In serious need of help!
Call Michael Nelson in the morning he likes advising folks. Knows the truck well. He owns the forum and is the very best sort in my opinion (208) 628-3645

need new battery cables
I finally listened to Mike on the use of engine oil and he is right, all my battery stuff is staying new looking. Except I missed getting some on the battery hold down bolts. They are getting a little thin in the shank and will get new before they break.

What electric lift pump would you buy today?
If your already set up for the frame mount electric pump I would go that route again seeing as how you are broke down now. That will get you home to figure out a more permanent mechanical pump for the future. Thunder showers here now in Oregon. Hope no fires start

19.5" Wheels & Tires
I go for 16 inch Alcoas. 200 bucks per set with 3750 pound weight carrying capacity. And they are forged not cast. That's a major plus right there. No regearing the speedo. But I'm not a big wheels type of guy. Me likes skate board wheels.

Sad news
bc would you mind doing some picks of our noise insulation package? I had promised I would but have been feeling not so well lately and our heat wave isn't helping. Now I have to leave for an out of town job. Thank you ever so much.

Church web stuff
I'm afraid of hackers and identity theft so I'm still using checks.

Sad news
I will do that for you. I've been sleeping most of the day after working long hours out of town. I have a very difficult job going on out in the sun and tends to wear on me. So been working early hours and then later into the evenings.

Sad news
I did not know about noise in the second gens as my truck has the extra sound deadening package from the factory, if anyone wants to know what they did I can take pics. It's so good about not being noisy I never gave it any thought until I read this thread. There's just enough noise to let you know it a diesel is all.

Why do bad things happen to us
On my job everyone became very concerned and unhappy over the cabinets being 12 days late as there was over 100 people already scheduled to be at this church camp when it opens. On this particular day I was outside on the phone for ten minutes. Trying my hardest to get everything else properly lined up, I discovered there really wasn't much reason for me to be there till we got the cabinets. I almost locked the door and drove off thinking I would get most of a nice Friday off. Great I thought...but... something told me to go back inside one more time and see if there is anything that can be done. I got around the corner, heard a loud noise and found water gushing out of the wall. That water couldin't have been running more than a minute or so when I caught it but was a full 3/4 inch line that burst. Imagine, no one around all weekend had I locked the door and left. If the cabs were installed getting the water out from under them and costly for the Damage to the cabinets alone with the amount of water I was dealing with in that minute or so. Plumber and I spent about 4 hrs cleaning up was only about $600 bucks damage. Thank our Lord, the Church retreat opened without a hitch. ..

RV troubles from the weekend
I've been told by my rv dealer to never hook to city water without the pressure reducer on. Oh man I'm glad your rv is okay as water is the biggest destructer of an rv. Actually I think it's called a pressure regulator cause city pressure is too high for rv's system

Alternator Diode
I had my denso go for 240k on my first gen Dodge, so I switched from Bosch to a Denso on my second gen truck when the AC noise level was a bit too high. The mileage was around 50/60 k when I switched it out.

Alternator Diode
This so good that you are going to do this. I will bet the Denso is better built than the Bosch. There is a big deal about Balmar Alternators in the marine industry. Very expensive, I hear sailors rely on them to help survive at sea, but, sheesh! $5-700 bucks each.... that's going overboard. Problem too is you don't really know if they are that much better and when you realize the disadvantage they place on their units by painting them. That's not right as it won't dissipate heat with the heavy powder coat on them.

Michael on S&R duty
That is too bad... was he a family man? My heart and prayers goe out to his family.

Tired...
I'm very happy we got about a half inch of rain. Conditions are so much nicer with the cooler days and less fire hazard. That's what we nick named my youngest daughter with the fire red hair. So cute with those blue eyes.... we called her 'fire hazard'

Michael on S&R duty
Mike why did the guy die? was it a head injury? I'm very sorry about this

Drier than a popcorn fart...
No joke is right. I keep watching the satilite animation which is showing constant flow up from the equator. I pray that our Lord will end it soon as this will be an explosive fire season without rain. I've never seen Mount Hood in Oregon so dry. Nor so dry around my place in western Oregon too.
-
Tired...
Yep, I hear that. Also it has to do with a whirlwind of sorts, things I have to do to complete a job that is very complex. Like what needs to be done first can change with each moment of further realization of another aspect I didn't think of before Can't wait to see how it comes out in the end. Put simply, it's a challenge and a good one .
-
Tired...
Me too... things been so busy... runnin tired all the time.... I lost my checkbook and fuel cap all in one day. Beginning to catch up on sleep a little every nite. I pray no fires out there too Mike. I've never seen conditions this extreme so early in west Oregon.
-
Tired...
5 Gallon buckets lined up at the neighbors fence filled with rv black tank stuff, labeled 'in case of fire'. Only have one lid a hair open (smell) to let him know it's there just in case.

Power steering overflowing
be cool just to have a drain T on that line. Esp. for us old guys.... just open the valve and there's already a drain hose there

Water/Meth Injection for Better Fuel Mileage
Yep it sure does on dry pavement no less. Mike your truck is a wolf in sheeps clothing, but I agree there is a point where power upgrades have a diminishing return. Old guys like less on it for less potential problems so what can I say
