I recently installed the mopar1973man high idle kit and it has worked out great. But i have noticed once I turn it off and let the truck idle for a while it will idle up again to 1200 rpm. It this normal after having my 2001 flashed with the smarty due to it being programmed into the system now. I live in clearwater florida and the days i have noticed this have all been above 70 degrees. Do you guys and gals think I have an issue, operator error, or just part of the new system flash. Any help as always is greatly appreciated. 2001 2500 quad cab shortbed 24v cummins 47re tranny 6 inch lift with 35x12.5 tires

  2. I am not the original owner. I didn't install the FASS HD. The pickup looks stock, and I can't see a draw straw. I am thinking of putting one in as I need to replace my fuel level sending unit anyway. Is there any way to tell? After looking through google images and on Rockauto for pictures, I really couldn't tell any big difference. All the photos I see have a 4 prong plug. The only big difference is that some of the in tank pumps have a squat hockey puck looking filter on the top of the pickup.

  3. Hi folks I own a 1998.5 24 valve 2500. I am currently replacing the stock Carter fuel lift pump, (Right rear side of block) with an equivalent new replacement. This is a preventative maintenance measure as pump on there now is seven years old and making 8 psi under full load. I an interested to see what pressure a new pump will make. New pump is just being bolted down now. Is it ok to install this dry? Will it prime itself once I hook everything up and turn on the power? I know about the upgrades for these lift pumps. I do plan to upgrade to a more reliable pump with better flow rate, in the future. For now just going with stock until I decide on an upgrade s…

I am having an issue with my truck not wanting to start when it is cold out. symptoms are below say 40-50 degrees the fuel pump will not come on, I get a CAD communications error, I have no gauges, no wait to start light, and I do not hear any relays click when I turn on the key. I have not seen any codes using the key trick. now here is the fun part. If I plug the truck in for a few hours it will start just fine and everything works properly. Truck has new batteries, and the connections are tight. Should I be chasing grounds with these symptoms, or should I be looking for a cold solder in the ECU, or am I just chasing my tail without diagnostic equipment to see what …

I have to say that I've never really paid attention to it before, but I noticed something about my truck this past weekend...With the EJ w/A, 1st and changing into 2nd gear (5600 trans) rapping it up to around 2500-2800rpm each time (from a dead stop) seems almost lethargic in acceleration. But 3rd gear, the truck takes off like a rocket. Same with 4th, and 5th. It's not just due to the short gearing; at least it doesn't feel like it. It feels as though the truck has, say 200hp in 1st, 200hp in 2nd, and 300 in 3rd, and so on.Is that the ECM's control vs speed or something? Or is it in the Edge?

I am attempting to track down a driveline vibration. Seems to be happening when accelerating from a stop while turning left. Unknown history of diff and drive line maintenance. I Changed the diff oil in July. Not many miles use since June. Will take a diff oil sample soon for analysis. This weekend I drove at hiway speeds for about an hour. No issues. Got home and immediately used a laser thermometer to check u-joint and diff housing temps. Ujoints all seemed fine and no hot bearings. Rear Diff housing pumpkin measured about 100F. Housing near pinion recorded about 120F. Is there something maybe going on with a pinion bearing? Any idea on normal housing temps a…

P0713 (trans temp sensor high) P1763 (governor pressure sensor high) P0753 (overdrive solenoid circuit) P0753A (shift solenoid A electrical) I dont know what to make of these codes. Are they painting some sort of picture I can’t see? It feels like it’s shifting alright... I am just about to put a new TC and transgo kit in the valve body

Yup sad to say the turbo I was running start sounding different on my last trip to McCall for parts and really low in boost pressure like 21 PSI. So this morning I pulled the truck in and start just looking and figured I would do just check the shaft play. Well that moves in and out just a few thousandth and the compressor wheel made contact with the housing I know the bearings are done. Thank Gawd that I kept my old stock HX35W turbo and just installed it back on. Back to making a solid 35 PSI of boost. Truthfully I would love to upgrade turbos but I know I'm going to need a new exhaust brake and install a PacBrake Inline on the 4 inch pipe. Then I could upgrade to a big…

Not sure if this in in the right catagory. I stopped for fuel this morning and noticed this new fuel was available along with the regular diesel. I am not a fan of additives I don't know about. I googled it and there is a lot of info but its over my head. Anyone know what this is about and should I consider using it or just stay with the regular fuel. Of course water and dirt are always a concern for anyone with a diesel. Regards Chris

Thanks to a great set of instructions (by Mike) I just finished my high idle fooler modification. All of the switch functions appear to be working as advertised. I just have to have the software enabled... I would guess I have about 5-6 hours in building the wiring harness and install... Thanks again Mike!

