LED Headlights
Nice to live where there's no street lights, you can see the difference with upgraded headlites too.

2 inch leveling kit
my 02 has a level kit and my 01 does not. It measures 2 inch higher. When I needed new front shocks before the level kit, KYB says I needed the longer shocks in front because I told them about the future level kit.

Ground posts and preservatives
my untreated fence that lasted 15 years was buried in packed clay loam, not good for drainage. I did not use gravel, but was easy to change out a post later. I see people put the fence in concrete and then it's a bear getting it out later unless you relocate the posts (change the frame rails too. I noticed even the treated posts for ground contact don't last as long as they used to.

Factory alarm question
Thanks Joel, I thought it was only for interference. So it works even when using my key which sets off a full alarm and will not let me start my own my truck?

Ground posts and preservatives
My opinion is use the copper Napth for the in ground part but don't anchor them in concrete so when you need to change one out it will be easier. Anchor them in small gravel. or well draining sandy soil is even better. I built a fence the same way without any treatment and it lasted 15 years. After that things started to go fast.

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure that we will be glad to hear from you more often.

Factory alarm question
I want to disable the alarm system all together, as if no alarm feature. Is there a way to do that. I'm not happy with a truck that honks the horn constantly just for using a key in the door.

Anyone tilt Bed to Get To Tank?
Friend that's going to help with his loader is getting done at his place. I don't want to tie up all his time with doing the fuel system too. Plus my place has no clocks measurement of time. lol

Anyone tilt Bed to Get To Tank?
Thank you both. That's what I was looking for. I like the two bolts loosened in the rear as it guides the bed back in place to not damage anything when you lower it back down. Nick using the 4x4 and jack... was it a floor jack you used? So you just loosened the passenger side bolts instead to hold in place and are you saying you used the 2x6 as a lever to raise the bed? Thanks.

Anyone tilt Bed to Get To Tank?
I'll be working alone with full tank on this new to me truck I just bought. It has an in tank pump that I need change to frame mounted Raptor 150, also changing to 1/2'' draw and fuel lines. I want to tilt the bed to get at everything. Is it best to raise the driver side or raise the front like a dump bed? If I raise the front it looks like it might hit the cab before it goes high enough so should I tilt bed sideways instead? Thanks in advance.

What a day
That's a nice truck Dave. I like the color. Make sure the frame is still square. I hope the BMW lady learns to drive a nice truck instead. Looks like she was lucky really. Dave, now we know how you get those addresses and phone numbers to those cute Beamer Babes, lol.

CJ-4 vs CK-4 diesel oil
That's what we do around here is eat chicken sandwiches and hijack threads, so it perfectly all right you guys. And welcome to all the new folks coming aboard. I'm still running CI-4 because I experienced an inordinate amount of metal sticking to the drain plug magnet from using CJ-4 only one time. So I went back.

New paint on the way!
Two toned black and silver, for some reason, those two colors on a second gen totally makes it . Don't know what it is about the darker colors on our trucks, but, IMO it makes even newer trucks not look as good anymore.

Injector Time
No, I don't need to vent.... just jumpin in on Me78569's comment about some bs floatin around. I think Pacific Fuel is an honest Company and have no problem with them.

Help Diagnosing Brakes DRAGGING
When my truck was almost new (29,000 miles) I kept have problems with one caliper then another at different times always sticking, dragging the truck. Never heard of all four or two sticking simultaniuosly like yours. Have you changed/ flushed your power steering fluid lately? it also actuates the booster to the brakes.

No mostly the things you hear from people supposedly in the know is what's surprising. And here I got rid of my hip waiters quite awhile ago. lol.

Injector Time
Michael Nelson put in my rebuilt VP, which I bought thru Eric, came from Pacific Fuel injection, has been good so far. Then my first gen, my other truck needed a new VE pump but Eric was sick at the time, he was closed, so I bought the rebuilt direct this time from Pacific Fuel injection. One day the first gen with the VE left me stranded and had to be towed home. I had been thru just about everything trying to solve an idle problem when it left me stranded. So I called Pacific fuel injection and asked what inside my two week old VE pump could cause it to suddenly not start when It was clearly getting fuel, compression and air. He told me to check the Fuel Solinoid shut off valve. We check for its operation with a stethoscope and volt meter and sure enough he was right. So was Michael Nelson BTW, when I called him for advice too. Anyway, Pacific Fuel injection let me meet him at his house on a Saturday to get the new part since he was to guarantee the newly rebuilt injection pump. That's when we discussed the VP44 at his house since I told him I have his pump in that truck I was driving. I was amazed at his information about the overflow valve, telling me to stay below 14 psi or it shuts off fuel to the injection pump and directs the fuel only to the return line and starves injection pump fuel demands. Never heard anything like that before and was surprised to say the least. Not wanting an argument, I left on a good note wanting only to get my old truck running again. Which it fired up right away BTW. I was happy except for the ongoing rough idle problem. I think it is robbing antifreeze meaning a new head gasket most likely my rough idle problem too.. I'm keeping an eye on it for now. I'm not calling Michael Nelson any more.... I have called so much over this first gen and its problems I think he's pretty pissed or at least tired of it. I know I would be. Proly called 30 times for advice. I got pretty emotional over my first gen, wanting it back again. I had the old girl for 20.5 years as a work truck every work day as a faithful companion so I was distraught over it acting up and kept calling Mike all the time. Now I got a newer 2001 SLT Lariet that I'm starting to like that will become the new work truck when its ready.

Injector Time
Completely baffling how a guy that rebuilds Cummins injection pumps can tell me right off what went wrong and why I most likely got stranded and had to be towed home. And then when he gives me the part I need tells me that a VP44 will blow its diaphragm, that high fuel pressure above 12 will have a cumulative effect and eventually blow the diaphragm Then goes on to tell me that when the overflow valve is open it will starve the injection pump for fuel, that fuel gets diverted back to the tank when open. Yet the rebuilder has done a good job on both rebuilt injection pumps I got from them. One VP and one VE.

Factory alarm question
Do you mean that you can see history of the truck and its error codes that have cleared in the past? I ask because I just bought an 01 that has the factory alarm and would like to know the work that was done to it.

Rebuilding a Holset HX35/40W turbo
I do not think it's a Hijack when the Turbo is in connection with the TC, in use anyway. I cannot even think about power mods. I used to be in so much trouble with tickets. Now whenever I just think about putting my foot in it, there is a cop there half hiding watching. It's just my luck.

Hello All
Thank you. I like your truck too. I'll be posting pictures of my company truck when I get it done. I just bought the 01 and need to transfer the utility flatbed and get 1/2 lines installed, get the in tank lift pump out of there.

2 inch leveling kit
I have an 02 and an 01. I did the 2 in level to the 02 and will not do it again as it's not as simple as you think because you will need to recenter the axle with buying an adjustable trac bar then you need longer drag links on the sway bar then you need to recenter the steering wheel to it's12 o'clock position when going straight by playing with the correct adjustment. If you don't do it right you will get vibration from a misalighned front driveline. Then you need longer shocks so they don't bang on the stretch when going over speed bumps. Then when you place a load in the back the truck will look sagged so then you need air bags too. I just don't recommend it any longer.
