  1. Trade water for firewood??!!
  2. Twas just saying of course. Don't want to infuriate the "commander in chief" with my/our lowly requests.
  3. Tell you what guys; with that flooding 5 days ago, it's amazing how dry my lawn is now. I mowed the lawn on Tuesday afternoon, because it needed it after the rain and such. But yesterday afternoon (Wednesday), walking around the yard (still doing some clean up from the flood) I was amazed that there are cracks in the ground already!!! Lake Michigan is approaching all time high water levels.
  4. Most any upgrade is better than "stock" filtration.....................both engine oil and fuel.
  5. Nope; only about 3 inches over about 2.5 hours. Totally; IMHO, caused by the township that has been systematically redoing ditches and storm sewers "UPHILL" of me. I'm in on of the highest areas of the neighborhood, but am in a slight depression on the "high spot". Water flows toward me................but they've increased the rate of that flow with the improvements uphill of me. No damage in the house. I'm on a crawl space. The sump pump was running continuous for over 4 hours even with my little 1/6hp little kicker pump in the pit with the garden hose attached to it running out the office window helping it. Crawl never flooded though.
  6. Free delivery???
  7. Not around my area of the country.....................NE Illinois/SE Wisconsin. This has been a relatively cool and wet (rain) summer so far. Only a few hot/humid days so far. All that said; this is what happened at my "humble little dump" 3 days ago, July 18, 2015..............................IMHO, all township caused. The 1st 2 pix are taken from the NW side of my house while standing in ankle deep water on my street. The 2nd 2 pix are taken from the SW side of my house standing behind my neighbors mailbox in shin deep water. The 3rd 2 pix are taken from my backyard kind of in the SE corner but facing 2 different directions.
  8. Does the 7.3 rev that high.................3,000rpm???? Just axing. The ones I've driven wouldn't/couldn't come close the 3,000rpm.
  9. Buy a bicycle if'n your commute is that short via car/truck.
  10. Now if you'd slow down to 65mph; you'd be 20+mpg or higher!!! The stations where I normally buy fuel from DO NOT specify the EXACT amount of BIO in their diesel. There's just a "generic" sticker on the pump that says the diesel being pumped can be anywhere from 5-20%BIO. Doesn't phase me one bit any longer....................I still add my 16oz. of 2 stroke and fill the tank where ever I'm at!!!
  11. Agreed..............was just making sure I understood where you were coming from. The up-side-down V vs. the up-side-down U essentially.
  12. Got that right!!
  13. So you think it's essentially still flushing diesel down the toilet/exhaust pipe??? I would think with that many events, that some of them have to be for power. It'd be interesting to find where in the cycle all those events are happening.
  14. What is in/on my truck other than what I mentioned..................... IN/ON THE BED 1. Fiberglass camper shell 2. Line-X bed liner 3. Wooden platform in the bed 3/4 box length and wheel well height 4. 2 large dog crates on this platform 5. 3 dozen training bumpers under platform 6. Jumper cables, 2 inch hitch, 2 5/16 hitch, army shovel, dog stake out under platform 7. 1 gallon engine oil, 2-4 quarts of 2 stroke oil, 1 gallon of dog water in a small plastic box IN THE BACK SEAT 1. 2 dozen silhouette decoys for dog training 2. Assorted tools and spare parts for truck under the seat. 3. Dog first aid kit That was essentially it in my truck. Back seat was empty save for the bag of decoys.
  15. Just for heck of it, while driving past a certified scale, I turned in and got MightyWhitey weighed. Just me in the truck, no dogs, no trailer, minimal stuff inside, and 7/8 tank of fuel. Steer axle..............................4680lbs. Drive axle..............................3300lbs. Gross weight.........................7980lbs. If I put just 2 of my dogs, plus some more dog training stuff I regularly use, I'd surely be pushing 8200lbs. Then is I put the 3rd dog in the truck............ When we drive to NoDak, we normally have 3 guys and 2-3 dogs in my truck and a heavy tool kit, jack, etc.........Wouldn't surprise me that the truck alone is pushing 9000lbs.........................then the trailer that's usually loaded to the ceiling with gear. With a front GAWR of 5200lbs., my 3rd gen is 90% of maximum with very little in the truck. It's no wonder they go thru BJ's, TRE's, and axle U-joints like candy.
  16. John, with all the new diesels on the market from other manufacturers...................they all have "multiple" injection events correct??? Some even reporting as many as 5 or 6 IIRC. All those extra events cannot just be for emissions and/or turbo spool. Just thinking out loud here.
  17. Like I said; nothing lasts anymore!! BTW.....................last tank of fuel with only 1 day of trailer towing got me 22.1mpg average.
  18. Just did the math................298.xx days running!!!
  19. 7174 hours.................31.6mph average. When I saw that it was leaking; I went online to research them. The consensus was that it's a "crap shoot" with water pumps no matter where one gets them. This is a NEW pump, not a remanufactured one, and it looked almost identical to the OEM one.
  20. Parked the truck outside last night................next day I saw drip drops on the drive. Upon further inspection, the water pump was wet, was leaking down the front passengers side of the engine. Some spray on air box also. Dripping off of the AC compressor mainly. Had to be the first day it leaked, because I've had a clean piece of cardboard on the floor in my garage under my truck for months with no wet spots!!
  21. Replaced the OEM one yesterday afternoon with a new one from AutoZone. I tell you; nothing lasts anymore, only 226,xxx miles/11years and this thing craps out on me!! Weep hole was plugged with dirt/**** etc. The rubber O-ring was broken thru in one spot once I got her out. Don't know if I tore it removing it though; as I had to take a wood dowel and place it on the water pump to break it free from the block. I didn't wack it hard, just tapped to break the 11 year old dirt seal on the thing. Once I saw that it moved from the block, it came out easily. Cleaned up the mounting area, put a very light coat of grease on the O-ring, and re-installed. I did remove tension on the serpentine belt, and removed the OEM air filter box to gain some elbow room to get my big hands and wrenches in there!! No extra parts left over, and no leaks either!!!
  22. Why ball joints; when just doing a tire rotation??? And now, back to normal??
  23. Are you not concerned with the Fe/Iron number?? IIRC Amsoil always seems to test high there, and no one can explain why.
  24. I rotated my tires a while ago, just because I'd not done it in a while. Truck tracked straight and true, no problems. However; right after rotating, I had a pull to the right and the steering seems less responsive. Drove for about 3-4000 miles this way, and couldn't take it any longer. I did the normal rotation pattern I've always done...................rears straight forward to the front, and the fronts crossed to the rears. Anyhow, the truck is back to driving like it was prior to the previous rotation. The drivers side front, which is now on the passengers side rear, was wearing very strangely. Seem to be like every other lug, or every third lug block on the inside of the tire was worn. These weren't scalloped, they were worn lower. I dunno. Like I said, truck is back to normal with this tire on the rear now.
  25. Racing stripe??