Maybe a stupid question but I’m having trouble finding non-conflicting information. I know the PowerMax is a fuel only box. I am trying to figure out if a box for an 01-02 can work on a 98-00 truck. I know the MAP sensors are different (plug and voltage values). I have read some info saying that unlike EDGE the PowerMax box will work on all years with a MAP adapter harness. Can anyone here confirm or deny this information? I have tried to contact TST but they are closed until Monday.

I was driving down the road last night and heard a big bang. I thought by the sound that I hit an animal. The truck seemed to loose power after that. Today I noticed that there is tranny fluid coming out the front of the tranny by the torque converter. Can anyone give me some insight as to what could have broke or gone wrong.

I have searched the prior posts and articles and have not found anything that reflects the situation I have - if one exists, please send me the link! When I start the truck in the morning, the engine stumbles a bit and acts like it's going to die. It then idles and runs "smoothly". This problem happens only if the truck has sat for at least 10 hours, and not every time. On Monday it DID die, and didn't want to restart at all! I don't believe I drove the truck at all on Sunday, so it sat a LONG time before the restart. I smelled no unburnt fuel in the exhaust after a combined cranking time of 15 seconds, I had my normal 12 PSI of lift pump pressure b…

  15. All my hoses are original in 2001 with 107,000 miles. Hoses don't look bad on the outside. No cracking, leaking or soft spots. Maybe they fall apart on the inside first? 17 years old, time to replace or am I lucky or whatever? I'd rather fix in my driveway than along road somewhere, if they are reaching the end of their life span. How long of time do you get out of hoses?

Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out my 4wd problem. This is the first truck I've had with 4wd. So I do not know very much about it. I have opened up the front end before to do seals and whatnot as well as the brakes. I did this back in Sept. I've had a recent transmission rebuild done as well.I have used the 4wd multiple times before and after my tranny rebuild and a few times before I opened up the front. I have also done fluids on everything as well.I took a trip from Sandpoint down to Spokane on Fri. The whole way there I had to have it in 4wd. It functioned without a problem. Tonight though, I drove from Spokane to CDA which is about 30 miles. I had it in 2wd. Once I e…

When I did my valve lash adjustment I did not have a barring tool so I used the alternate method to turn the engine backwards using a ratchet and socket on the alternator... Here is my question/comment... I turned engine till I got TDC (everything was nice and smooth and quiet) did the valve adjustments then started turning engine to get to BDC... while I was turning everything was smooth and quiet and all of a sudden I start to hear a clicking noise every time I would turn over the engine... the sound persisted for about 5 or 6 turns on the rachet and then stopped... I never heard it again after that... It noise/clicking sounded like it was coming from the aft…

Finally did the swap! 56mm compressor/12cm turbine up from 9cm turbine. Put an adjustable wastegate from Gillett Diesel along with the boost elbow from my Edge EZ. Spools a little slower down low but not much and really helped mid and top end. It just keeps pulling past 2200 rpm where my HY would choke. Turbo is a lot louder and and I can hear the air flow...although I think I have a boost leak from the driver's side now. The extra boost is definitely noticeable! Nice budget upgrade.

I'm sure this is probably covered already somewhere in this forum but I'm unsure how to search without bringing up a ton of unrelated info. My question is, when I bought this pkp it came with an edge ez, and the boost elbow had never been installed. After I got my gauges installed I installed the boost elbow, which changed max boost from about 12-15 up to 21-22. Does this sound about right. Is this boost elbow somehow adjustable? Thanks for the help
