  1. The cam cleans up a lot, gotta remember that. It also moves your power band up.. My truck likes a lot of timing retard to get moving.. im down at 11 in the 1500 range. And i run 5 low timing at 100% for scaling. Then i go up by 4.5 each slider. But i have an ho pump.. try starting at 13 then go up 4.5?
  2. Gears/tires are hurting you.. so theres only so much you can do. But try 5 in low psi timing reduct And even skips for fueling, not +1, +1, +1, +3, +5, +4, +1.. Im working with 0-10ish as my flat spot (90%) instead of up in the boost band.. Just driving around i rarely get above 15 psi just driving normal. But im on the opposite side as you with 4.10s and undersized tires for the gears.
  3. On topic, hy35 is a 2001-2002 auto thing. @Andyba20, can you post a photo of your turbo? i have a theory but i need to see what down pipe flange you have. Turbo labs of America has a .83 undivided non wastegated turbine housing. But it has a weird flange, smaller than an hx40 but same kind of flange. The undivided with an approximately 14cm^2 housing is a laggy SOB.. and wouldnt spool well.. He351cw and vgt get away with it because they have a 9cm^2 housing (He351cw) or variable geometry..
  4. I'm starting to see why Weston is so guarded. It also feels like a lot of pick something out of all of the options, see what they come close to, and build off of that for an injector business model. Holy sh!t.. I guess the only questions I have left are in regards to the high rpm/high boost hole size.. What is considered high in both of those? Seeing as I want to do a quad 4k eventually, is 4000-4500 rpm worth bringing that (high rpm) into consideration? What about 50-60 psi of boost? (I'm bs'ing the numbers, no data of course). CompD it feels like, if you are in the sled pulling section, if you aren't in the 5-6k rpm range and like 80+ psi, they give a cold shoulder kind of feel.. But they are one of the better places to get sled pulling info/experiences. I think I'm trying to see where to set the bar on helpful vs excessive for upgrades as well. I can say this much, no multi/top feeds, most likely no large feeds. For anything else, I really need to know the turbo I'm working with..
  5. Any faster and we are gonna need next gen equipment just to view the site.. For real though, its impressive how fast this site loads.. try going to cummins forum and its slow as hell. CompD is slow but not as slow mostly because they are running a very old layout that is simple, no animations or anything. But the UI sucks to use.. Thank you @Mopar1973Man for everything you have done and are doing for our little community on here
  6. What are your thoughts on the questions from my previous post? Trying to learn so i have at least a bit of an idea on what to ask for
  7. close enough lol. Heard issues with stainless lines but that was on p24v trucks i think. Lines would break from vibrations i think.
  8. What are you seeing for egts? how big is the housing compared to a normal hx35w https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forums/performance-accessories-2nd-gen-only-91/hy35-vs-hx35-pics-253869/page2/ You might have a modded turbine housing to be like a first gen Cummins.. I think the h1c had something like a 16 or 21cm^2 non gated turbine housing..
  9. Sorry for the delay.. Going to an s300/small frame charger. Need to wait for my pulling club to meet to look over or change our rules. You mentioned the 63mm is a high altitude oriented turbo in one of my other threads.. can you expand on that? I'm assuming that injectors are dictated from the turbo so i need that before making a decision on injectors... Thinking about it im gonna go with an so pump when my current one really gets unable to fuel high enough.. still rocking an ho pump for now. My questions i guess to start.. Is there that much difference between sac and vco nozzles? Ive seen anything from sac causing loping issues, sac makes more power until a certain point, vco is quieter, vco is less smoky.. not sure what to think anymore. Higher hole count benefits? The high/low or dual plane nozzle, i think ive seen this as a competition only nozzle with like 12 huge holes stacked on top of each other (2 sets of 6).. what are the benefits in a smaller hole size? Any benefit to changing the spray angle? Lift, stroke, and pintle mods, are there benefits at lower size injectors? I know weston (infinte performance) says one of those is useless i think its lift.. not sure.. hes also not very forthcoming with info why.. Benefits of extrude honing? Im assuming your nozzles are edm'd to start with so im guessing its to clean up edges. Thank you in advance for helping me. Its appreciated.
  10. Rock Auto should carry the AC Delco stuff and possibly cheaper than parts stores.. Fixing my moms 96 ram 1500 was over 150 dollars cheaper even with shipping than napa (water pump (new), alternator(new), idler pulley, and tensioner).
  11. What else do you have done to the truck? A cam can increase spool up with a bigger turbo, clean up smoke quick @Stanley is having a similar issue and his was a bad vp44. Timing piston got stuck on him.
  12. 17-20-23-26-30 is pretty far advanced.. try starting at 13 then add 4.5 to each.. Then go to like 5* for cruise or whatever your truck likes
  13. Does it just not go or is there other noise associated with the hesitation? Whats your quad tune?
  14. Did some digging, bigger lines and tubes can cause an aggressive lope and stalling with a normal vp44. You can use just the larger connector tubes with no issue, to the point that one person saw a 5hp increase with them vs stock.. but i dont think its worth 5 hp, 10 is the general number to feel a difference on the butt dyno.. but even then they are inaccurate and impossible to calibrate..
