Low Boost After Boost Elbow Install
I have no experience with a smarty besides what I've read, but does smarty do any boost fooling? It kinda sounds like factory defuel.. part of me wants to say clamp the wastegate hose.. and force the wastegate to stay shut. Weak wastegate spring is coming to mind, as well as a poor sealing boost elbow..

Hard to match patriot blue in powder coat I think.. Was also considering ceramic coating the turbine housing and down pipe.. Might have to wait on all that though Oh trust me I'm excited right now.. I'm just trying to balance cleaning my house for company this Saturday and getting my truck back on the road. That math isn't looking great, might take time off to do some of it..

Olympics
65-80 mph like this - It should be on tv.. dont know when. That is a photo of my friend. His name is Austin Florian. His helmet is based on Venom from Marvel. If i remember correctly, thats one of the only things you can personalize of the team uniform.

Olympics
Only reason I would watch is because I have a coworker/friend who left the company I work at to go be a skeleton luge athlete for Team USA. But I just looked and he didn't get to go this year. Otherwise the only way I know its the Olympics is because of all the ads and what not.. Refresher, skeleton luge is the head first on your belly down the bobsled track race..

Winter weather - What do you see where your at?
@Doubletrouble and I, I think are in the same storm system. Only difference is its been between 40 and 50 that last 2 days where I am with rain. Today though we are getting the cold air behind the storm. It was 50 this morning and they are saying its supposed to drop to the teens tonight. there were already places that across one town is a 10+ degree difference in temps. and some of them are larger. and most that drop happened over the span of 10 mins..

Mattracks.. just don't look at the price. truck ones last i looked which was well before covid was like 10 grand for the set. Just looked.. its 10 grand each track (fully optioned), so 40k per vehicle for a 2500 size truck. They have tracks that will outfit a boom truck for power line work and farm tractors so I can only guess how much those are..

Low Boost After Boost Elbow Install
1st photo I definitely see a wastegate that wasn't sealing. Besides the marks on the gate itself, there are striations in the soot from high pressure being blown across it. 2nd photo I don't see anything, besides a reminder of how small to manifold ports are.. 3rd photo now things are getting interesting.. there is a lot of oil residue in the map ring. Also the shiny ring that @wil440 saw I think is the light illuminating the actual map groove. Were you running a K&N type (oiled) air filter ever? 4th photo is also interesting, the left and bottom side of the turbo has a damp look to the soot, but I'm also surprised that its by the wastegate hole. I'm gonna go with @Mopar1973Man on this one, turbo needs a rebuild..

Surging while driving
@Max Tune, until you get the quad in your hand and actually mess with it, all of this can be confusing lol. I think the best way to think of the level system is more like "how many times do you want to press a button to get full wire tap?" @Mopar1973Man, IDK whether it is the EPA and their BS or if its the factory programming in general, but my 2019, unless I put it into tow/haul mode, wants to be in as high a damn gear as possible... I'm cruising at 35-40 mph in 6th and lock up.. RPMs are at like 900 or so.. and it doesn't always downshift certain corners so in order to get moving I have to nearly bury the throttle to get it to downshift. 20-25 mph gets locked into 4th and again it doesn't like to leave it if I need to accelerate.. 68rfe gear ratios 1st 3.23:1 2nd 1.83:1 3rd 1.41:1 4th 1.00:1 5th 0.81:1 6th 0.62:1 I mostly brought this up to say I think the cruise efficiency rpms might have been lowered for the newer trucks.. granted apples to oranges though too.. My 2019 truck is factory 275-70r18 and 3.55 gears.. 65 mph I'm running only 1500-ish rpms.. to get to 2000 rpm is at or over 80 mph.. (i think its been a while since i paid attention to the rpms while on the highway (freeway? What ever is 65+mph lol)

His signature says 3.55s and 35s.. Computer freaking out on lock up? Also friendly reminder that above lvl 3 on a quad, every level is a division of 100% wire tap. For instance, i have a total of 5 levels. Lvl 4 is 50% wire tap, lvl 5 is 100%. I did that so i didnt have to tap a billion times to get to full wire tap. Having the full 9 (10?) levels just means each level above 3 is only makes the additional percentages smaller..

