your csv file and I'll see what I can whip up
  10. @JAG1, I have a copy of a $15,000 repair order for a 5th gen due to fuel contamination. This was a true contamination issue however, the fuel had a clear gel in every filter and the tank. It costs so much because the entire fuel system has to be replaced due to how the fuel runs through the cp4. It comes in the bottom for the cam for lubrication, then goes into the pistons for pressurization, then out to the injectors. There is no key way for the pistons to stay straight in their bores so if one catches and turns, it's metal on metal grinding away going right into your fuel rail, injectors, and returned to the tank, then into your filters.. its a poor system.
  11. Used to have my favorite places for parts.. Either I got to know the people there or at one point my friend work at an advance auto. Sadly, that was a few years ago and most people have since moved on. I don't generally get wrong parts, mostly I've gotten a few parts that were DOA (dead on arrival).
  12. oh yeah its just a full screen of numbers and time stamps. I don't remember how long it can record for but I think its 4 hours of run time. when you see the graphs from @Me78569 or myself, we had to make those in excel. the quad doesn't output a graph for us. you can remove every time stamp column if you want to just get the info trimmed down to the good stuff. try to limit to a max of 100-120 rows for the graph.. any more and it gets messy.
  13. unfortunately no, same issue with @Stanley's dragon flow.. there should be grounds to the passenger battery, and new and old batteries aren't good mixed, old battery will tend to shorten the life of the new battery. cost a bit more is right, almost $400 where I live for the pair at my local advance auto. idle. anything below 7 is eh. below 5 is start saving, below 3 they are shot, if its 0 your idle should be starting to rise.. replace them asap. rough guidelines, if you have custom pop pressures that throws this off slightly too.
  14. The cp4 issue is actually under investigation by either the NHTSA or something similar (NTSB?) because of accidents and safely issues associated with the pump going out. Most people want Ram to retrofit the CPISB21(cp3) pump that 2021 and up trucks have but its a front cover and programming change as well as pump.
  15. @YeaImDylan, no his truck shouldn't sound like that. How old are your injectors? and whos hotrod vp44? the warm rough starts lean towards vp44. what is the engine load on the Quadzilla? @Stanley, has DAP told you what killed the injectors or what was wrong with them? Before doing all that, try removing all cruise timing and then do the neutral rev. Really high timing adds a stumble to the motor with no load. Have to run it that way (no cruise timing) for launching at sled pulls.
  16. You have to upload the data log to drive first then save then you can open it. Google sheets has no problem opening csv files. When you hit export under datalog in quadzilla, you should get a small window popup from the bottom of the screen, select google drive. Wait for the upload then go to google drive and in the main area you should have an iQuad-year-month-day-time then gobbly ****.csv Looks like this: iQuad-2020-08-23-04.38.339126138237330930548.csv Open with google sheets and go from there. I use it because its the easiest option for me and easiest to make graphs with across devices.. dont have excel at home(laptop) or on my phone.. Sucks on the fiber being all of a mile away.. used to get no cell signal at my house from anyone but at&t for many years (only about 5 years ago did verizon get put in), so i understand the feeling..
  17. If you have a gmail account, you can make a google drive account, should be able to upload to that then post a copy on here. Are you that remote? When was the last time you looked? You could look into Starlink.. satellite internet provided by Elon Musk.. dont know how far the roll out is though.. Sorry younger mind (pushy on the internet) and my new england home sometimes makes me forget that some places are miles between houses not just town centers..
  18. Forums are a double edged sword, both extremely helpful but also act as an echo chamber. If you go on hdrams forums there are a bunch of people who are very very bent out of shape about the cp4 and want Ram to fix it, especially with the redesigned pump that Turbo Terry's truck has.. Its a bit toxic in large doses.. my point is forums also create a vocal minority, and they can blow small things out of proportion.. Second gens are the best looking truck in my opinion (sport editions are my favorite overall), followed by the 4th gens (projector headlights especially).
  19. 6 holes for power, 7 for a bit better drive quality. I know you have the raport with Mitchell, but might be worth a second opinion.. or a 3rd. (Anonymity be damned, its weird seeing my name [Mitchell] not in reference towards me) Upload the vids to YouTube then find the share button and copy the link. You might have run out of the max total size, look in the bottom corner of the post box below add files. @Mopar1973Man, is the upload size a cumulative thing? Meaning never resets over the life of a members' account?
  20. Smoke will come with wire tap trust me lol. Lets get injectors figured out first then go from there
  21. How does the truck feel? Any better with 20% more fuel?
  22. There is a chance that the inner cable itself is just that hair too long. Im gonna double check the door panel i have and see if theres anything to adjust
  23. By specific class he probably means he didn't build it for the rules of that class. A 64mm turbo is a bit of an odd duck.. It's not large enough to be really competitive in a 2.6 class but work stock is usually limited to/lumped in with a 2.5 class, and the 64 is too big. 2.5 class is a 63mm turbo 2.6 class is a 66mm turbo. Of course this all depends on the rules of the places he was going as to what was allowed... Most likely you or gonna have to drag your timing down. Like really low. The way I think they add timing is a new or modified timing ring. Essentially it acts similar to advancing or retarding a camshaft. Industrial Injection moves the locating pin(s) on the ring for the timing piston, the computer cant detect it so its none the wiser. The only other way would be to change the Bosch parameters in the computer when they get calibrated (not likely). Start out with -2° (from current) and see what happens. Popping and sputtering (usually high rpm), pull some more timing. I've heard a Cummins go down our track at 3600 rpm with a regular Quad, had a Scheid lightning 2 pump. Similar in size to yours. He was having issue with popping going down the track. Asked him about it later, he said too much advance was one of his problems. It sounded like the anti lag/2-step stuff that shoots flames from import tail pipes to spool turbos.
  24. Just mulling over @Stanley's combo on the truck.. do you have any issue spooling the turbo either before or after the injectors/quad? I think his setup is slightly more efficient and can toss more fuel at it before it smokes. For the average person a cam isn't needed but if the previous owner was putting the money into the truck for sled pulling, there might have been some head work done and that is what really helps a cam shine with a Cummins is head work. The cams have been known to drop spool up time by quite a bit for larger turbos. The other thing is with the higher pressures he might be getting a finer mist from the injectors making a better burn.. the other thing is his turbo is larger on all fronts so its gonna take some time to spool but it also moves some serious air, 80-90lbs/min if I remember the DAP website correctly. I mean you could start at like 115 then ramp up to see if it smokes like the old tuner... all of this is just word vomit of my thoughts.. most of it is speculation
