  1. Your welcome bud..... and you know... them dang things seem to know when my old CO2 gun goes out. Here they all start drilling, then soon as I come home with a new 15 shot they're gone for months.
  2. Yep I'm in Oregon all right, but the only peckers we got is wood type peckers. Dang things... why they try drilling the comp roof is beyond me. They seem to know when I get a new bb gun too and stay away.
  3. Shooting from the hip here.... I like to think its from a general deterioration in grounding and electrical system connections. The biggest draws, like the grids, are the squeakiest wheel so that gets the most attention. Look at the deterioration of the alternator grounding. A poor connection tends to accelerate toward an electrolytic deterioration where you see the white powder or corrosion. Often only visible when the connection is opened. Anyway I'm not Destry so hip shooting is only just that.....'.may hit may not'.
  4. Why can't the guys that know so much, at least once in awhile, pretend like they are learning from the guys in the corner?
  5. Make sure its grounded properly thru the bracket mount and bolt. Often found to have resistance on the OHM meter, you have to clean off the bracket mount surface and bolting hardware. Good grounding reduces AC ripple. Thanks to W-T for sharing this one
  6. lol... better drill more holes in the basket.
  7. JAG1 commented on Mopar1973Man's Cummins article in Electrical
    That's exactly the reasons
  8. Maybe I'm not reading it right......Are you sure you want that for a lift pump and big line kit?
  9. The only 90s I see needed are two.... one on top of tank module and the other at the VP44. The one at the VP should be a long sweep 90 degree bend like from Vulcan.
  10. I see so much bs abounding everywhere that its a wonder how folks can develop any good judgement at all. Just go to big city... you'll see what I mean.
  11. Mike, have you had any big bears coming around? Tracks in the snow?
  12. Yes in April is good Mike. Promise not to knock on any wood anywhere around there. lol.
  13. I just need the relay Daniel. Vulcan supplied the good protection relay on my work truck, but source Automotive did not on the rv camping trip truck. So yes just need the relay and connect it into the harness. So now you your getting license to drink all my beer at camp Plus some cash there boss
  14. I just bump my starter. Watch F/P gauge till it gets up to around 7-9 psi and then crank it. Works everytime .I don't like the ECM doing the rapid on/off business to the relay. Work truck still needs the protection diode on the relay
  15. The ECM lift pump power lead becomes an on off switch to activate an aftermarket Relay which then powers the lift pump off the batts. Unless we talking about two different relays and understood wrong about which we were referring to. I know that you have a lot more hands on experience than I'll ever have. So I feel like a donkey trying to teach the professor. lol
  16. Are you still powering your lift pump off the factory ECM lead? Jlbayes I like old technology..... water wheels for electricity and old covered wagons, but you need to get up to speed bud. Not poking here
  17. I used to have a 92 12 valve that had a metal slip expansion sleeve built into the module from the factory. It rotted out by the time the truck was 16 years old and about 350k miles, but it was only about a 16th of an inch thick. I made a new sleeve using a 4 in ABS straight coupling. I would drill a couple holes and cut out the screens. Did this to both my 2nd gens together with what your doing and is been fine as long as you place a water separating filter before the lift pump on the frame. This stops sediment from getting into the lift pump.
  18. 12 k is high. Have you checked their reviews on Google or Yelp? At those prices, It seems they should have a near perfect reputation. Is it possible to have that engine fired up on a test stand? It should normally blow blue smoke for about 1-2 minutes when first started cold.
  19. So fuel heater wasn't able to help? What were outside temps?
  20. I like the idea of a sump because it's much simpler design. The drawback is potential clogging from everything collected at a single low point in the fuel system. Don't really know for sure. I would like to try one but my reading has led me to believe they are illegal on a fuel system.
  21. I like that idea Bob . will wait for the results. Actually your talking about a lot of heat with these little alternators. Even if diodes hold for awhile the alternator becomes less efficient as heat rises .Efficiency rating can go down as much as 50% and shows the reason for a desirable large frame alternator, helping to absorb, and act as a heat sink. The book I have says you should always order an alternator with twice the capacity needed because of this efficiency drop. Aircraft have a cooling tube blowing at theirs, but that's for faster air speeds perhaps.
  22. In the morning I always bump the starter and wait for fuel pressure to get up to around 7-9 psi and then fire up the engine. Works every time. Need to find the ECM lift pump pig tail and have that control a relay that activates the lift pump connection to the batteries. There is a lot more in articles in this forum that you have to consider, such as a protection relay to protect the ECM.
  23. I had it happen and saw the writing on the wall when I knew my rig was a most sellable desired rig for a used truck lot. Ended up fixing it myself.
  24. W-T, the way you write.... It's enough to get a complete Alzheimmered guy to sit up and pay attention.
  25. MEDealer...... says, you could just trade it in........ we can't figure whats wrong.
