It's getting time for a rebuild, previous owner was a kid who didn't know how to take care of things lol. I'm planning on 7x12 sticks for my s363 turbo. But I'm not sure which cam I need. The truck is going to be my daily driver so I need something pretty streetable, if anybody can point me in the right direction or give me some input on the cams that you have tried I would greatly appreciate it??????

  3. Sorry guys, I know it's been like a broken record, but now that some time gone by has anybody got comments on using newer stuff with less zinc and phosphor on older engines. I've been running amsoil (1400 ppm zink) for few years now and don't have any problems with it other than price and the way you got to get it if you want a half a.. deal on it. Plus I don't put enough miles on it a year to justify it anymore. Called Cummins and they use Valvoline Premium Blue in just about anything and it replaces all of the older stuff. Guy said it had 1200 ppm of zinc in it and was plenty for flat tappets, price at cummins was $14.50 a gallon. Then I called Delo and talked with thei…

So Im looking for a new clutch I like working with DAP, so I emailed them this: Also need to figure out which clutch I need to get. When I bought the truck I was “told” it had a dragon flow vp44, 6x18’s, .093 lines and tubes, ham cam, springs, and 64/71/14 turbo and all the supporting mods and more. I did verify I have a valair competition dual disk (sintered iron) for pulling, I have taken all the electronics off of it and the only thing I havent verified is if the vp is infact a dragon flow… It does still have a ton of power so it might have it. I don’t plan on racing or pulling with this truck just a occasional driver or weekend truck and pulling a go…

As some of you might remember my clutch has been going away. After nursing it for the past few weeks I got home to day and dont have to go back to work until a week from Monday. On top of that this is what greets me when I arrived. Sure am happy to have this and the truck gets parked tomorrow for install. There were a couple things that surprised me with the clutch. First the throw out bearing, googled the part # and it came up a bearing made in China. It would appear that it is a common bearing and apparently SKF and Timken both sell the same bearing also. No markings on the bearing what so ever. The other is the makings on the organic facing of the di…

  7. So gents, i am in need of figuring out which clutch to purchase, mainly power wise. My dilemma is i only have a ballpark of the max my truck puts out but i dont want to be way over or way under and end up purchasing a clutch that is insufficient.I want to get a complete kit, clutch and flywheel as i think the original flywheel is garbage. All i have done is rv275's, bhaf, edge juice w/attitude. everything else stock and will stay that way. (truck has plenty of power.I rarely tow, rarely "get on it", dont pull nor race.I cant get an estimate on power as the current clutch slips with ease in setting 1 now, so im stuck.on the power rating they put on clutches, is that off the…

  9. Finally got everything buttoned up tonight and fired it up, only to notice a small, but steady stream of ATF coming out near the front of the trans. Further tracing of the leak found a hole worn through the hard line that runs from the heat exchanger up to the trans cooler. So, I cut that worn section out and fitted a section of hose and clamps in place to hold over til I get the new lines ordered. Anyway, after that drain-and-refill exercise, we took it off the jacks and loaded tools and such in the bed, and headed home. About 2 miles in (and this is in 4am traffic, mind you, i.e., non-existant) with some basic testing of functionality like downshifts, WOT 1-2 and 2-3, …

  10. Good afternoon! I'm brand new to the forums here, and brand new to the diesel world. This site looks like the best community of 2nd gen Cummins addicts I could find anywhere, so I am honored to join and learn from you, and hopefully one day contribute to helping others as well. Hopefully this is an appropriate place for an introduction, I really enjoy reading the intros from some of you and learning about how your trucks are setup, and their history, so here's a shortened version of mine: I bought this 2001.5 from a family member who bought it brand new. He purposefully waited until the 2001.5 version to get the disc brakes in back. It has always been met…

Check this out, never heard of this. Scroll down to almost the bottom of the page. http://hoeslidiesel.com/store/page2.html Connector,VP44 Injection Pump Repair connector for the VP44 injection pump. Fault code P1689(no communication between VP44 and ECM) is a common problem when this harness goes bad. Pins in this connector can wear out and not seat properly to VP44 pins. Why replace the entire $1,000.00 engine harness when you can replace the connector?

