Reverse lights fixed!
My reverse lights were not working, once in a while one would come on but it was intermittent. I replaced bulbs and still same. Finally I put 2 and 2 together and looked under the rear of the truck (once I again took notice of the hole in the side of the inner bed wall that looked like a trailer plug) and saw that some dumb dumb had spliced into the wires going to the tail lights on both sides to power this plug in the bed that is no longer there. I removed the splices and the wires had corroded so no power was getting through. Surprised the tails and signals worked at all. Now that the splices are done correctly and shrink wrapped all is good. Since I live in a rural area it is very dark, very little ambient light so I installed some led 3157 bulbs in the reverse light sockets and I can now see behind me for a good 40 feet. Very happy with the outcome of all this and it didn't cost a dime. I had all the electrical stuff I needed to fix the bad splices and the bulbs were donated by a friend.

Time For New Tires......considering 315/75R-16's on stock aluminum wheels
Glad to hear you had e had a good experience buying your trucks new shoes. It's amazing how many people do not know how to drive a manual trans vehicle. It like a built in theft deterrent these days. Lol

Looking for some wisdom on longevity of the 5.9 L
Wow, thats amazing!

Looking for some wisdom on longevity of the 5.9 L
You have come to the right place for advise. I've been a member a short time. Not long ago bought my first dodge Cummins, an '01 with only 139k at the time of purchase. Only mods done was a aftermarket FASS replacement lift pump. Been extremely happy with it and will keep it a very long time. Stay away from the "53" blocks. They had a manufacturing defect that pops up from time to time. Other than that, find one that the owner cared about and didn't go crazy with power adders and you'll be good.

Tire Recommendation needed
I had some Firestone destination M/T 2's that were great. They were on a half ton truck though. You'll have to see if they make it in the proper load range for you.

2nd Gen Dodge 2500, mod suggestions?
I know you recommend the quad adrenaline @Mopar1973Man but what are your thoughts on the quad power box? I was reading a bit on those and for a mild daily driver it doesn't sound bad. Half the price as well. The quad XZT+ is the one I was reading about.

My experience with A/C
I recently charged my a/c. It was working but not well, I believe there may have been a slight leak somewhere. I added some freon and for it working better but my high side pressure it to high and the low side is low. I am pretty sure the orfice tube is partially plugged. I'll be changing it when I open the system to do the heater core and HVAC box R&R.

Time For New Tires......considering 315/75R-16's on stock aluminum wheels
I haven't used them but I had a half ton not long ago with 33x12.50x15 Firestone destination M/T 2's on it. For an off road tire they were great in mud, snow and whatever else you get into. I don't know what they have in the way of a heavy duty tire but might be worth a look. Also, a good friend of mine has a dodge 2500 crew/long bed Cummins and he runs procomp's. Not sure which model but they're pretty aggressive as well. He loves them. Just thought I'd throw in my $.02

Fuel issues
I feel lucky that I found the one I have. Not knocking the newer ones but wow, wouldn't have expected such a difference in price for injectors.

OMG! that's crazy.

Put the Cummins to the test sunday
Wish I would have took some pics! We had a guy come take of our 20 acres of wheat and run it into hopper wagons for us. Long story short, my uncle hooked his Duramax to the wagons to pull them out of the field. Not enough traction so the nice guy that I am hooked to his truck with a couple big tow straps I have and pulled him and both wagons out to the road. Total weight of the pull was roughly 35-40k. Not bad for an inline six! He was a bit in shock but it was all about traction, I had it and he didn't.

Did I read that right @Mopar1973Man? $4000 for the new injectors on his CR engine?

Bug screen behind grill/winter covers
I saw some sewn covers that attached somehow to the front of the truck. Not really a fan of them though. Last winter I cut 4 pieces of cardboard to fit the grill openings and painted them black. Looked decent. Not sure how much it helped though. It didn't hurt.

Bug screen behind grill/winter covers
Thanks for the input! I didn't know they even made the metal screen anymore. Everything is plastic now days. Lol Seems like it did a great job for you.

Bug screen behind grill/winter covers
Just a few questions: Who has made a screen to catch bugs behind the grill? I am getting alot of bugs stuck in the radiator and a/c coil behind the grill. If you have made one what did you use, and does it work well? Also, does anyone run a winter cover? I know it's not winter now but are they necessary in the winter? I'm in N.W. Ohio and the past couple winter's haven't been all that bad. Just want to be prepared if I would need it. One last question- My '01 is a basic model, no bells and whistles. It has the openings in the front bumper for factory fog lights but nothing in there. Just a large opening. Is there something I could place in there or is it possible that the wiring may be present for the fogs just not used? Didn't mean to toss all this out at once but thought it'd be easier. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Misc work
I have some body work to do in the future as well. Mostly rust repair. Floor pan on the driver's side is the worst of it. If I catch the surface rust before fall I should be good there. Just hard to find time working full time to. Body work takes time and patience. I'm short on both these days.

It's always something isn't it. Lol My list of things seems to grow by 2 Everytime I fix one.

Normal Load % for Basically Stock Truck?
@BrokeAssPainter, I to am texhno-tarded when it comes to this stuff. I may someday spring for a quad, we will see. It just worries me a bit because my truck is my daily driver as well and can afford to have it down for very long. I just "cleaned house" and got rid of all my other vehicles. Down to my dually, the wife's car and an '80 Chevy square body project. I agree with you, there are great guys on here more than willing to help out. I feel I would almost need someone on the phone to walk me through step by step. In person would be better but not always feasible. I have some other mods in mind but may work myself up to a quad one day.

Tragic day friday
Thank you all. I'm not an emotional kinda guy but thought I would share a little here to help me cope with the loss. He was a good kid, I'm going to miss him. As far as the steering, I don't know exactly what failed, could have been something else. It's still under investigation. My first thought was a ball joint but I don't really know. Terrible though, 2 young lives lost due to a failed part or maybe lack of maintenance. Either way it's a tragic loss. I thank you for your prayers.

Tragic day friday
The wife and I got news Friday evening that our nephew (her brothers oldest son) and his friend both died in a fatal one car accident. They were both just 18 years old and had just graduated high school. The were driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee when there was a "major vehicle equipment malfunction" . The Jeep went across oncoming traffic into the grass and flipped before hitting a tree. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. I feel terrible for his parents, they are devastated. Mikey (the deceased) was just at our place on the 4th of July swimming and having a great time. He had some tentative plans for his future with his girlfriend who was also here. Very nice young lady also planning their future together. Prayers for Mikey and all the loved ones he has touched in his short young life. R.I.P
