  1. Guess I wont complain about ND roads anymore Sounds pretty bad out there. How come they havent fixed the roads? If they are paying for the damage done to peoples cars then they obviously have the funds to fix the roads IMHO.
  2. I would say a solid 4-5k in most places. In canada it seems it would probably be closer to 6-8k but I am not certain on that.
  3. Some of the most common places to leak are the return lines. There is a banjo the comes out of the back of the head (pretty hard to get to) that will leak, as well as the return line tee that is kind of behind the fuel filter housing. Those 2 places are probably the most common places to leak so I would start there. Then I might check the fittings on top of the tank. Did you use a draw straw or something like that?
  4. My PS system gets real noisy in the cold too. Just like any other fluid it is just cold and doesnt flow that well in the cold. I am looking to change out all my fluids to synthetic eventually just to help everything flow better in the cold. It is really nice to have almost instant oil pressure on the mechanical gauge when its -30 outside.
  5. For what you want to do the RV275's would be awesome. Especially if you are going to stay with the HX35. Good mileage and a nice power bump. I think the biggest you would want to go with would be 75hp injectors. That would be about the limit for a decent tow rig. The RV275's are about a 40-45hp over stock so they are a nice increase.
  6. Whatever injectors you go with make sure they are the true Bosch RV injectors and you will be fine. Lots of people buy from DAP including me and love their service. I havent ever purchased injectors there but hear a lot of good things about getting injectors through them. They will take care of you.
  7. Here is another one. could be mounted under the bed?? http://www.dieselautopower.com/product-p/cat%20filter%20dbl.htm
  8. I think there are some aftermarket companies that actually make a replacement base that will mount in the same place the stock one did, but it will use a common spin on fuel filter vs using the canister style like the OE filter. I dont remember off the top of my head which companies offer it but I will look around a bit..
  9. If it is back by the starter, could it be the rear main seal leaking? Either that or maybe the valve cover? Try pressure washing the engine down a bit and tracing where the leak is coming from. Then once you figure out exactly where it is coming from we can go from there with how to fix it.
  10. What brand of sump did you get? When it gets warmer this spring I am wanting to do a sump install on my truck. They seem very straight forward.
  11. Did this come as a kit? Or did you just buy the stock parts for an 09 truck and put them on?
  12. Welcome from up north here!! Glad you are here and hope to see ya around!!
  13. Since you are getting the 0121 code I am willing to bet that your APPS is gone. As for the 0216 code like said before, its probably short on time. Do you know how long it ran with no pressure? Sadly, if there was still any warranty on the injection pump, it was void whenever you lost pressure to the pump. You could get lucky though and have it run for another 20 years or not so lucky and only have another 2 days. Kinda hard to tell without the $600,000 test equipment though.
  14. With that many miles I would probably replace the flywheel. I think the flywheel is recommended to be replaced anytime you do the clutch anyway. I didnt have the extra cash laying around for a new flywheel when I did mine, coupled with the fact that I grind flywheels at the parts store I manage so it worked out for me. Otherwise I would have definitely replaced mine too.
  15. W and F, if it really bugs you, cheap cases for those iPods can be had for like a couple bucks. Then you could never tell it was pink.
  16. I get the same message. Kinda strange.
  17. Good on the needle valve. A decent mechanical fuel pressure gauge can be had for about $50. I think mike has a link to it somewhere. You may also be able to rent one from the local oriellys or autozone. It really sounds to me like you got some gelled fuel possibly. Try changing your fuel filter out. May have sludged up on ya.
  18. I think the next step up from the mini has a small touch screen. I agree that since your wife already has the Itunes account, might as well stick with that. I have always been happy with ipods and iphones. Good battery life and really simple to use. Go with the Ipod.
  19. Man I hate thieves so much. There isnt a feeling in the world that you can have other than something being stolen from you like that. I've had cars and trucks broke into in Yakima, WA and everything cleaned out. Really sucks. Police wont do anything about it either.
  20. Not sure what normal #2 is but the #1 diesel that I have been getting is right at 4.65 a gallon!!!!! :broke: :banghead:
  21. Also, welcome to the forum!!! Stick around and have a beer It will be helpful down the road if you fill in your signature with some info on your truck. You can do that by going up to your profile on the top right of the screen.
  22. When you say T fitting, do you mean a needle valve? Just because of how many problems people have had, I would want to verify your electronic fuel pressure gauge with a mechanical one. You never know when the sender will go bad on ya. That being said, are you running any kind of antigel in your fuel? Anything lower than about 25 degrees and I always make sure I am either running diesel #1 or at least a good antigel in the fuel.
  23. No way to clear them without a good code reader. Try stopping by the local Orielly's or Autozone. Their readers are actually not bad and you can clear codes with them. Thats what I always do at least..
  24. I dont think it would extend coolant life. When you change the coolant, its not because its dirty most of the time. Usually its because the coolant lost its properties to prevent rust, corrosion, and the pH scale is all messed up most of the time. I am sure the filter would help if you had a problem like CTcummins had where the coolant was neglected. Now he has rust, deposits, and general junk flowing through the coolant. I would filter that system.
  25. I have also noticed that a straight piped 12v is usually more quiet than a straight piped 24v. 24 valve trucks exhaust have a harsh bite compared to the rest of the cummins trucks. IMHO.
