  1. I'm thinking of selling my truck camper and going the 5th wheel idea. I understand they tow real well if not over 30 feet.
  2. Thank you all for the compliments on the cabin. You wouldn't believe how hard I had to work with 5 of us trying to live in a trailer. Come home, eat diner, right back to work till 9-10 pm, then back to work in the morning. After two weeks you start getting used to it, but I was much younger then. Amazing Dynamic Two thumbs up.
  3. My truck is strange because after a whole new fuel system upgrade and new lift pump...... fuel draining out of the VP while doing the work, I was able to get it started by opening the fuel connection to the VP. I had to do it a second time (thinking no way will it work) after I needed to reroute one of the fuel lines. It worked perfect again, don't ask me how cause I always cracked the injection lines before for years. I think the VP is able to hold prime in the pressure lines even though the VP drains and then somehow let out the air thru the cracked fuel main inlet. All I know is it worked cause someone over torqued the pressure lines so I couldn't crack them open.
  4. Thanks for the info.....Very cool job there Scott.
  5. So now your going to be 'Exhausted' at days end Sorry...... don't know what got into me....
  6. Nice looking daughter you have there. I had three notorious 'daughtlers' around here but now all grown up. Did you do a Cummins/ Allison to your Chevy Suburban?
  7. Couldn't I use just an extra amount of dielectric grease on the sanded off paint? My 2001 has trans hunting every once in awhile. I cleaned every ground and it went away. VM shows marginal volts AC on the back of the alternator which gives me a great chance to test and clean more things/ find what will make it stop hunting. The other day hunting went away when I just retightened the battery cables after I disconnected them to do some work. Now it's back again. Even though I tighten them well enough so as to not break the cable clamp, I noticed they were not real tight after the last cleaning from about 2 mos. earlier. Problem is the clamp breaks at the bolt area if too tight so I'm going to try some small screw clamps over the posts. Does anyone know if using what electricians use called NOALOX on the battery posts would help ? I think its a dielectric grease with a conductive lead or aluminum dust mixed in.
  8. Killer, same tires came with 01 I bought. Really like them. So far wear is good and gotten a couple compliments. Some folks seem to notice good tires for some reason.
  9. I went back to stock rims on my 01. Drove around to 3 tire shops and found 32 used dodge second gen lug nuts for 20 bucks. Had to look thru a bin of them but barely found the 32 I needed.
  10. You should mount everything inboard of the frame as not only winter cold a concern but Dot regs says something about a required fuel delivery system to be inside the frame. If you mount close enough to the transfere case it is very easy to extend the transfere case skid/ protection plate. I made mine so I can undo one bolt and skid plate swings out of the way for filter changes. I like having a shut off valve too so no loss of prime when changing filters. I used 1/4 aluminum plate and is mounted to overlap and bolt on upper side the factory skip plate. That way it laps over and won't snag parts flying off Mike Nelson truck My
  11. Yep they are the best kind of folks to be with. Most times they won't even let me contribute to the diner with foods but this time they finally did. Made me feel like a viable asset and not just an old hippey bum.
  12. Perfect shot to break down near Michael Nelson and end up on the river. It was a great time and very surreal to see the darkness with the sun so high. It was very hot there but the effect of the eclipse and the cool ocean kind of breeze it brought forth was amazing. It was so good to see Mopar Mom, Michael, and Diesel Dog again and Dan and Jennifer where so very interesting to visit with for the 3 days. They made the stay wonderful and fun every moment. Except I was bad when I knocked on their rv too early one morning
  13. that's me on the driveway and pics of the cabin we all built together. Kids all out on their own now. Man how time flies.
  14. And Diesel Dog too... Killer you can sleep in my camper on the dinette. It converts into a bed if you wish, but it's better if you not a tall guy like under 6 foot..
  15. Any of you guys are welcome to meet up where Daniel and I meet twice a year near Bridgeport California. It's an awesome place near Nevada. You guys would not believe how pretty a place and Daniels buds always show. Always great folks, great friends, no CNN horsecrap. So if you can't make this one you can look forward to another one perhaps closer to you. Oh yeah no cell service too.
  16. I think its pet friendly. I remember Michaels dog 'Diesel' was there when we stayed. .
  17. I can share a tent site cause my truck an camper is only 2 feet longer than regular pick up. Be glad to share my space and I'm tall enough to give good shade. The rv park lady was open to the idea that I stay in a parking spot by the building too cause that's all I need. Another option is for me to park behind IBM mobile cause the sites are long too. Heading out on thursday
  18. I think he knows where the candy came from I forgot and left on the pic-a-nic table.
  19. Not too soon for me Boss, Working on the hot side all day the high was 70 degreesEven the cheerleaders were happy Smoke all gone at your place Mike?
  20. Signs of fall coming... 47 degrees at 5am, no smoke, lots of condensation on trucks.
  21. The cream puff I just bought was the only truck amongst 4 that was all original and taken care of for reliability. Others looked abused and modified to satisfy hunger for power.
  22. Some of my clients... no matter how long I've worked for them think I'm dirty grease that won't go away. Thanks Mopar for the info.
  23. Cummins may have a source to bring one in?
  24. Wouldn't Cummins parts be able to get one? I just checked both my trucks, both cold, the fans spin free but spin stiff. The 2001 with about 100k more miles spins a bit more firm.