  15. Goal is a work stock sled puller that i can still drive on the street. I dont really have a hp goal. I know thats not a good thing in this realm.. if i had to put a number range, 5-600hp but im not dead set on that.. I guess im also at a point of i dont fully know what to ask for.. sac vs vco, hole count, spray angle.. its hard to pin down what to ask for with 7+ year old information, or really nebulous info (spray angle.. finding out what to ask for in a competition setting [when you can specify what you want] is hazy.. or i havent looked hard enough). I also dont know whether to stepping stone up in stages or set up for the final build.. Final build idea is a quad 4k and a 64 or 66mm turbo (probably stick with going to a 64.5/68/12), still be able to drive on the street occasionally (spare vehicle type status), planning on a fully ported head from D&J, steed speed exhaust manifold, SO or Scheid lightning 2 vp44 (only when my current vp44 goes though, and probably only the SO pump).. Dream build is a cgi block 6.7 vp44 cummins built up similar but thats gonna be a while for that to come to fruition.. i know daily driving and sled pulling are kind of on opposite sides of the spectrum, but thats my reasoning for the turbo size. Plus i think in my turbo thread you said the 63 is a more high altitude turbo, im at sea level to maybe 1500 ft of elevation max for what tracks i go to.. I got 3rd place for the year in my club with your 50s, a quad, hx35, no traction bars or suspension stops, and not decent tires.. blew my mind when i got that lol.. also an idea of what hp range my area is at.. Hope some of this info helps,. What do you mean by high low spray? 2 different spray angles?
  16. Random question and trying to gather info. Is it possible to get a set of injectors custom made? Like take a set of your 8x.009 (125hp)injectors and get a set made larger like 8x.0105 or 8x.011? Also is there any benefit to having multiple sized holes on one injector like 4x.012 and 4x.008 (just random numbers)? Get the benefit of finer spray with the smaller nozzles, and penetration of a larger holes for boost and rpm.. Or im off base and its a worst of both worlds.. im not sure, thats why im asking lol My Thought is the faster ignition of the finer spray would help ignite the larger streams for a more complete burn.. and the larger streams would have the piercing power to overcome rpm or high boost
  17. 6-700hp is what stocks are generally good for.. possibly more. Hell the factory cam and intake horn have done the same if not more.. not saying its the most efficient, or absolute best power, but they aren't as big a hindrance as one would think..
  18. Gonna want to sell those and get standard sized stuff if you step down to an SO pump.. retards the timing, and might screw with the idle more than what you currently have
  19. Large majority of people who swap an SO pump on don't have codes or issues.. odds are you shouldnt have a problem, but theres a chance..
  20. Essentially the difference you will feel between the SO pumps (ETC) and HO pumps (ETH) is where the power band is.. HO trucks are lower in the rpm range vs an SO pump. Since you have only had the dragon flow, im gonna guess either pump is gonna feel lower powered than what you had. But for what you have, go with an SO pump, its better suited to the upgrades you already have. Core might be an issue though..
  21. Ooof, sorry for that news @Stanley. Quad only retains the max value without the exported data log. So all it means is that in the last 4hrs of logging (i think) you hit max commanded fueling. And yes its possible that for the timing to cause the sounds. Winner winner chicken dinner, huh? Bit of PUBG in the spare time?
  22. You arent wrong about historical but its less coins and more live ammo/grenades washing up on one of our beaches from long island sound..
  23. I think im the only one that has had an issue with dap injectors and even then its not too big a deal. My 50s (7x.0085 I think) smoke a bit much at factory fuel with the quad.. Might be nozzle angle or something like that. Havent had time or the spare vehicle to pull them yet. Plus im planning on going bigger..
  24. Connecticut is an odd mix of what feels like a smattering of everything. Im not so remote that wal mart is 2.5 hrs away but its still 3 towns over/20 minutes away. Same with a grocery store.. only one in town closed down suddenly because the owner decided to up and ditch everything without telling anyone.. employees showed up to locked doors and unanswered phone calls. We have our cities (bridgeport, new haven, hartford) then literally a half hour away from some of those cities it turns into state forest woods or farm land. But CT is also filled with the coastline rich folk that can afford the $1-2 million mansions.. its an interesting mix with ~an hour from border to border. Hard part of my town is the historical aspect.. we have houses from the late 16-early 1700s.. Whole point is i guess i get the yuppies who go into the woods and say i live in the sticks vs people like Mike that are 2.5 hrs from large (any?) civilization..
  25. @jag, im with @Mopar1973Man, thats a lot of advance with an already advanced pump.. but if its working, then have at it.. I'm curious if pulling some timing back would allow you to add some of the cruise but you seemed to have already experimented and have found the happy spot for your truck.. I'm just surprised its so far advanced
