  1. The ferry was near the bridge on I-5 just south of the Wilsonville exit and is called Boone Bridge today.
  2. The cities and surrounding areas are getting crazy everywhere. That's why you moved out in the Boonies, right Mike? Speaking of Boonies......The land I bought was owned by one of Daniel Boones' descendants, AL Boone. Daniel Boone settled this area long ago and operated a ferry across the Willamette river, before any bridges were built, about 15 miles from me.
  3. I sent positive dc throughout my grounding system once by accident. I was unaware that I was so tired and made the mistake. I cannot remember the problems I had but it was with all the gauges either not working or working erratic. I was completely freaked out as I had just bought the truck with 30 k miles on it still under warranty. Mopar man suggested I disconnect my batteries for a half an hour. It was wonderful when everything went back to normal. I hope it works for you too. Important that I also mention about those square fuses with the square window be tested instead of only looked at because they can look good even though actually burnt.
  4. It has been said that an acre of forest supports 18 people with enough oxygen to live. So if trees are such a great filter, i.e. taking in carbon monoxide and other micro pollutants and producing oxygen for everyone, do you think we could call them the earths Big Honkin Air filter? I put that in there so you guys might wake up . Anyhow thinking of this 'green solution for pollution as in the use of electric vehicles, you know there is no such thing as a free lunch as in the ramifications of battery waste, chemicals, nuclear waste from electricity..... Wouldn't make more sense to plant and take care of our forest lands and trees? Make more sense to use a fuel that can be filtered, as in Diesel ? Penny for your thoughts
  5. Where the pic of the inside all done? I Wanna make sure Dripley flies me out to be one of his subcontractors
  6. MoparMan thinks I'm total dead beat cause I drive like Grampa with a checkbook in my pocket and an automatic transmission. You know what?.... I thinks he's right..... Whats a deadbeat look like anyhow?
  7. Oh darn! we coulda had rats shown hiding in his truck over the wheels all that stuff.
  8. They are pretty nice, they have depth and don't look flat Can she do a loge type of painting of Mopar man under the hood with parts and wrenches laying everywhere? Maybe show his mountain country in the background with the firewood not split It might be difficult though.
  9. LOL, I've seen a lot of the folks speed up to go around just to hurry up to the red light and stop. It like there is only brakes or throttle nothin in between. On a long run they must wonder why the hell they're all wore out.
  10. Oh...... Cummins23, you have to read the article closely to get it right. What happened to your passenger battery? What truck do you have? Fill out your signature so we all know it's not a single battery first gen truck or there abouts. Nice of you to join in the forum
  11. I use the least expensive from O'Reillys. Based on Mopar1973Man advice I try to get the least metallic pads I can find, but they all pretty much some metallic these days. My rotors are staying good BTW.
  12. I drive a lot by coasting up to the stops and my pads last at least 60,000 on both automatic trucks. I leave a lot of room in front sort of hang back just a little. It filters out the tailgators and speeders that get up ahead to click the lights green for me by the time I get there.
  13. I haven't figured out how to start a forum in the Travel Camp Forum. I don't think there is anything started if it is forum capable .
  14. I did not know this thread got a such a great response from MoparMom. Somehow I missed that. GSP7 thank you for joining the Travel Camp Club and bumping this thread which lead me here. Thanks to the others who joined in with thoughts of meeting with us someday in the trees, mountains, glaciers, lakes and fishing. IBMobile, his buds (good folks) and myself have all uncovered the secret to getting a good dose of happy free and disconnected. Fun times and faith is all too easily forgotten these days. And Dripley will never make it out west if he don't quit smokin them cigs. God..... I suffered so much to quit those smokes. And the world with its troubles seems to always hound you and say light up once more, it won't hurt you.
  15. Thank you Haggar and Dripley too
  16. Pull that plug that faces rearward on the transfer case and see if full of ATF. Should be full to the plug. The carrier bearing could be the noise, just not sure. I think if you had a hill you could place the transfer case and trans in neutral and let her coast with the window down. With the trans and transfer case in neutral I believe nothing forward of the transfer case would be turning so you could tell that way.
  17. Okay, I thought you had play in the U joints. My bad. I believe the wear on that carrier bearing is just a rubber bushing/ sleeve. I believe you could get home okay if not too far. Unless the rubber spins in there, which I doubt, but if it is could be the squeal we are hearing. How many miles on that truck?
  18. I'm talking about the return fuel 'T' on the back end of the engine head. Its back under the windshield cowell. Have to lay on the engine to get to it. When the rubber grommets/ seals go bad it lets air into the system when parked nose uphill and you lose prime affording some hard starts. It is a 'T' in order to take return fuel from two places, the injectors and from the VP44 Overflow valve you were referring to above.
  19. It is supposed to not move in any direction, mine are tight all ways. Sounds like you have some dry U joints Evan, I can hear it. It even changes a few notes near the end of the Vid. I've never heard anything like it. worn Ujoints sometimes give vibration in the seat not a high note squeal so I'm not sure. Be care ful going near spinning wheels I worry about folks getting hurt.
  20. That is weird. Sounds like you should..... but very dangerous, get it up on a rack start it up, drop it in gear and give it a rev see what things do with a mechanic standing back and watching/ listening.
  21. The latest Raptors have a newer type of regulator with a long stem inside. I had trouble with wild fuel pressures on both new Raptor 150's until I adjusted up/ down several times. It was like the O rings where stuck in there until they got lubed with fuel.
  22. Sounds like you got it right then. That's cool. Make sure the regulator is in good shape. no broken spring and the vitron ball isn't been pushed into the end of the screen. Some guys have to bend the screen a little to stop that. Watch you fuel tank vent, by taking a run next time with the fuel cap loose. Don't be running around without a fuel pressure gauge. You have to keep from starving the injection pump by always keeping the pressure above 14 or you'll be spending some bucks .
  23. You should bump the starter and wait for fuel pressure to go up to around 9 psi and then crank to see if she starts right away. I say this because it could only be the fuel return Tee gaskets on the back of the head. When they start going bad they let in air so when you shut down you lose prime because fuel will drain back to the tank. This causes hard starts and the trick of bringing up the fuel pressure before cranking isn't always a perfect way to tell if that is the problem. IOW, just don't want to to jump into a new VP without knowing for sure. My truck got a new VP last year and hard starts just showed up for me. I'm pretty sure it's the return Tee.
  24. He may have very high or excessive AC voltage ripple from a bad alternator confusing the electronics and the trans sensors. At any rate you will need to complete the modification most of us have had to accomplish. It's in the article section called, 'W-Ts ground wiring mods'. This mod has solved trans hunting problems, but is good for all trucks with a Manual trans as well since it stops harmful excess AC noise. You should install the more reliable, higher quality Timbo APPS as well since the factory unit is built so poorly. It will help bullet proof your truck. Dripley is correct on the trans service and sensor upgrades. The trans filter and fluid needs service every 30,000, so you should get a Georend trans pan to help with that in the future. Do it yourself as I've had the best of them leave me with a leaky trans. It hurts to pay top dollar and get leaks so I do it myself from now on and take my time and always get a premium result. You will need a good inch pounds torque wrench. First time you do it will pay the $180 for the wrench.
  25. Pretty soon the parts stores are going to say, 'there is no 'lifetime warranty' any more on those second gen cummins