Whelp that was a lot of money. $2650 to @dieselautopower for a turbo, injectors, valve springs, and push rods. Went with 62/68/14 on the turbo. 7x.011 injectors popped at 320 bar to try to keep the wear in from dropping the pop pressure too much.. Ø3/8 x .093 push rods 110# valve springs Also got a new addition to my fleet.. a 99 ram 1500 SCSB 4x4 with a 5.2 and a 5 speed. Truck was/is a bit of a basket case that I'm trying to straighten out. My brother was the one to buy it originally, he got it for $600. truck supposedly needed a throw out bearing. He bought it as a parts truck then took the led tail lights out and a hood hinge for his Cummins (his broke). Then the truck sat for a year-ish before I got to it. Traded a Milwaukee m18 impact and some of my time to help him with his Cummins. So I've been getting this truck back to drivable condition for the past couple months. Main reason I got it was because I'm looking at a career change and I need to sell my new truck in order to facilitate that going smoothly. That and I need to get rid of that payment. I'm living paycheck to paycheck right now because of it. Then on top of all this, a couple weekends ago, a guy from a few towns over who apparently drives by on my road often sees all of my family's trucks and came up and offered a Texas 98.5 ram 2500 Cummins ECLB, Automatic, with 320-350,000 mile on the chassis and body, but the engine and trans are only 25k old. Apparently the previous engine sucked a valve or something, he made it seem like the valve lash got too excessive and a valve dropped.. I don't know. The engine was rebuilt and had the usual mild upgrades done.. It's got a hotrod vp44, larger injectors, larger turbo, banks tuner (), the trans was given a billet overhaul (maybe not an intermediate shaft..), supposedly the suspension has been gone through as well, he said moog parts so that might be a mixed bag in regards to longevity.. He said he wants $14,500 for it, like bottom dollar. He doesn't need to get rid of it so I'm guessing that number is not moving at all. I'm considering it as a tow vehicle for my Blue Truck to sled pulls.. But that leaves me with what to do about having 3 trucks.. I can get around the taxes in CT with a Classic Vehicle plate, but 3 vehicles might be a bit much.. IDK, all I know is I have to sell my new truck before I can consider that truck.. Oh boy.. lots to think about.. lots to do and little time to do it..

Winter weather - What do you see where your at?
Update from our storm this past Saturday.. my town got about 13 inches, but some towns in eastern Mass got 30 inches.. Combined with the winds there were supposedly 10 foot snow drifts in places.. Then this week we might warm up to almost 50 but get 1-2 inches of rain with it. that rain is going nowhere. We've had too many days below 25°F before the storm and saw two of our coldest nights of the year at 0°F and 4°F since Saturday.. @Max Tune I wonder if that storm is the one that's hitting us on Friday.. or going to be part of at least..

Dreaded P0216 code, help/advice
Bit of all of the above.. The factory lift pumps as far as i know, do not have a check valve to bypass a failed pump. So the internal vane pump of the vp44 would have to try to pull through another pump.. not good. Bosch started to beef up the vp44 for the galling and what not. Think it was brass that Mopar1973Man said earlier.. then got sleeved with hardened steel. From what he also described, the timing piston is a hardened tool steel, probably around Rc 60-65. Think as hard as a file.. @Great work! has good points as well in regards to the fuel pump as well. @Great work! is the factory pump a vane pump? I heard that it was a diaphragm pump a long time ago but then heard that that was false..

Credit Card Smoking
To take full advantage of the quad, you should go with a full quadzilla, not just the xzt.. To get the same effect as the xzt just leave it in level 3. But you would have all the benefits of custom tuning.

@Mopar1973Man, what is your boost at in regards to the screenshot? I'm asking because I think I made my own version of your zero boost tune.. Wondering how much of that if any went into your current tune(s). @jlwelding, just placed my order today with DAP for parts to roughly the same amount as you lol.. so yeah, my card is smoking today too..

Reve X Distance plus
"u" is the standard alphabet way of saying mu (pronounced mew) Proper form is "µ" (alt + 230 if you want to type it on a keyboard) In the common rail world and slightly in the vp44 world, its said as "u.s." (as in U.S.A.) and in reference to microseconds. (this much of a second: 0.000001). said when talking about duration for common rails and wire tap with the Quadzilla. 1 Micron is one millionth of a meter or 0.000039 of an inch. Our 2 micron and 3 micron filters could be used to theoretically filter bacteria and blood. Sorry tangent.. um is a way of abbreviating micron, yes. Properly done it should be µm, but idk if mobile devices can put the "µ" in from the symbol keyboard. (I'm on desktop right now..) @LorenS you posted just as I hit post.. think we both got all the bases covered

As long as its prepped right I don't think its an issue, but I'm not sure. I've never had JB Weld on pressure systems..

need help deciding on a turbo
Better late than never, but due to my turbo bearings going south, I finally made my decision on a turbo. My options were a 62/68/14, a 63/68/14 and a 63/73(74?)/12. I chose the 62/68/14 based on my current take off technique while sled pulling. Needed to be fast spooling because I'm still running an organic dual disc clutch and don't want to roast it doing the long release like most do (sintered iron clutches can take a lot of heat..) I rev to about 2200 and more or less do a controlled clutch dump.. its slower than a side step but faster than a normal take off.. rpms drop to about 1800-2000 depending on what we are pulling on, then throttle to boards and go from there. I also chose it because I'm still driving the truck as a semi daily (at least before the turbo decided it was starting to have enough). Also getting valve springs, push rods, and 7x.011 (320 bar) injectors. Thank you to @dieselautopower for all your help. With any luck I'll be able to add a few more trophies to the collection.