Installed a new VP44 from DAP. Truck starts lightning quick as it should when cold. I can let the truck sit for 5 days, nose uphill, starts in about half a revolution as it always has. So no siphon or fuel leaks. However when the motor's warm, not so much. Takes 3-5 seconds but does start every time . But let it set for several hours, cooler engine, no problem. Starting pressure with my Fuel Boss is 20 lbs. Out of curiosity, I put my DDRP back on which also runs around 20 lbs starting pressure. Same hot start problem with either. Is 20 lbs too much? No codes with a good scanner. …

First of all, I hope this is the right category and I do all of this right, this is my first time on this website. I have recently bought a 2001 24 valve with 193000 miles on it. The dealer that I bought it from did not have any decrcription if the truck other than that it was a clean truck. I am completely uneducated in diesel trucks and honestly mechanics in general. This is my first diesel truck and my first vehicle in general. the truck is an automatic, and although I’ve hear manuals are more fun, more reliable, and all around better tranny’s, an automatic was the only one that I could find that didn’t cost an arm and a leg, wasn’t rusted out, and didn’t have tons of …

Hey everyone, new to the forum i have a 99 eclb. I put a new ecm in after signs of a failed ecm, while I was waiting on the new one I pulled the alternator out to test it to avoid the bad diode problem. So I figured id do the mod w-t wrote about with the regrounds and new alternator power wire and what not. Well cut to I finshed it all up put the new ecm in and hooked the batterys up and i got nothing? No interior lights, headlights and no power at all. I had batterys tested and they were good. Cleaned all of my grounds again made sure everything was hooked up .checked over the wiring a few times im clueless now, im not good at electrical diagnostics, any idea of where to …

I will be installing my edge comp tonight and then next week it is time to go Elk Hunting. I've pulled my trailer plenty of times with my truck but this will be the first time with the comp installed. Is there any wisdom that you all have learned that you would like to pass along. I have read through the literature that came with the comp, but what setting do you prefer? I am not looking for smoke and squealing tires, but I would like the power when towing an mileage when not towing. any advice would be great. Thanks,

  17. DTC P0122: APP SENSOR SIGNAL VOLTAGE TOO LOW Monitor & Set Conditions Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor(APPS) voltage is monitored when the engine is running. DTC may be stored if low Hi all, I'm new to this issue, just wondering if I should just install a Timbo APPS Sensor and hope that fixes it, or look into other potential issues, or both. If both where should I begin trouble shooting this code? I'm sure there's a writeup in this magical world somewhere if anyone can share any link(s) with me it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any suggestions advise, etc.

I have been thinking about puttin a new exhaust on my truck, but there is so many different brands to pick from. I'm lookin for opinions to see who has what and if they are happy with what they bought. Thanks y'all.

So i've had my Current Sig pic truck for 2 year's now and the 4 inch exhaust is really starting to rust well at this point it's more rust/weld then pipe. And really been looking over exhaust choice's of course I can go back to 4 or 5 inch stright pipe/mufflered good for some like me while it lasted $400-500 for a new set. Or there's 4 or 5 in Dual's which i would love but saving for injector's and a tuner have nipped that in the bud at around $700-800 a set. There's also stacks which i really really love(Have a set on my V10 atm so quite and look awesome) but i have a bed cover on this truck and just can't bring myself to cut the bed(Also my father informed me he might sh…

  20. Hello, I've installed a Fass titanium 150gph and now my fuel pressure bouncing it goes from sometimes 14 to 20-24 and goes like 18-20 -21-17-15 bla bla bla ... change rapidly . I have an edge jwa with that electronic sensor. I dont think its the sensor it was good. The motor pump goes like on-off on-off .. . I drive the truck and I run fine even on WOT ... I take the suction line in the stock suction tube from the tank. run the 1/2 line to my stock fuel filter canister and put a 3/8 line from the canister to the vp44 to keep my banjo bolt and the pressure sensor at the VP44 . It's bad that fass don't give a fitting to fit a sensor with the kit! So i…
