  1. Pretty smart. I like the good ole' American know how:thumbup2:
  2. Here in Oregon there are two precasting companies that build concrete septic tanks. I've helped set about 3 1,000 gallon tanks in the past. They would big enough for an average family if you cut a doorway in. They are delivered and set in the hole your excavator digs out for only around $450, but, the problem, I understand, is when it rains and soaks the ground so much that they can float out of the ground. That's why we fill 'em with water a soon as they are buried. What to do there:think:, get them to drain?. Probably order one without a bottom or set the whole thing in drain rock so the floor drains:shrug:. Don't know except $450 is a good price to save a family or two.
  3. At least make it a building requirement to have an underground room built under each new home or within close proximity of an existing home.It would be good a business to have prebuilt or preformed concrete box/ rooms you can bury underground. Seems like that would be a great sideline for an excavation contractor. The force to lift freight trains... man! That's not something to mess with.Prayers for those Children in the school that was hit today... sometimes these things are never understood.
  4. John I use a concrete grinding disc in my grinder. Helps a lot to get it in plumb and centered. Mark it with a level and grind. I know... you probly already know this stuff:banghead: :cry:When you get past 61 it seems like most jobs around my place are least favorite. Unless the wife lets me rent a excavator:drool:
  5. Ouch , we all have some of those mistakes a time or two. My fuel module is a real basket case. What's left of it. The screens are cut out and the draw straw was against the side which partially blocked off the fuel at the bottom of the drawstraw so that part of the plastic is cut out. The worse thing is the plastic ain't shatter proof so I went to cut a tiny piece out of the way, but, it sort of shattered into big pieces:banghead: when trying to snip off a little. That plastic is so very brittle. When my fuel register goes out I'm going to try one for a boat fuel tank from West Marine. My other truck's got a modified 4'' ABS pipe fitting (much thicker/ stronger plastic) as part of the fuel basket. $ All of 4.95 part to fix.
  6. Ive heard of it actually happening where the people inside the vehicle were left unharmed. My wifes cousin in Oklahoma had a little girl, less than one year, that was found unharmed over a mile away. As she grew up she was terrified of wind storms. As for the weather channel.... those guys are strange. They report about areas they favor over others. They'll stand right in front of the PNW all the while talking about the East coast or other areas so you never get to see what the weather map is showing there. Then hardly ever mention the PNW region either.
  7. Have any you guys ever talked with someone that got lifted up by one in their truck or car and was put back down miles away and lived?
  8. You are right..... A drive thru the Columbia River Gorge is absolutely spectacular this time of year. I love it with the big black clouds and lots of action from the weather.
  9. I respect the fact that you are doing something like this. Thank you ever so much for sharing your ideas.... They are good ones.
  10. I wish they'd get the gas pumps far out of the way of us diesel guys wantin' diesel. You know seperate them completely from the gas island. So much smarter and then there's no confusion/worry.
  11. Now that's a place where a family can really live. I've got one similar in that it's private and secluded.... cannot sell it so I just keep cuttin' the grass and enjoy it.
  12. I had this problem with my daughters jeep. It turned out to be a clogged cat.PM being sent.
  13. On my other flatbed truck I need to use a paper towel roll as a funnel to get the TCW3 to go in the tank. I noticed that the Walmart 2 cycle oil seems to soak thru the cardboard faster than other brands. Could be thinner stuff, I don't know... but a Walmart is not near me so I'm using lots of other brands. One I like is non synthetic West Marine brand. It's not too bad of a deal if you buy it by the case on their once a year sale price.
  14. Interesting Day....... If it was a reality TV show you'd be makin' a fortune and have to look like this guy all the time. Then you'd really be pullin' hair out:lol:
  15. What about that silly factory tire jack behind the seat? That thing is not very good, esp. if you are hauling a heavy camper. Has anyone figured out a way to mount a better bigger jack back there? It needs to mount pretty solid cause a good jack can kill in a wreck. Also, can a hydrolic (sp.) jack mount sideways without leaking on the carpet? Thanks:) to anyone that knows
  16. On long road trips I tend to carry only a few thingsExtra lift pump and tools for that3/4'' wrench for primingExtra fuel filter(s) and tools for thatA Timbo Apps and cam sesnsor and tools for them.Tow strap and extra fluids
  17. Most diesel guys are color blind anyhow, from the fumes, that greenhorn though.... putting gas in.... well that's hard to explain.
  18. Driply, isn't there a nice church you can attend near your jobsite?
  19. EEEE ...gads..... wouldn't that make your truck sound like a gas trimmer?
  20. Who in their right mind would put boat motor oil, for a boat motor, in their diesel truck?!:lmao:
  21. 12 PSI on a Carter pump sounds like the common banjo bolt and stock fuel line restriction. If you put in 1/2'' lines all the way you should see around 14-15 with no drop on WOT, even with the Carter pump.I'm surprised they did not tell you that you need to get rid of the stock lines before you replaced the VP.It's sort of like putting in a new engine but having too small of a radiator to keep it properly cooled. Pressure needs to stay 14 and above.
  22. I believe your mechanic might be using the less expensive 'organic' pads to help save the rotors from wearing.I use them they are cheaper, yes, but, I'd rather keep my rotors in good shape. I have had problems lately with the calipers sticking so I'm sure glad about using the cheaper pads. There might be a better organic pad out there that still won't cut into the rotors so bad. All about how much research the manufacturer does.... I guess.I have heard a lot about Hawk's brand being very good from Geno's but, don't know anything about wear.
  23. I disconnect both and flush both ways letting the dirt wash down to the ground. I use a tapered hose fitting or anything I can push into the heater hoses.
