  1. Completely unexpected. Now I'm looking at stainless lines from LMC as a replacement. Fir now though I have to patch it up. I need the truck tomorrow morning to help a friend move a 5th wheel camper. My truck will be more of a backup plan in case his has issues but still need the brakes. Not good either. I would have hit the car in front of me had I not dove into the gas station like I did. I'll pull it apart and go to my local napa to get what I need to make up a new line. I will be replacing th all over the summer to avoid another close call for sure. I like the SS line idea. Should never need replacing afterwards. I'll also replace all the files hoses when the new lines are done.
  2. So I was on my way to work this morning, went to stop for a red light, traffic in front of me when the brake pedal suddenly went to the floor! I knew I blew a brake line at that point. Had to dive into a gas station parking Lot at 30mph to avoid hitting anyone! Downshifting, thankfully I have a manual Trans! Got her stopped and checked things out best I could. The line that goes into the rubber flex at the right front wheel was soaked. There's the problem. I'll get under it in a bit to see if it was the flex line or the hard line but either way scared the crap out of me. Day off work now to tend to it. Ugh.
  3. This is the one I bought from Amazon. Worked great!
  4. ***update*** I received the bearings and puller/install tool last week. I was able to get out to the garage this past Sunday and change the bearings. Tools worked perfectly! Made it a rather simple job really. The bearings I purchased from "All Balls Racing". I've heard good things about them in the past but never used them so thought I'd give them a try. I believe I paid $14 on Amazon for the pair. H-D bearings were around $25 each. Old bearings out. (Don't make fun of my filthy wheel, they're clean now. Lol New bearings in. Took the bike for a test ride, all seamed well. Waiting for better weather for a longer test ride.
  5. I agree with @Threadzy, I to have saved a ton of money wrenching on my own cummins. Also did a few mods to promote reliability. I stated the motorcycle forum (for all cycles and atv's) because I know many of us have them. I wrench on my own bike also, along with my 2 sons bikes and my brothers. I figured us motorcycle enthusiasts could benefit from others experience same way as with our trucks. So if you haven't checked it out yet please do! I also started a thread about possibly some of us meeting up while camping. I'm in N.W. Ohio and camp somewhat locally at this point but would travel if some members would coordinate and commit to a meet and greet. I may start a thread to let anyone know what events I may be attending just to meet some of our membership. May have to get a Mopar1973Man hat made or something so I can be recognized among a crowd. Hint hint @Mopar1973Man
  6. Sounds like a whirl wind kinda trip. Glad ya got him going mike. That's a kind of service you just don't get very often.
  7. I like the manual. If I had the same pile of money I would opt for an eaton-fuller 10 speed or something similar. Maybe a super 10. Just because. Lol
  8. It is an HF wheel chock, good eye! Gonna use it while trailering the bike to Florida in may.
  9. So I with my sons help changed both tires on the Harley Sunday. I don't know if I would do that again. At least not without some sort of better tire "machine". We used hand tire tools for motorcycles and that was rough. My wheels are spoked so tubes are required, we ruined one for the front tire trying to pry the new tire back over the wheel. Eventually we got them done. Tire are mounted. I uses the balance beads in the tube for balancing them. I also found the rear wheel bearings were pretty tight so ordered those tonight along with the proper bearing tools for the job. Pics of the new rubber below.
  10. I just don't see the plastic lasting that long. Plus I need one of the rubber bumpers that keep the gate from rattling.
  11. Anyone have a source for OEM rubber tailgate hinge bushings? I bought some from Amazon, they're plastic. Don't think they'll last long plus out of the 4 pieces that came in the kit only one of them will fit anything. I looked on LMC website and seems that they now sell plastic parts as well. I would prefer to have rubber one like dodge put in there. Thanks in advance.
  12. Just thought I'd toss this out there. We need to have some more articles written with pics if possible on maintenance, mods and whatever else we may do to our trucks. I know it's not always convenient to do this, I'm guilty in skipping it myself. Sometimes it's cold out or we're just in a time crunch and have to get it done. Been there to. We would like to see more of the how to stuff because it seems there is always a better way or at least another way to get things done. The more the better, what is good for one may not be for someone else. I recently installed a 5th wheel hitch in my truck and will attempt to take some pics and do a write up here soon. It isn't a difficult task to install one but it does take some time. I will also be doing an oil change before long so I will so another simple write up for that as well just to help build up our article base on the site and provide information for those that find us here and are new to the Cummins diesel world. Mike @Mopar1973Man has done a great job over the years writing how to's as well as some other members. I'd like to get an article or two in the books just to leave something to help someone else out there myself. Thank all, sorry for the long post.
  13. If i had a trailer and the time for the trip i would be happy to remove it from your driveway for you. In all honesty, if it were me I would get her running again. These older trucks are drawiing premium money right now so if you get her fired up maybe the cummins bug will bite you again and you keep it OR you sell it and make so money on it. Seems like a win/win to me either way.
  14. Looks like a great time!
  15. Great customer service, great products. They have all your towing needs and then some. Hitches of all kinds, truck and RV accessories to. Fast shipping as well. I ordered a 5TH wheel hitch and received it a day earlier than expected. install was easy. Good people to work with.
  16. @IBMobile, thank again for the above video. Turns out it was the gas valve. Replaced it today, we now have a working furnace. Also changed out the kitchen faucet at the wifes request. She now has one with the retracting sprayer built into the faucet head. Looks nice i must say.
  17. That's the thing. It was the correct way in the phone. Thanks @Tractorman
  18. ***update*** Got the 5th wheel hitch installed on Sunday. It spans over the void where the gooseneck once was. Everything went together well. Took a lot longer than I thought to get it done. Drilling the frame for the mount brackets was a bear! But all in all I'm happy with it so far. Once I have the other bed ready to install I will repair the frame where the gooseneck ate it. I also installed a second 7-way trailer plug in the bed on the driver's side. Thats gonna work out great with the 5th wheel. Not sure why the pic turned like that.....
  19. It's a rainy cool day here to. High was about 50°F but it didn't feel like it with the wind and rain.
  20. I have not read it. I belive a movie was made of it as well. Is that as good?
  21. Finally was able to get the bike out today. It was sunny and 60°. My 2 sons have been wrenching on their bikes lately and were ready for a short ride today so I fired mine up and went along. Almost got the bike stuck in the mud not to far out of the motorcycle shed. Oops. It was a nice hour long cruise. Nice to be able to enjoy a ride with my 2 boys. Also, in my pretrip inspection I realized it's tire time! Placed my online order for a new pair of Perelli Night Dragon motorcycle tires. Should have them by the end of the week. Gonna need them for the trip to Florida in May anyway.
  22. I don't believe all Russians are bad. There are many that are against this. I find them interesting as a culture myself. I also respect them for many reasons as a country and a people of this world. I however do not support what their leader is doing. No more than I support our leader now and what he is doing. The entire world is under attack by the globalist. We all need to realize that this has been planned for a very very long time.
  23. I'll have to check out that link. Our mainstream media is biased left, woke garbage as well. Newsmax is probably the closest you get to real reporting. Not sure if the have reporters there or not. I tried to limit myself over the weekend on my news intake. Had enough going on already. Lol
  24. See, @wil440 our news media here is extremely censored right now. They are nothing but propaganda to steer us towards what ever they're agenda is for the day. Put mainstream media is HORRIBLE for this. Secondary media is hit and miss. We can't get good information on much of anything.
  25. Camping in the desert sounds fun. At least before it gets to hot. Lol I'm looking forward to the camping season. We typically don't go much further than about 50 miles bit it's still a good time. I want to venture out further once I get some things done on the camper and truck.
