Mopar1973Man's Crankcase Vent Modification
True, as long as they are insulated you should be fine, I just worry about such things. I hate rust.

Mopar1973Man's Crankcase Vent Modification
PVC is better than copper. I don't like open exposed copper on a vechicle, you will get corrosion due to the galvanic reaction. I cite the Statue of Liberty with its iron frame and copper sheathing. The insulation between the iron and copper degraded and the copper, iron, and salt/moisture basically created a battery which destroyed the iron frame in short order.

Mopar1973Man's Crankcase Vent Modification
I don't have photos, but I did a similar mod to Mikes, with 3/4 heater hose, and it seems to be working. It's routed higher than the valve cover and runs down the drivers wheel well to remain clear of the fan.

Pulled this lastnight
Cool pix and video 98... I don't have the guts to pull with my truck, though it might be fun. I need to take the Mrs. to a tractor/truck pull this year.

What mods/maintenance do you guys have planned in the future?
ISX. If only you were closer, man. I have a weekend of wrenching, shooting, and (hopefully, if the wimminz are in line!) eating ahead of me after I fight my way through the mess Friday. Besides, it belongs in a museum.

As a guy who has been around 64-74 mopars since the late 90s... Cancer is awful. I need to go on a POR-15 patrol of the truck soon. That stuff is GREAT! - - - Updated - - - Yeah, but your truck is perfect, Mike. I doubt there are many machines outside of aviation that see as much love and care as you put into your rig. If the guys I work with put 10% as much care into the wireline units we use to make a living... I would be a happy man! But instead, we have guys who literally aren't smart enough to put pants or gloves on when they chain up!:banghead:

My current list of truck to-dos. [*]Sell manual towing mirrors (will be on here soon if local buyer keeps flaking...) [*]Install power heated towing mirrors [*]replace remaining glowshifts with the gauges from my 2000 i sold [*]crankcase vent mod and clean radiator [*]new BHAF (possibly with some bracketry) [*]complete lube change & band adjustment [*]install sport headlights [*]re route wiring under hood & dash for Edge Comp or remove completely as the smarty does pretty well for my driving style. [*]fab 3rd gen trackbar bracket and install [*]fix broken cupholder hinge assembly with something strong [*]Fix short in A/C compressor clutch [*]fix broken OEM overhead light switch with radioshack switch [*]install on tonneau cover [*]remove limo tint [*]dream items: [*]pull head, do simple port and polish of intake, head, and exhaust [*]install studs [*]repaint to fix sun spots and nicks [*]build aluminum bumper... someday. Then install sport grille.

How Many Are Running The Fluid Damper?
All our engines are internally balanced right?

For ISX and the 12V crowd...
I saw one... it existed. Dodge made a couple true four doors for their shows. I saw it at the National Western Stock Show back in the late 90s. It was a long bed 2wd 4 door with a wild custom show paint job on it. It was parked out back of the National Western and I think that they used it for the show in some way. I would love to know what happened to that thing.

For ISX and the 12V crowd...
My dad, much like AH64, considers the 05-07 5.9L to be the perfect truck. I like the 02, aside from the lack of 4 true doors. As for the new technology Mike... I wouldn't personally be surprised if these things remain valuable and are rebuilt like the muscle cars of your youth unless the EPA pulls their head out of their nether region. In industry, I just don't see it. The only real option given the current regs in my opinion is natural gas turbocharged spark ignition engines or a natural gas/diesel engine. Which could be cool, but it won't be nearly as cheap as the diesel designs that we see today.

Ah, but its good to have museum pieces out and about sometimes. To let the young know how you old guys had it, back in the day. Such pastimes like setting the timing, adjusting an idle, and walking 3 miles uphill to school both ways... while barefoot... in the snow... while fighting off injuns. The toils of Those Who Went Before should not be forgotten, but remembered with respect.

After reading some of Billavista's recovery bible on Pirate, I have been very hesitant to put a winch on anything over 4000 lbs. The load required to pull a fully mired truck out can be huge, and well beyond even a huge 12,000 lb winch. Recovery hooks are good but I am not sure about a winch, and even then, I pull as gentle as possible when pulling on the hooks. Even the Army kinda got away from putting winches on the Deuces, even though those winches were MASSIVE. Not sure if that was cost or safety driven though.

2013 Ford diesel accidentally put gas instead of diesel......
Well... Ford runs some tight tolerances on their engines and has some light oil. But, it won't hurt to purge everything and start it and hopefully it will be fine.

what causes wait to start light delay
Mike, by delay you mean for the light to illuminate or extinguish? I always thought that when it was colder, it took longer due to the heater grid staying on longer than in warm weather and it being linked to the IAT probe like Russ was saying. I R Confused.

ABS sensor
The differences between the 98.5-99,00, and 01-02 are subltle, but key. Some day we need to get a few trucks together, a couple cases of beer and a bbq and document them.

anybody fab an aluminum bumper?
Well, it hasn't been built yet, but I am hoping to make it a summer project. The band saw should be operational soon and the tig welder just got the rest of the equipment to get rolling. I haven't worked with aluminum a whole lot, but here is my biggest project to date. I did 90% of the welding, and probably 50% of the coping. 4130 very thin wall tube, .091 was the thickest, and did some aluminum for it. I am sure I can figure it out though and want to be able to do Al with the welder. I can't say I am a great welder, but I used to be pretty good a few years ago and I am sure I can pick it back up. jig for our front spindles The welder I have currently... AirCo (same as Miller DialArc 250) it's an old solid state non circuitboard TIG. Not as nice as a new square wave, but very reliable and very smooth. Plus, it has high and low range, with a gear shift! Thanks for the input on that... Depending on the price of the Aluminum plate, I may still go steel. However, I think I can design a system that will be rugged enough for my use. I do understand that Steel is always more better if weight is not an issue. Mainly, I just want to try making one in Aluminum. I want to be able to make the old miller TIG do the stack of dimes that I can make it do with steel. Kind of a personal challenge, so to speak. It would also look great with my two tone blue/silver 2nd gen.

anybody fab an aluminum bumper?
This is my new project. I've got the tig, the cutting tools, sander, etc... I found the basic steel design photos but was wondering if anybody had any input. I was also thinking if I made one I might as well make two. Whats a fair price for a good aluminum bumper?

From my klutzy fingers, another bone-head move...
Man, that sucks. I am on the road alone a lot... and usually keep a spare key in a pocket most of the time.
