Went to start my 1999 2500 and the battery was dead. After charging the battery, My wait to Start light was flashing and wouldn't start. I have read a lot about this pointing to a bad ECM. I was planning on sending mine to carcomputerexchange.com. $514 for a rebuild and lifetime warranty. I haven't pulled any codes yet. I'm going to buy an OBD2 reader tomorrow when i get off work. My questions are... 1. Is there anything that would fry the ECM that i should check before the new one goes in? 2. Has anyone dealt with carcomputerexchange? Also, my WTS light hasn't come on at all for about a year, but starts overtime no matter the temperature. …

I have found the LF16035 @ truckhelp.com for $9.10 each plus shipping. Does anyone know where to get them cheaper? I have found them on line from $9.10 to $15.00 plus. I can get a MOPAR filter for $13.49 out the door at a local parts store. What is the conventional wisdom on using /not using the MOPAR filter?

I am looking for a flex plate for my 2001 5.9 diesel 4x4 with a 47RE transmission. I really dont see the need for a billet one and are having a hard time finding a non billet one. The only one I can track down is the one on MTS website. The F2-5.9 for $195. What do yall think of this thing? Do you know of any other non billet ones? 3 Times Thicker than OEM SFI Rated Flexplate Designed to handle extreme duty applications Designed to take the punishment of high horepower engines 4mm thick centerplate Ring gears are precision robotic welded with cold welding process

I pulled the transmission out of my truck Friday to get rebuilt and I'm looking at upgrading the flex plate. I've been doing some reading and by the sounds of it some guys replace them and some don't. I don't race nor do I plan on racing so the 29.3SFI approved flex plate would do me no good. I was leaning towards a billet one but 400 bucks is kinda outlandish in my opinion. The factory one is probably fine, but I've read they break or crack under stock power. As long as I have it this far apart I just assume replace it with something I know will be good, rather than have to tear it all apart again later because it broke. I see BD has a forged flex plate for 350 bucks, …

Iv posted this here before and never found the issue. It has gotten to the point they won’t stay on longer than 30 seconds and then flicker madly. All wiring looks good. Could it be a faulty headlight/fog light switch? Bulbs?

Alright guys how many of you know how to float your gears in your 5 or 6 speed cummins? Recently I tried it for the first time and it’s surprisingly easy to do no grinding and no resistance when shifting. I also tried it in my Jeep Wrangler with lil trouble. I’ve found quite a few older posts regarding the syncros suffering from floating gears but is that only because people aren’t doing it right? The reason being is that my stock clutch is slipping. And I’m trying to buy as much time as possible. Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated!!!

This may be a dumb question but will floating the tranny and not using clutch cause damage. I use clutch in first and reverse and downshifting. I never grind them but its not a eaton-fuller either. I have a south bend double disk clutch and get tired of doing leg lifts while driving. any info would be great. Thanks

Just was given a couple of floor jacks. Bad news is one doesn't lift up and the other barely lifts the truck. I have put fluid in them. There is no id on them. Just wondering if anyone has had to (or can you?) over haul a hydraulic jack. Any pointers would be appreciated!

Is fluid supposed to accumulate in the transmission solenoid that is attached to the xmsn housing? I have attached the diagram of the connector which plugs into this solenoid, I have cleaned out the plug a few times but fluid keeps re-appearing. Just seems weird that have fluid in a electrical connector. the Main 8-plug connector attaches to the solenoid in question. I did some quick searching and could not find out any information on if this is/is not normal.

  10. Truck has intermittent power steering, moaning and groaning. Going to start simple with fluid. Any last minute advice on fluid choice? I don’t have a jack to get the front wheels off of the ground, will get one if you guys tell me that is the only way. I have jack stands just no jack. Any and all help is appreciated.

  11. I have my transmission out and will be turning it in as a core on a reubuilt transmission. I want to make sure the lines are clean when the new transmission goes in. What is the best way to do this? AutoZone has this, Has anyone used it before? Before the transmission came out, I flushed more than 20 quarts of fluid through the transmission. What a fiasco that was.... Anyway, when I drained the fluid to remove the transmission, the fluid was a nice clean, high dollar red. I only managed to put 30-40 miles on the fluid. Do you think the lines are ok? Could I install the transmission, fill it with fluid and leave the return line off and use the transmission to pump the …

I bought my truck as a basket case you could say. The shop that found the crack in the block just left the engine torn apart. Im picking up another engine with a bad vp saturday for my truck. I will be swapping my vp to this engine. I was told the vp that my truck came with was "newer". Problem is the shop didnt cover the ports for the injector lines. Is there a safe way to clean/flush the pump?

Hello everyone I have a question that hopefully you all know the answer to. I recently got my trans rebuilt by a shop with a full manual valve body extra clutches and a upgraded front band apply lever. It also got a new TC. After that it made a trip 800 miles pulling a 78 f150 and all seemed fine (I know it was stupid on my part to do that). Long story short I got back home and stupid me stalled it in 1st gear TC locked. I dident think anything of it at the time but after that it felt like whenever the TC was locked no load and driving it would rapidly engage and disengage. It had enough of it about 100 miles later and while just driving in normal conditions (not beating …

Evening Ya'll, 1st things 1st, THANK YOU MIKE! THIS SITE ROCKS! I've been using this as my service help for the last few weeks. I picked up a 2002 Ram 2500 SLT, Automatic, 4x4, short bed. Got what I thought was a good deal. I drove it 150 miles home, it was a DOG. I pulled 2 codes, P0112 (IAT v low) and P0237 (MAP v low). Using Mike's trouble shooting guides for the above DTC codes, after much wire tracing, ground cleaning, and testing both sensors are good along with the corresponding wiring..The ECM was bad. OK...FAST FORWARD to the 14th of March. My new (rebuilt) ECM came in, programmed ready to go. Installed the…

Heading out to work today. Got about 1/3 of the way to work. Hit a small hill and suddenly the truck wouldn't shift up. Couldn't go much faster than 30mph. Trying to go faster, the transmission would hunt back and forth like it was going from 3 to 2 and back. So i pulled over and thought I toasted the transmission somehow. Got to calling around and local shop wanted me to limp it in. I eventually got to a down hill and it up shifted for me. After that it was okay to drive. Dunno how that happened. But i played it safe and still went to the shop. The owner put his scan tool on the truck and said my output speed sensor was bad. …

Over the last week I've noticed some strange behaviors from my truck and want you all's opinion on whether I'm being paranoid, I just need some maintenance, I'm about to have a serious truck breakdown to deal with, or something else altogether. Background: I'm in Minnesota, and my fuel tank is full of local "Premium" diesel. Temps are ranging from the 20s to even a few days in the 60s. Fuel from the same station I've used a lot in the past, newer station, sells lots of diesel. Other guys I work with fuel here, too, no problems. I'm running my Quad on Level 2 for MPG, as I have for a few thousand miles. Fuel pressure is unchanged. Can hardly tell about M…

So i'm looking for a 2001 Dodge 2500-3500 HO 6spd but so far nearly every one i've looked at all say the same thing 150-180-250k mile's The mile's are way back in my mind i've drove a few with 400k and drove like new and of course the dreaded "Just replaced VP44 and added a Airdogg/FASS" Why do all these people drop $1500 for a Inj pump +Labor and then add a $700 Fuel pump + Labor and a 100 mile's later thorugh it up for sale. If i drop that kind of cash on something i'm gonna run it into the ground. lol I h…
